  1. Great thread. Been here since the beginning and it made me many good friends. Thanks Tref.
  2. Great thread Lew. Those days sure we fun.
  3. Thanks for sharing. Really enjoyed it.
  4. Where in PA did it happen? I might be able to help you out.
  5. Where is the cottage? Are you near the mouth of the French? When times get difficult, try something out of the norm. Look for 12-15 feet of water adjacent to weedlines. Drag jigs tipped with crawlers. The action was pretty hot in July.
  6. Thanks guys. "Dirt" is the nickname his baseball teammates gave him two years ago. It has stuck. He's really becoming quite the fisherman. When the adults all wanted to come in to play cards and have a refreshment, he complained that there was fishing to do. Todd at Sandy Haven has already planted the seed for Dirt to be the dockboy up there some day.
  7. Sorry about the size of the pics.
  8. It was a great week at Sandy Haven Camp. We didn't get to fish for muskies much but the walleye fishing was on fire. We could have limited each day if we tried. It was Dirt's 3rd trip to Canada and if he keeps catching fish at this rate, he may want to move up there. Here's his first walleye: Here's his second: First smallie: Stringer of walleyes: Stringer of jumbo perch. They were unusually large: Then Dirt went off. He ended up nailing the biggest smallie, sheepshead, perch and walleye for the week: It was a fantastic trip. Can't wait for next year.
  9. Have fun guys. I wish I could pull it off.
  10. Got get her Lew. I hope you have a blast.
  11. Gerritt, They are suing you and your insurance company has a duty to defend you. They will supply the lawyer. You have a duty to cooperate with our insurance company and if you don't, they can claim that you breached the insurance policy and either won't defend or indemnify you. Answer their questions and let them do their job. It most likely will settle out of court and it's the best way for you not to spend any money out of your pocket. Trust me, I'm a lawyer . . . .
  12. says who the heck talked me into getting a puppy right before Christmas???

  13. It's not a coincidence that the people who complain most about moderating are the people who warrant it the most. It really is common sense. The reality is that this place will go on fine without you. I'm with Roy, for all of you who are whining about posts being edited, please PM me and explain the details. Knowing how moderating decsions are made, I think some of you are making it up. Feel free to prove me wrong.
  14. That's funny. Real funny.
  15. Love it. Good job Lew. I can't wait till I take my son on his first Larry/Ottawa trip.
  16. I think Casa Blanca sold off their cottages and isn't operating anymore. I could be wrong. I've stayed as Sandy Haven for the last 25 years and love it. Alot of people also swear by Lunge Lodge. Haven't heard any negatives about the place.
  17. I really enjoyed that Lew. Thanks.
  18. The answer is very simple. We run the show and we do what we believe is in the best interest of this community. We try to be consistent. Nobody forces anyone to log on to this board. We deal with many PMs to us by posters whining and complaining about our treatment of them. Every one is sent a PM explaining our actions. You may not like the explanation but you get one. We aren't a governmental entity and certainly not a democracy and censorship is going to occur. If we didn't censor your posts, we would lose many members.
  19. The reason we won't delete an account is because as long as the account exists, we are able to maintain alot of information about that account which we use for future moderation. If we delete the account, we lose the information. There are alot of things that happen behind the scenes here. If you knew how much we deal with, you'd know how good of a job the mods do at keeping most of our serious moderation behind the scenes. Many of you throw the word "censorship" around as if it's a bad thing. When action is taken against a poster or a thread, it is done with good reason. You may not all agree with it but, frankly, we don't care. Our obligation is to the entire community, not just the few that, ironically, are the consistent whiners.
  20. Are you going to switch targets Jason?
  21. Wow, that really brings back memories. He taught us how to catch fish when nobody else was catching them. We still use every trick he taught us. Back then, Tall Pines was owned by Mark Hall, who now has a place on Sandy Island just outside Wigwam. As TJ said, he had some rough times. It's great to hear he was so special to the people of Sturgeon Falls. It makes me smile to remember how hard it was to understand what he told us. He mumbled quite a bit. I'm sad to hear of his passing.
  22. Is this the same Francis that guided out of Tall Pines for awhile? If so, I have shared some great memories with him. If it's not, then RIP.
