  1. When you go to the MTO, just tell them you need plates for a homemade trailer. Don't have to pay tax if the trailer's homemade. On the application, under color, put BLACK. Go home, use tremclad black, paint the trailer. It is now homemade!! Worked for me, and I had a brand new easy hauler(2005). (bought 14.5' boat w/ 9.9hp without a trailer). Why pay tax if you don't have to. If you ever sell the package, the new owner pays the tax. ( If he does'nt know about this!) As for the rest of what you need, just a boaters card I think. Oh,,, and a fishing rod!! BTW, I was pulled over twice on the 400, while towing, and they didn't ask to see anything regarding the boat either time. (trailer i mean)
  2. about 10 years ago, we used to catch walleye at Toronto harbour, right beside Capt. John's seafood restaurant, at the foot of Yonge. havent done it since I bought the cottage and boat. Who knows, at the right time, they could still be in there. I believe it was late fall we were there.
  3. I met Hawg Hunter and the boys @ Carra's on Christmas eve. Good bunch of guys. lotsa info. Even said he would find a way to get my crippled brother out. ( broken leg just before christmas screwed his ice season) I would reccomend him although I've not been out with him. You can't beat the experience of a local guide to put you on the fish.
  4. go with an insurance company that specializes in marine insurance. I use Elco marin experts, from Barrie. about $400/year full comprehensive with 0 depreciation on loss part/total for 10 years. I don't pretend to know lots about insurance, but I shopped around, and they seemed to have the best policy. I have 2007 legend, with 25 4stroke efi
  5. Next time they call, ask them if they know what they are doing is illegal. To help competition, CRTC made it law that once you switch companies, they cant call you to get you back as a customer for 1 yr. This was told to me from my frien who is a manager for Rogers.
  6. I fish Lake O, and I sure wouldn't want to be hanging off the back of a boat, fighting with a rope, with 7-10ft. swells on a windy day.
  7. For fishing stuff I always go to Tightlines first. If he doesn't have what I need, Then I go to BPS or lebaron. John cant always match BPS or Lebaron But loyalty to the small tackle shops around Ontario Pays off. JMO
  8. Why wait??? I'm just getting ready to have a whitefish dinner, fresh from simcoe 2 hrs ago. Out in the boat all day.. for the most part, it was like glass out there. gonna freeze soon though. Water was slushing up out there befor a breeze picked up.
  9. How do I reduce a photo's size. Seems all my pics are too big
  10. That would be GREAT!! It's either Simcoe or Quinte. Cant sit around the house all weekend, plus I start holidays today
  11. Is the launch useable? Thinking of dragging the boat up on Saturday.
  12. I checked out all the east tribs as far as wilmot today. Only one that was close to fishable color was willie. with tonite's rain, don't think things look good for the weekend.
  13. Just heard the news...Body found watch the news @ 6pm
  14. Check the fuse inside the adapter plug.
  15. Burtess is right. Both tribs closed season north of lakeshore
  16. Just heard on the news, missing fisherman on lake simcoe. Went out from keswick. please don't be foolish. Just stay off the main lake for a few days. this mild spell wont last. Please be safe and smart.
  17. He's usually open NYD, but I wouldn't give that guy a dime of your money. what a scammer. If its just bait your after, the guys will be open I think on the ice at Gilford. just my opinion.
  18. I'm Heading to Sprucedale on NYD and would also like to hear some reports. Would love to get out on Doe lake.
  19. Checked out Trenton @ the mouth of the river yesterday afternoon, no fish, and pretty sketchy ice. Only 4" off the park on the east side. I didn't venture out much farther than that. with the current there, I dont imagine there will be much more than that. There is a hut in between the channel markers though. I would wait a while before going there. BE SAFE!! Cheers,
  20. Make sure you dont cut the lighter plug and hook directly to a battery. The lighter plug steps down the voltage to 5.2 volts I think. (could be 5.7) hope this helps
  21. I would love a copy too. Lost mine when my computer crashed two years ago.
  22. The bait shop in Burk's Falls has most salmo lures. If he doesn't have it, he'll usually order it for you.
  23. We did really good there last weekend. Over 20 browns between my buddie and I. Listen to Drew. he knows what he is doing out there. I was going to try there today but someone told me the launch totally froze yesterday. Is it still ice free?
