  1. They are easy to make !!! Just take the back hook off like they did in the above pic and put on a split ring and a small swivel and a willow leaf blade !! We have done this with ice fishing lures many times !!!! The bass guys were using them about 10yrs ago on simcoe last time I seem them .... What's old is new again ....cool
  2. Nice shootin TJ !!!!! Awesome pike ......it always feel better when you catch a fish on your own lure creations !!!!!! Cheers

  7. It's not just balsam lake either pike have spread all through Haliburton as well !!!!!! The beech lake maple and grass lake chain all have pike now as well as boshkung and they are spreading like crazy I reported my pike catch 3 years ago to the MNR in minden and I gave them a picture of it as well and they just said they are there to stay now and are established !!!!!! And that same chain has muskies too !!!!! Big trouble on the horizon
  8. Hey Roy !!! What color should we be using with out dropshot bait ??? The color "C" lector will tell us !!!! Lol have not seen one of those in years....
  9. The technical aspects are not new,but it's a lot more finnese presentation and yes it does work very well and is a fish catching application, and with the correct finnese rod you can feel everything and fish it in many different ways for example: following a nice drop off from 5ft down to 25ft and stay lightly in contact with the bottom and feel every single bump the whole way down !!!! It's amazing !!!! And the fish don't complain at all sometimes it can make totally inactive fish go crazy for it !!! The more arsenal you have to catch fish and use them the better your results will be !!! You should try it and you will see what we mean !!!
  10. I'm with Craig Ritchie on the northern sask probly tobin lake the lakes up there are world class and all have the potential to hold record walleyes and pike it's some of the best fishing in the world for those 2 species !!!! Come on Craig lets go !!!! I will hook up the Lund right now.....lol
  11. Makes it feel like Christmas morning again doesn't it Dave !!!!!! Some nice goodies indeed....
  12. Yes I use braid as well and a flouro leader too !!! But I don't mind trying a new product so if they work great that's good if not oh well I still have all my other back ups as well !!!! I thought maybe in the strong current of the Ottawa river it might help a bit .... So that's yet to be determined
  13. Nice !!!!!!
  14. I just picked up a pack of the VMC zero twist hooks with the swivel built right in !!!! I will be trying them real soon and will report back,I use the gammy hooks and the owners as well but maybe these will work good too ??
  15. It also depends on if the area is deemed a sensitive zone or a protected area such as a sanctuary or not !!! My fishing buddy in Bancroft area is on a lake deemed a sensitive area I believe they rate it on a scale?? And he had to get permission to have his dock posts touch the lake bottom !!! They wanted him to use a floating dock !!! The MNR has also cited a cottagers for cutting a dozen trees on the shoreline as well !!! And they said if a tree falls in the lake on the shoreline you are not to remove it unless it impedes navigation but his lake is landlocked so wasn't an issue so I guess it depends I will ask him next time I'm there !!! But I live herein sturgeon lake and people have cleared all the shoreline and pretty much do whatever they want except build new boathouses they are declining those permits unless you have lots of money then they do a study it's not a clear law how its ok in some areas and not others ??? Good question though....
