  1. Sorry - my info was out of date.
  2. You should do a bit of online homework before you open it. Check to be sure that it will play nicely with your Android. Unlike some tablets, the Playbook does not have 3G or LTE capability. It relies on your phone, ideally a Blackberry, to connect with the interwebs when you're away from a hot spot. It is NOT independent.
  3. When you're searching, call it a chart, not a map, and you'll get more hits. Clickety click here
  4. On my Can-Am outlanders, I add fuel and go. No changing components for winter. Can you post a pic or 2 to help us visualize the issue?
  5. Fined for possessing it, or selling a mount?
  6. The drive east out of Oshawa is light traffic, traveling fast. Your only worry is getting caught speeding. 1.5h will get you to the water in Belleville. Did you have a specific area of Quinte you were thinking of, or do you need some suggestions? Some areas have moving water and dicey ice conditions are common. How far do you want to travel?
  7. This is a really good source. It covers everything from clothing to the load ratings on lakes vs rivers, how to set up surveillance drilling, safety measures and even when you can/can't park a load on the ice. It is very conservative. Northwest Territories - field guide to ice construction
  8. a narrow-track trailer will push the wheels in under the trailer and boat, raising the boat. This will give you some grief at many launch ramps. Are you sure you can live with that? If you can, a trailer shop can modify your existing trailer by installing a new, shorter axle and moving the spring mounts. Cheap compared to a new trailer.
  9. Isn't SAAQ the liquor store? .
  10. Interesting; AAA is pointing out damage caused by ethanol gasoine, and calls for an end to it. AAA Calls to suspend ethanol sales
  11. I'm a long-standing owner of runabouts, fishing boats, sailboats and power cruisers. I've come up through the ranks, and have some experience in many, many boats (the 2 most recent ones were 45' and 48' footers). The costs of ownership are predictable over the long haul. If you fill in some blanks about that 30-footer, I can tell you pretty closely what it will cost to own/operate. Make, model, year, power, gas or diesel, twins or single, inboard or I/O, age of electronics, generator, slip or trailer etc. Assuming it's not an overgrown war canoe, I can tell you for certain that your van won't tow it. Pleasure boating is not an inexpensive hobby. And for the most part, the bigger the boat, the bigger the costs. Only can decide if you want to make the investment/commitment. If you love it, there's no other way to get your fix. If you don't love it, it can be a monkey on your back, always nagging at you with worrysome repairs, maintenance, and upkeep.
  12. They have to do that, make a big deal of the forecasted storms, or the people who aren't prepared and can't cope well will let themselves get into deep trouble.
  13. Yup - fascinating. Look at North Korea. Almost totally black, with a bright band of light along the guarded border.
  14. I love this photo!
  15. How are they at crossing open water Skip?
  16. Hmmm... The guy in the photos is wearing a Telus hat. Telus didn't exist before 1990, and even then was only out West. I'd say the pics are 2000 or later.
  17. Are you POI? Posting under the influence? Or are you a corn farmer? .
  18. I'd like to hear more about the source of the info Jeff. I know the mandatory labels warn you how much ethanol 'might' be present. But I think you're talking about actual percentages, not possible percentages, right? With respect to Petro Can's fuel, is it always <3% ethanol, or does it change seasonally/geographically? How can you tell what it is before pumping it? I have never seen a more difinitive sticker than the "May Contain Up To..." Is this something that you learned personally, as an insider, or something that I can determine when I'm at the pump, or from the interwebz?
  19. Words to live by! We should all use this as our signature lines.
  20. Very cool! We get downey woodpeckers but no redheaded woodpeckers.
  21. I'm down and up 35 every day so Pontypool is handy for me - thanks for that tip Sinker.
  22. That's good info to have. Thanks Ernie.
  23. Yup- Marketplace got it right; engines that don't require the higher octane don't benefit from being fed higher octane. I noticed Marketplace did not test a high-compression engine to see how it would do on low-octane Regular. I did hear them state pretty clearly that engines designed to run on Premium (higher octane) performed better and got better fuel range when they ran the proper fuel. So somebody gave them the right info. I sure wish I could find a steady supply of both regular and premium without ethanol. I need the premium for 1 car (turbo, hi comp) and 2 sleds (2-stroke). I'd like the non-ethanol Regular for everything else, like the boat, mowers, trimmers etc. I'm finding that most big marinas still offer ethanol-free regular gas but I don't like their fuel prices very much.
  24. That's ridiculous. There has to be an offence committed, or at least the appearance of an offence. MTO inspectors know the regs and they know what tow vehicle/trailer combinations are likely to be over the threshold and into the commercial rules. Then they inspect and weigh you. 2 quads on an open tandem behind a sport ute aren't anywhere near the limit and the MOT inspectors know it. And if they did stop a driver of this type of package, there would be no ticket because they would sum the estimated load weight vs GVWR ratings and see there was no offence committed. They're not idiots.
  25. Can you run it in the driveway, on earmuffs and a garden hose? Disconnect the fuel line from the engine end, push in the little check ball and allow the fuel in the hose to drain back into the tank. Slosh the tank around to mix the stabilizer you added. Reconnect the fuel line, pump it up, start water flow to muffs, start the outboard and you'll have fuel to the carb float bowls inside of 2 minutes.
