  1. Thats ridiculous. Do people actually buy these things?? S.
  2. Depends where you go I guess. The east side is still good, but I know nothing about the west side. S.
  3. This is what I was going to say. I hate the big self propelled units personally. I'd rather have a cheap, light unit that's easy to fix. I have a husky riding more that is amazing. Love it. My push mower is an old lawn boy 2 stroker that just won't die. S.
  4. You got it. Its the action imparted on the lure from the leadcore. I have had days where only leadcore will get bit. Especially on inland lakes. I've tried the same lure, run back on long leads off riggers and couldn't get a bite. The other side of the boat with leadcore running the same depth is getting killed. Some days its the other way around too..... S.
  5. The ice will be fine for a couple weeks yet, no worries. As long as you can get on it from shore, you will be fine. The ice on simcoe is in the best shape its been in all year right now. I plan to be drilling holes into april no problem. Maybe not simcoe, but it could very well happen. The kawartha lakes have opened up due to current/ springs during the warm spell, and very high winds when we had the cold snap so they didn't tighten back up. S.
  6. Good morning everyone, my name is Sinker and I am a Perch Addict! Best fish out of fresh water IMO. Hands down. Fun to fish for, great eating, and the big ones are a challenge to catch! The best is yet to come. I love drag pullin perch!! S.
  7. This video has been going around social media for days now. It should be titled what not to do on ice. I don't get why they would drive right into that crack. Its clear that it was open, and refroze a bit....trucks don't just plunge through the ice..... The driver does something stupid and ends up in a crack usually. S.
  8. My experience with the resort run trips hasn't been great. I would look for yourself and find a local guide that will take you out. Sometimes you can find a local fisherman who will let you tag a long for a few bucks, and provide you with the best fishing. S.
  9. Anytime Cliff!! I'm going to steal your recipe. I have a brand new smoker and haven't even tried it. LOL S.
  10. I hear ya, just yankin your chain! S.
  11. I agree. Most important tool on my boat!
  12. Cooking on a fire without cast iron?? Say whaaaaa??
  13. Bucktails, and slow, slow retrieves with deep diving cranks along weed edges or anywhere you can find weeds. S.
  14. How are you at bartending and cooking lol
  15. Whats the plan for the cedar for real? Great time of year for hauling materials. Ya never know, i might just show up there this summer. Im pretty handy! S.
  16. I agree with conditions. I didnt miss a weekend or day off due to bad ice. Always somewhere safe for me. I havent spent a lot of time fishin whities, but im a perch addict. I have caught a couple though. Headed out for the next 3 days hardcore tho, so hoping to slam a few to end the season!! S.
  17. Do you have a bowmount? I use my bowmount to slow down my main engine. By just barely turning the bowmount on so its pushing against my main i can stop the boat.....or troll any speed i want. I actually prefer to slow troll with just the bowmount. Better control of the boat from the bow, but if its windy it can be a pain so i use the main/bowmount combo. Using the bowmount in reverse also keeps the bow planted if its rough.
  18. Wayne knows how to do it!! Looks great Brian!! Glad you liked it! S.
  19. I have a lot of trouble with step 4 this year. Friggen whities!! S.
  20. I've seen guys use small bags of sand to hold the skirt down. Kinda heavy to carry around, but they did work good. Kinda like bean bags. S.
  21. My post wasnt about who had the most or the biggest perch, i dont really care. I spend a ton of time fishing them and seen many, many piles of huge ones. My post was about what we are looking at in your pic of the graph. In your pic there is 2 or 3 fish on the screen, and the boat is bouncing up and down to create the ridgy looking lines. In my pic there are a lot more than one or two, and since i was on the ice the lines are smooth. The pic of the fish were the ones we caught the day i took the photo. Also notice how i am not showing the top 10ft of water on my graph, and i am not zoomed it at all. On your pic you are only showing the bottom 10ft and you are zoomed 4x. I never use zoom. I use upper and lower limits. I set the depth i want to see with no zooming. It makes for a clearer picture. Anyways, nice perch! S.
  22. That to me is a few perch, not a lot, and its from a boat in open water. I can't post pics here for some stupid reason, or I would show you a pic of a lot of perch. S.
  23. Mine stays in because I can't get it out LOL.....
  24. Awesome! Did you double fry the fries? I'm not a great cook, but fish and chips is my specialty! I like a home made beer batter on whities, but that does look great! S.
