  4. Haha thanks. I've these cold tempratures keep up I've got a list of lakes the length of my arm I can't wait to try out.
  5. Meh, it lasted me a season, and got me into ice fishing. Now with all the other gear I have bought this just seems like the next natural progression........ or a Quad.
  6. You'll have to let me know how it goes Chris. Bed ridden today (stupid cold) work tomorow and Saturday and Lazer quest with buddies Sunday. I'll be hitting that lake on Monday.
  7. Figures, was going to leave in 2 hours to go ice fish, sick as a dog and can't sleep. Ah well, next week.

Yes, you should have. Shame on you Jeremy, youve changed!

  8. Oh man, what a tease. Great video. Now I want Lake trout.
  9. I just found my other bass pro gift cards. Looks like I have some shopping to do later this week.
  10. Oh Oh I totally forgot, or bring in a small fish tank with weeds planted in it and nice rocky shoals but with mud underneath. Then let the kids scoop up all the mud and make a mess with shovels and explain thats what common carp do. Or ask the kids to sound like a boat and then throw large fish at them. Asian Carp!
  11. The blades are still holding out well for the unit, for the most part, its more so all the other stuff thats falling apart. I read online that I should put some locktite around the bolts holding the blades on for the BP auger so that doesn't happen again. Makes sense but then it will be hard to get the blades off when I need to replace them. I like the idea of the cooking oil to keep the water off. I'll have to remember that...... or maybe turtle wax.
  12. Personally (just because I do a lot of work with them) I love the lamprey/vaccum cleaner idea. She could attach it to a kid (or the teachers arm) they can comment how its mildly agitating and then she can mention how it must feel to not be able to remove that from your body due to lack of hands and then go into further detail.
  13. Its a shame its such a far drive, would be easy to get and preserve some round gobies this time of year. A minnow trap with kibble and 15 minutes down on Lake Ontario always yeilded about 4 or 5 whenever I needed some for presentations.
  14. Last year, when I was first getting into ice fishing I went out and bought a bass pro brand ice auger, figuring the 8 inch was only a few bucks more I decide to go with that (oops). In my second year, the handles have been falling apart, last week I lost one of the screws holding the blades and have noiced its been off and on for cutting. Today when picking up replacement blades I was looking at the fancy $100 finebore III lazer sharp 'cuts the hole for you and even catches the fish for you' ice auger and was wondering, is this all a ploy to get you to spend more money or is it really worth saving up my extra pennies and buying a top of the line manual auguer? I'm not going to get a gas powered auger because I don't have the room to hold it or bring it out on the ice and to be honest, I kinda like the exercise. But has anyone noticed a difference in the manual ones?
  15. Oh speaking of sheephead this one boarders possible and boarders wishfull thinking. I'd like to see (I don't need to catch it) an Ontario record sheephead this year. My buddy caught one last year that tips the scales at 15.5 pounds and he says on clear days he has seen bigger. I'd love to see one pushing 20+.
  16. When I lived in Wheatley nothing beat fresh caught pearch pratcially right off the boat. If I don't feel like traveling very far there is a fish and chips place at 5th street and Lakeshore in Toronto that is hard to beat for Halibut. I'm not sure what its called, we've always just called it '5th Street fish and chips'.
  17. Heeeyy..... now thats what I'm talkin about.

  18. I dunno, my buddies arn't too bright, when they hooked into it they tried pulling it off the bottom with all their might (Imagine a 250 pound guy trying to pull up a goliath grouper) the fish didn't even budge, just kept sweeping along the bottom at a laid back pace. Eventually the weight of my buddy + weight of fish snapped the line.
  19. Any Lake Trout Any Longnose Gar A girlfriend who likes fishing (not sure if thats related or not) Ha ha for me although I like seeing big fish I want to catch some new stuff. Oh also my buddy has what I'm guessing is an 80+ pound sturgeon under his dock at his cottage (Broke 30 pound braid like it was dental floss) we don't have to catch it, I'd just like to see it.
  20. Never thought I would say this in January but anyone know how the ice is around Minden

  21. I'm going to be heading to Haliburton on Tuesday. Its the only place I can be sure the ice is good.
  22. Nice job icing those splake..... I think I reocginze that lake.
  23. The really funny thing is we were fishing only about 20-30 ft off of shore. If he had walked along the bank he could have yelled at us from there. Looking back at it, the whole situation is kinda funny.
