I've had a Hamby's Keel Protector on probably my last 7/8 boats, highly recommend having one! Keel Guards look like they are a quality product.

This was at the Lindsay lock/dam!

The Navionics Platinum+ & Hotmaps Platinum are also on sale for the month of May! So if you were in need of a new chip... -
Another cool interesting project by good friend, Bruce Tufts and his students at Tufts Lab(Queen's University)! Amazing how far these fish travel! I wonder if the one that went up the St. Lawrence River was caught & kept?
-
Beautiful fish and another amazing mount by the folks at Advanced Taxidermy!
-
Thanks but the fishing was a lot tougher on tournament day! Surprisingly the weatherman was wrong with his forecast! LOL
-
Amazing, you can walk across the emeralds! I've had them cough up shiners, gobies & baby perch, damn cannibals! LOL
-
Been a tough spring weather-wise and the water is still cold. We went out one day and slayed them. Then the weather changed the next day and we were hard pressed to find even small ones!

This is on Lake Simcoe, one of the world's foremost perch fisheries! I'll post some pics from our perch tournament today shortly!

They're all set up and biting! This is going to be a beautiful weekend to get out for a feed of perch! We released the biggest ones to help sustain the population! 1/8 oz. Ultra Tungsten ball jigs with various plastics were the key! Figure out what depth they're at, stay on that depth using your Navionics charts and you'll smash them but please be selective.

Nice Slab Crappies!

Navionics just added a cool feature to their Platinum+ and HotMaps Platinum chips, SonarCharts Shading, high definition relief shading on the Satellite Overlay layer. This feature allows you to discern depth changes easily! https://www.navionics.com/usa/blog/post/sonarchart-shading-being-added-to-platinum-and-hotmaps-platinum/?fbclid=IwAR05slZtt-0k0nAaStSbvVcpkupu50U5U1nldAoF9pfd7IeueH87-FTOdZU

We don't need to go that fast! My boat runs in the 70's and that is plenty fast! Things happen real fast at those speeds! Scary stuff!
-
Great rod for the money! I use a couple for my panfish & brookie fishing! It really depends on your budget, at a slightly higher price point the new Daiwa Tatula rods are awesome. They've gone back to cork handles which I love! There is a 7'2" Meavy Heavy model TTU721MHFS which is nice & stout!

Don't you worry if they pay out guess who will be footing the bill eventually!

Fishing Spots within 2-3 hours of the GTA
David Chong replied to S_EEk_ER's topic in General Discussion
Tons of great fishing in that range! Less shore fishing access than before but if you have a boat, you're golden! -
I actually do most of my fishing at this event from various shore spots. There is just not as many as previously available. The good people from Orillia have mostly the same issues when it comes to shore fishing! The loss of these areas are usually a result of a small minority abusing the privilege by littering and not repeating the properties of others.
-
Yes, sadly although there are still some shore access, we have lost a lot! Probably the biggest loss was the Orchard Point Pier which I spent tons of time at as a kid! ???
-
Lots of memories have been made at this event! I used to spend my vacations in Orillia growing up as my aunt & uncle ran the Golden Dragon in town and we chased perch at the Orchard Point & Town docks! Great memories!

Atherley Narrows are open in Oriilia but the water is still cold and the perch are very slowly coming in! Was there yesterday and the surface temp was only 36 degrees F!
