  1. Oooooooh....Ahhhh......TILLER Looking good roy. I could use one just like that on mine. Is that a 50 or a 60? What was on it before? Can't wait to hear about the maiden voyage! Sinker
  2. Right on fella's!! Glad to hear you got into some. Easy isn't it? Sinker
  3. Thanks for posting that here Spiel. Shane is a great guy, who offers nothing but help to many people. Most, he's never even met. We need more like him in this world. Its time he gets a little help now. Sinker
  4. Good thing they cancelled the spring bear hunt. I have them around my place too......just in the last few years. I'm gonna hunt them this fall. I'd like a nice rug Sinker
  5. Most spools of line are made so you put the spool of line on the floor with the label facing up, then just reel it on with some tension on the line. Don't over fill it. Leave about 1/8 " from the edge of your reel spool. Sinker
  6. Im with gone fishin, the weeds arent going to be up as high as they should be yet. The cranks and jigs will likely be your best bet. If you saw the eyes I get out of the kawartha's on small spinner baits, you'd be tryin them Trust me, they eyes love em, and they're easy to fish. Sinker
  7. Now your talkin!!! You buy the gas......I'll drive Sinker
  8. Yup, I have one of those too. The only thing I don't like about it is the plastic on the bail arm.....where the roller is. I find the line cuts a groove in the plastic...then it will always run thru that groove.....fraying your line. Other than that, its a great reel. I caught one in rice lake one time......with a rod attached, and line.....which had a crappie on the end....LOL. Still works to this day. Sinker
  9. I have a similar shimano clarus that I run a diawa laguna on. Its been a great reel so far. Should cost around $100 or so. Its in the hardbody series, so has an all metal body. Its been working good for 3 or 4 seasons now, and I also use it for icefishing as well. Very smooth, and a great drag. Sinker
  10. I had a similar experience. You have to keep them dry, and take the batts out when your done. Sinker
  11. I was using 50lb on the weekend, with an 8lb mono lead. I like to keep my leader as long as my rod on simcoe....its super clear. worked fine, we hauled them like crazy. My first time using braid for them. Sinker
  12. At least it wasn't all wasted. Poached is one thing, but to poach it, then leave it to waste is another story all together. Sinker
  13. Nice fish!! Congrats on your first eye!! What happened with that deer? It was just hung and left to rot? No meat taken off it? Seems weird that someone would risk poaching a deer....just to leave it there. Sinker
  14. Still wont work for me......I'm stuck with nanook I guess
  15. Wow.....I've never seen one of them before. They are a rare species in Ontario.....you can report it here: http://nhic.mnr.gov.on.ca/MNR/nhic/species...cies_report.cfm Apparently, there are only 7 reported.......your one lucky fella to get that fish!! Sinker
  16. Hey....great report, and welcome back. That's one nice spot you've got yourself there. Your own little chunk of heaven!! Thanks for posting, Sinker
  17. I must be in the same room as you Nanook Sinker
  18. Haha.....nice report GCD. Glad to see you got out. Got anything from this month? Some nice fish today. There must have been thousands in there Sinker
  19. Any way you look at it.......vanish is garbage!! IMO Can't stand that stuff. Nothing but a headache for me. I've never had PP break though.....unless I cut it. You can anchor a boat with 50lb.....LOL. Sinker
  20. When you put your line on, did you run a pencil through the spool of line? Thats a no-no for a spinning reel. Put the spool on the floor with the label up, and it won't twist. Sinker
  21. I also had similar problems with mine last fall. I though for sure it was a fuel problem, but it turned out to be the head gasket. It was less then $200 to get a new one put in, and I had it back in 2 days. Check your plugs. Mine had one plug that was wet......you could tell it was oil mixed with water, it had that milky colour on the plug. Just a thought...... Sinker
  22. Most rental boats are at least 14 footers, and dont fall into the length category for an operators card. I think its 3 meters or less requires a license, thats less than 14ft. So, no, you don't need the card for a rental. Sinker
  23. Nice pics....but, I've been there, done that.....I'd rather be fishing on the worste day of spring. I did catch fish.....and some real nice ones at that.
  24. I don't think anyone is getting sore with you Clamp-it. (I could be wrong ) All I'm saying is that if your going to sit home and whine about the typical may weather we had over the weekend, your not gonna catch much. I fished saturday and sunday in cold, wind, rain, sun, sleet, wet snow/bugs........and I had a great time. I wouldn't change a thing. I find fishing in adverse conditions is a great learning tool.....you've gotta work a little harder for your fish, but you learn something everytime. What did ya learn at home on the puter? If you don't get out and try it, you won't get any better at fishing in tough conditions. Its like JohnAB said......it just adds to the adventure. Sinker
