  1. Hahahahha...... Sorry TJ! S.
  2. Rice lake is probably the worste map of all the maps I've used. Its not so great. There is a lot of structure on the map that just isn't there, but the main stuff that you will want to fish is there, and you will find some good stuff in the lake that isn't on the map. I find the rest of the trent severn is pretty good....good enough anyways. S.
  3. Do you have an electric motor? If you do, just turn it so its pushing the opposite direction of your main. I can slow my troll down to almost stopped doing this. My electric will troll me up to about 2.5mph, and my main will only go down to 2.5, but there are days when trollign with the electric is tough (windy), so I troll with the main, and use the bowmount to slow me down. Works like a charm. S.
  4. I didnt make it to :15. I woulda left it there. S.
  5. I have a buddy who drives from bancroft to TO every day. Thats just nuts....before that he was in ptbo. S.
  6. Im kinda spoiled. Within 2 hours of my door I have more lakes than I could fish in my lifetime, so I tend to not go too far for day trips. S.
  7. Im gonna get the diesel, just want to wait a bit so they can figure ouut any issues, and maybe ford or GM will offer a similar set up too. S.
  8. Ive done the commuting, and to me its worth it to live in the country and travel to work, but thats just me. I couldnt live in the city. Right now im driving 30km one way, with 3 stop signs and no stop lights. Hwy 115 is a little crazy in the winter, but as long as youu watch out for the idiots, its not too bad. If I take the trail from home to work its only 13km....i do that when im running late S.
  9. Its a great road trip, eh? We did good on gas across the prairies. Going thru the mountains we sucked back fuel like crazy. Foot to the floor all the way up, and the engine brake screaming all the way down lol. Looks like everyone had a great time! My brother is loving it out there! I want to come back for some halibuut/ling fishing next suummer! S.
  10. Glad to hear you got the lowrance. I assume you had the engine repaired? I forget what chip I have. I think its the gold...the rail bed is clearly marked on it lol S.
  11. Yep, coulda just passed thru at that time. Last week my gf and I were trolling my usuual spot for eyes...nothing doing...and we always pick away at them. I was just going to pull the plug when bang..she hooks up...hers wasnt even in the boat and boom, I have one on. I marked a waypoint, spun around and before the lines were all the way out, she has another! Not a minute later I have one too. We made 3 passes thruu that spot in 30 mins and put 6 eyes in the boat, then nothing. Ive tried that spot every time since, and havent even marked a fish. Sometimes you just never know. Its what keeps me coming back! The only sure thing is you wont catch 'em holding down the couch S.
  12. Brian knows. Watch that rod close. A lot of times you can hardly tell its a fish. Other times they slam it. I would be using the rigger. Troll deep, and when you mark a fish up high, raise the ball to the fish's depth and higher. Ive never cauught a laker in simcoe on a gang troll, but in other lakes they seem like the only thing that works. Ive cauught fish on them with kwickfish, rapalas, plastics, and even streamer flies behind them, but always in sheild lakes. Keep atter. You'll learn something every time you try. Thats the whole point IMO....you can never stop learning! S.
  13. 67 on rice right now. Was 78 on wed last week. One small eye tonight and thats it.... S.
  14. Yep, Elite 5 comes in a portable kit with both transducers. S.
  15. Look up EZ steer. S.
  16. I like the elite 5. Works great. S.
  17. I have a similar boat, but a tiller, and I"ll tell ya, with a 9.9 on the back, she would move along just fine. A 5hp is more than enough for my rig. I'm sure this rig is a bit heavier, but really its the same kind of hull, same size, just has a console. My buddy has a 9.9 on his full console 16ft princecraft and it is more than enough. I'd say 7.5 is plenty. I'd also go 4 stroke if you can, but the 2 strokers never quit! S.
  18. Yep, its pretty much that simple. S.
  19. Awesome! I don't care how many top water musky you've caught, its amazing EVERY time! S.
  20. That right there is what its ALL about! Good stuff Mike. Kids dont forget trips like that. EVER!! S.
  21. Just make sure you have enough room for it there before making the purchase. You may need a kicker bracket if the transom is cut out for you main engine, and the rest is too high for even a longshaft. S.
  22. Longhshaft is needed if you plan on mounting the engine right to your transom beside main. S.
  23. I haven't seen 80 anywhere yet either. Rice was 77 early this week. I bet its hovering around 70 now though. S.
  24. Drew, keep everything connected, uunplug the motor, and charge one battery at a time until you get an onboard 2 bank charger. If you have two chargers, put one on each battery. Still no need to dissconnect them. Simple. Enjoy the new setup! Im jealous!! S.
  25. Hey Cliff, if you don't get it done, I'm off tues/wed. I'd be happy to help ya. I'm pretty good with interlock to boot (PS, I'm bringing my boat up there tues/wed regardless, so let me know if that works. I'll fish when we're done for the day) S.
