I need one for my 5 hp. Check with BPS - they have 2 models. But the larger one has a MAX of 130 pounds. Also check with West Marine and see what they have.. I have some PICS as plans that I received from someone on a fishing forums site. If you want the PICS, PM me with your e-mail address and I will e-mail to you the PICS that I have. carp-starter

Nothing is wrong with red fishing line. How about pink fly line? If anyone is bold enough, how about a pink fly rod? Here is the article and a PIC. carp-starter http://www.thewesternnews.com/articles/200...news/news02.txt

I must correct BabyHerc's post a bit about the special regulations within the 3 sections on the Grand that have special regulations. "Pay attention to special regulations areas: no live bait, single barbless hooks, and catch-and-release only. No 20-inch-browns-on-a-cooler pics". The special regulations are: - artificial lures only - dead bait is also not allowed - this means - no organic bait - single barbless hooks only - possession of brook, brown or rainbow trout is zero (0) carp-starter - good luck in hunting for trout - every spot on the water can turn out to be a "hot spot".

Nemo If you want to, send me a PM with an e-mail address. I will then send to you my e-mail address - you will be able to send the PIC to this e-mail address. I will change the PIC from BMP format to Jpeg and return it to you. Or you can do it yourself very easily by using PAINT. - right click on the image and select PAINT in OPEN WITH. - click on file and then click on SAVE AS. - on SAVE AS TYPE line, change the format of PIC to JPEG and then click - save. - you now should have a JPEG PIC. Good luck in changing the format and I hope the missing man is found soon. carp-starter PS - if the size of the pic is required, this will be the time to do it using paint and -Image, Stretch.Skew - just decrease the horizontal and verticle lenght.

The lady may have lost a lot of money by releasing her bass. What would you have done? Or what would you do if you already had your limit and you caught your "world record fish"? Here is a thread about a "what if" situation. What if you caught a world record and you already had 3 keepers http://www.thebassbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=98395 carp-starter

Percher, I am also impressed with Bronte Outdoors (BO). On the day before the opening of the trout season I was driving to Fortinos in Burlington. When I was crossing the Rebecca-Bronte bridge on Rebecca St, I remembered about BO. My plan was to go to BO first but I forgot – if I did it after, I would have forgotten again. At BO, I looked around and then went to look at the fly tying materials. I next went to the front to get some worms and a fishing license. When the fellow was filling out my form, out of the blue I asked him if he had 2 lb test mono line? He said “yes”. I asked him 2 more times and got the same reply. He climbed onto a chair to get the line that was way up on a hook. All I could think of is the word – “amazing”. I have been trying to get fresh good 2 lb test line since 1981 when I came down “freedom” highway 401 on a transfer from Montreal to make the GTA my home. I have bought Stren twice from LB and both times the line was no good. Last year I found out that BPS also sold 2 lb test mono but after checking this year, BPS no longer sells it. I was amazed that a little store like BO had the line that I have been looking for 26 years. I still have not been at BPS. Last Friday I went to Grindstone in Waterdown to buy some big eye dry fly and scud fly hooks in #20 and smaller – I knew that BO did not go down that small. I asked Frank if he had snow shoe hare feet. We looked and he did not have the feet and before I had a chance to say anything, Frank said that “next” week he will check if he can get them. Right now I am wondering if he will just find out if he can get the feet or if he will get the feet for me to pick up. In either case, I am still impressed with the store. I know that if LB and BPS had the 2 lb test mono, it would have been cheaper at BPS and LB by about 2 bucks. But then I would have to drive 20 miles to LB or 40 miles to BPS – not worth it – especially if the line were not good. Here BO is about a 5 minute drive from home. Of course I will go back to BO again. Maybe I can teach him how to improve his fly tying supplies.

ADC You must release all fish that you catch out of season – dead or alive. That you released 11 bass (??) but not on purpose (“I hooked a bass (well 11 of them) but not on purpose”) was good. By releasing the 11 bass was good. But because you released 11 OOS bass, you were fishing illegally. The law states that you cannot target out of season fish. If I hook one OOS bass, one can consider that it was an accident. If I hook my 2nd OOS bass, I should move to another location where I think there are no OOS bass. If I hook my 3rd OSS bass, one would consider that this was NO ACCIDENT. One would consider that I was TARGETTING OOS BASS and THIS IS NOT LEGAL. You are doing harm by taking a OOS bass out of water because once you do, all the other fish will go after the baby bass that the bass you took out of water was protecting. carp-starter

Yes they are down. Hacked probably again. I got the phone number from the web. I entered just "fishing world hamilton". I hope the other web sites are correct. 905-573-2288 This is not the first time for them. In the past, when they were down, it was because someone hacked into their site and caused some difficulties. So, they just closed down their web site. carp-starter (Victor) -

Thank you Andrew Pallotta but I see that things will not change - boring and dull as before. For me, you do not have to post more info as it comes available. I have enough with what you have released so far. I will do something more interesting instead of going to the "show". carp-starter

Bill Parker I am sorry but I cannot make it next Tuesday nor Wednesday. Maybe some other time before the water temperature reaches the danger point of about 68-70 degrees F. You know my days of the week. carp-starter

Available most Tuesday, Wedenesday and Thursdays - never on Monday and not on Friday because of Friday traffic. carp-starter

I use Berkley, Trilene XL 4lb and I have no complaints. But then I use a 5 1/2 foot GLASS rod and not a stiff graphite rod. Since 1981, I have bought from LB on 2 occasions 2lb test and both times it was bad line. On the day before the opening of the trout season, I finally found what I have been looking for - 2lb test Trilene XL at that new store in Oakville - Bronte Outdoors. That guy there has a lot of stuff. I will support that guy and his store. carp-starter

You are 100% correct tonyb - dead gobies cannot reproduce. But bobies just thrown out can even though it is very improbable. I am blushing - thank you carp-starter
-
We threw them on the roof of the small building located at the end of the pier Oh well. I wonder how many bass etc. we just saved? So you are wondering how many bass you may have saved. How do you think gobies came to Canada and Lake St Clair that did not have any gobies? Does it have to be a freighter? You just threw the gobies on the roof of a small building - eh? Any sea gulls around? So a sea gull grabs a goby and flies away with it to a pond or lake that does not yet have any gobies. If that goby is a female with eggs, that pond or lake may soon have baby gobies soon. I cannot tell you if this will happen because I do not know anything about the reproductive cycle of a goby. But if done at the right time of year, you may have a new lake with gobies. Even just killing a goby and throwing it on the ground is not good enough. You need to get rid of it so that they cannot get transported to another body of water. carp-starter

misfish, I would love to see the wings get in but I am afraid it would never happen. The Wings would be easy pickings just like this happy bird. carp-starter

Can I Bring Son In Law fishing this season...?
carp-starter replied to Black_Blade's topic in General Discussion
Black Blade Let's face facts - everyone and anyone can go and pay the non-resident fees and go fishing. So why post unless there is something hidden here or not stated. Because of what you have stated in your post, there is another way. You do not have to go the non-resident route. I am assuming that you are not expecting to find a way to fish for free but will pay Ontario resident fishing fees. I am not writing this to help your son in law beat the system and pay nothing because "He can't 'officially' work". If your primary residence is in Canada and you have lived in Canada for a at least 6 consecutive months during the previous 12 months immediately before buying a licence, you can buy a resident fishing licence in Ontario. The above should be right at the beginning of the Ontario Fishing Regulations. carp-starter -
Great - 2 down and 6 to go. Go Sens and Canada. We are also in the World finals. Thanks for the score Muskymatt - I started to go thru the TV channels and radio to get the score. I do not watch sports except for "The New Flyfisher". GO SENS GO

how much for fly fishing starter setup?
carp-starter replied to Jigster's topic in General Discussion
Do not worry about prices and rod makers. Prices – the sky is the limit. Rod makers – they are a dime a dozen. Some are better than others. Most are in the same boat. Some are over priced. What you need to do is to ask some questions first. What are you going to fish for – steelhead, salmon, bass, pike or small trout? What kind of rivers or streams will you be fishing in? Are they narrow or wide, big or small? Will you be casting lost distances or short distances – break point is about 25/30 feet. Determine what action you want – fast, medium or slow. Determine the length of rod you want – dependant on how big the rivers are. These are some of the questions you will need to ask yourself first. Some questions will tell you what length rod to buy and what line weight. The reel comes at the end just to hold the line (in most cases). You do not want to buy a rod for line weight 7-8 if you are going to fish for resident trout only. Line weight 7-8 are good for larger fish like steelhead or salmon. . . At the end, you will buy based on what you want to spend and on your emotional feelings between one rod and another rod (s). Some rods will be similar in quality and the same rods may cost more because they are more fancy. There will be many options open for you – believe me. . I have heard people say that they want “the best bang for the buck”. I still do not know what it means. Maybe it means they are looking for a $1,000.00 rod and reel for $100.00. And do not forget that if you ask 50 fishers for their opinion, you will get 40 that are different. So, ask questions, get info, learn/analyze, decide and buy. Also, before buying a rod, you should in person cast more than a number of rods to compare and see what each one can give you. Today fly fishing tackle is expensive. Do not buy what may appear as a good buy because at the end it may cost you a lot more when you find out what you bought is not what you want nor need. So do not rush in even if it might look like you are getting the best bang for the buck. I think it is called – PATIENCE. carp-starter – good luck – you need answers first -

ch312 -single barbless hook -no live bait -limit of 1, 20" fish per day It is artificial lures only - this means no ORGANIC bait. ============================================= Talk and talk and talk. We all know that there is a lot of illegal fishing out there. The people who fish illegally know that they are doing it. Educating them will not work. The rate of illegal fishing is going up and up at a higher rate than the decrease of illegal fishing via education and whatever. And talking is not doing anything. The first time a poacher can plead ignorance and be let go with no fines. Can anyone explain to me why the same person can be plead "ignorance" the second time and we accept it? carp-starter

Hi guys. Guess what I am watching on TV? Mad Max. Bang. bang. No I did not go fishing on the weekend. My plan was and is to go tomorrow on Monday or Tuesday. By then, I hope I will avoid most of what you guys are seeing out on the water - subject to the weather and that my bad back does not get worst. Fishing is meant to be peaceful and an enjoyable moment of time. carp-starter - good luck to all of you brave guys Believe me guys, most of the poachers are not ignorance. They know what they are doing. They know that to plead ignorance, the law will let them go the first time.
