wallyboss replied to johnthefisherman's topic in General Discussion
Label facing up but to make sure, first time out on the water slowdown let all your line out with no lure let drag behind the boat for a couple of minutes then reel it back in while and apply pressure on the line with you thumb and finger. -

Great one again Moose!!!!! -
Rob V I'll let you know shortly cause that is exactly what I will setup on my boat.

I tought that the best place on a fiberglass boat is to mount it inside, the transducer shoots thru the fiberglass.

There is an article on them in the May 08 Ontario Out Of Doors magazine. Blue walleyes do exist. I've caught plenty on Dumoine Lake.

What I used was a 3 ft piece of booster cables with clamp on 1 end and the charger clip to the other end.
-
I did like they said in the book, just because they said it in the book. I think it's so when you hook up the charger to it that it doesn't spark close to the battery. I might be out in left field on this one but!!!!!!

I think that the motor if you take the cover off there should be a notch in the flywheel. Just amke sure you have a rope with a knot at the end and then you can turn the rope aroun and then crank. Not sure if all are like that but some are.

Did I follow flag etiquette when I used a Canadian flag as drapes for my apartment window when I was in college. It was new , right side up, washed every 2 months, you could see the whole flag from the outside???

I had to get the tranny replaced in my Escape 3 years ago at 92,000 kms. I was sure glad I had the extended warranty. Final bill on thta repair was way more than what I paid for the extended warranty. I am not mechanically inclined so none of the mechanical work I can do myself, so I usually get the extended warranty .

A wax candle rubbed on both pieces will go a long way and will not attract dust and sand.

All we've heard so far is the employee's side of the story. I will be picking up my Extra Large Double Double as usual this morning and every other morning. I am sure that anybody in there right mind would fire somebody for giving a Timbit away. Unless she was already warned not to do that again!!!!

You need to get yourself an electric fillet knife, it sure cuts down on the filleting time.

I agree with Irishfield. If you catch your limit one day and you get home you can give it to a neighbour(he doesn't need to have a license to possess) but you cannot go back fishing that day because you have caught your daily limit. But you can go back the next day and catch another limit because you don't have any in your possession.

Just trying to keep the sport safe Steve!!! You'll enjoy it. One of teh good things about Zebra mussells is that they extended the visibility underwater which is always good for a diver.

What I still can't understand is some of you guys giving your opinion on this and your opinion on that, concerning hockey!!! If you know hockey that much then why in the heck are most of you "Leafs fans". Doesn't that prove that you know nothing about hockey. Even if the Hab's lose the next one, isn't still 12 more games played this yaer than the Leafs.

I never said 5-6 beers in 45 minutes, I had 5-6 beers that afternoon. And yes I told him after I went to my first course the next Winter that he messed up. That afternoon I tought that everything was okay, cause nothing happened. I had nothing to blame myself for, I tought it was cool and I wanted to try it. But the whole point of my story was to make sure that Steve got a proper course. Because of the history of some of the Dive Shops down south. And to let him know that for a couple of 100 bucks that he can go on a PADI refresher course.
-
That's what I am saying , he should've said " No I am not lending you the equipment" right at first. Now I know that's the number one rule because I took the course. But back then I didn't know, I tought it was cool, It was a nice summer day and I was having fun. And the reason I took the course was because I had so much fun. But he broke the rule of lending his equipment to uncertified divers. I had no idea that it could be that dangerous. It was just a friendly warning to Steve, that maybe he wasn't given all the necessary info. I am really surprised that I was called stupid for trying to help a fellow scuba diver.
-
Steve it might be a good idea to get in touch with a PADI insctructor here in Canada and ask him to test you for your scuba certification. When I took my course here in Canada they warned us about the courses down south, most places are just interested in making quick money and you are not getting a full course. My course was 4 hours a night, 2 nights a week for 2 months. Then 2 full days off check outs. Unless you spent your whole vacation in a classroom, I doubt that you were given a proper course. The reason I am bringing this up is that some former friend had taken one of those crash courses in Fla. The summer after they had taken it they rented equipment to go up to the cottage and do a couple of dives. They asked me to drive up with them because I had a Jimmy back then and they needed to bring 8 scuba tanks and all the equipment. I said sure, as we got to the cottage the other buddy called and said that he couldn't make it until the next day. So I asked my buddy if I could try it out. He said sure. He had just broken the #1 rule of not letting uncertified divers use his equipment. Then he gave me his diving book and told me to read thru it just to give me pointers. I did that while drinking 5-6 beers, he never told me not to. He just broke the #2 rule, not telling me to Never to dive while under the influence. So I put on all the diving stuff. then we went diving, I had somebody else's equipment and I needed a it more weight to keep me down there. So I went to the bottom and picked up a rock off the bottom and I took off and never saw him again for 45 minutes. He broke the #3 rule by not telling me to stay in view range of him. Also he never told me about the #4 rule which is never to hold your breath underwater. If I would've ran out of air I would held my breath and would've swam up to the surface, I would be dead now if I had done that. I know that he never forced me to do any of this but he shouldn't have never said yes when I asked. I had a great time during that 45 minute dive, so the next winter I enrolled into a course and after the first class I said to myself. What The hell. So I have not befriended this guy ever since. He took my life into his own hands and didn't give a crap. So do yourself a favor and contact A PADI instructor, they have refresher courses. Your life might depend on it.

How about passing a car when you have double full lines. Some places you have those 2 solid lines but you can clearly see way ahead . Is it illegal to pass or just not suggested to pass??? -
What is the maximum allowable length of a dock?

Maybe it would be a good idea to get your septic system checked out, especially beside a waterway that thrives on the fishing industry. -
Do you also carry a 12G in your boat for spot stealers????? I agree that they shouldn't be there, but keep in mind that they are also hunting so chances are that they also have shotguns???????
-
Clampit maybe it's because you don't know how to fillet to start with!!!! It takes me about 1 minutes per walleye with the electric and there is no waste. And I'll clean a limit of crappies in about 20 minutes. used to be 45 minutes.

Get a ac/dc Rapala electric knife and you will never go back to regular knives.
