Hi all, Seems like we are getting a somewhat 'normal' winter this year. Lots of snow and lots of ice with a slow and steady thaw happening. Been out lots, for every species, really nice to have the options of whatever mode of transport takes your fancy, be it sleds, quads, sXside, or just jump in your truck.8 points

I use the ice transducer because it is weighted and you can just drop it down the hole without needing a bracket to mount it on to have it at the right angle to work. The bracket works fine, I used one before I had an 'Iceducer' but the unit is more portable and less cumbersome with an ice transducer, so that's why i got a live scope because I missed the inconvenience of lugging an awkward and cumbersome piece of kit around the ice....lol.2 points

I too was a huge fan of Yes, I had at least 5 of their albums, the first one being Close to the Edge. I even had the Rick Wakeman album Six Wives of Henry the Eighth. Lol I never figured I'd be seeing comments here about partying with Sid, I was well acquainted with him too but never went overboard on it. Anyone remember windowpane?2 points

If you are gonna get one get the Garmin…hands down superior to the Humminbird. you are correct in that it is “passive” in its use but valuable nonetheless. Even an expensive LiveScope can’t find fish that aren’t there. If there are fish there, or just a few fish it will show you when they are there and ‘how’ they are. It will show if they are suspended, on the bottom or both. It shows in real time the fish reacting to your bait. I can even tell by the angle and speed of the graph mark which fish is gonna bite and the ones that are window shoppers. I can also tell the species by the speed and movement of the signals. I don’t like to fish without mine, very effective tool to have.2 points

Highlander tows up to 5,000 lbs without a towing package. https://www.toyota.ca/en/vehicles/highlander/overview/ So does the 4Runner. https://www.toyota.ca/en/vehicles/4runner/overview/ And the Honda Pilot. https://www.honda.ca/en/pilot All three are solid tow platforms, utterly reliable, and often available as lease-returns on the used lot to save a few bucks.1 point

Always remember that towing capacity is the maximum a vehicle can tow with no cargo at all, half a tank of fuel and a 150lb driver. Anything extra, start dropping those lbs off the max capacity. 3cyl diesel tractors pull lots of weight but you need to remember that they are geared really low, they don’t go out on the highways and are designed to pull a lot of weight. 3-4 cyl cars and cuv’s/suv’s typically can pull up to 2000lbs on a good day. You need something with a v6.1 point

Same here, huge Wakeman fan. A few years back, when Yes were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Rick (who seemed a little "over refreshed" from the celebrations) told a joke during his acceptance speech, that's always stuck with me: "Now that I'm an older man I had to go the doctor's for a Prostate exam. So I drop my trousers, bend over, hear the snap of the rubber glove, and it feels like a gerbil is burrowing itself into my backside. The doctor says to me, "Don't be embarrassed, it's not uncommon to get an erection during this part of the exam". I answer, "But doctor, I don't have an erection". The doctor replies, "I know, but I do".1 point

Wow, that's going to take me a thousand of hours on ice to be able to interpret the chart like that. How come you are using an ice fishing transducer instead of using the transducer that come with the kit? What were the reasons you opt the ice fishing transducer?1 point

"Yours is No Disgrace" was the encore, but they finished their set with "Roundabout"...which is still floatin' in my head some 48 years later... Also that day...Bob Seger, J. Geils and Donovan ..1 point

Hi all, been fun fishing here. Guided some guys from Iowa for crappie a couple times in the last couple of weeks, they left and came back… lol . Weather held until the last day. So glad I didn’t have to clean any fish this time…1 point

A few years ago, my daughter and I started a little project to create a fishing alphabet book. I figured it was a good way for her to learn about fishing, reading and books. I could also use the opportunity to try and convince her that I was a better angler than I actually am. It took about two years of long stretches of procrastination, sprinkled with some focused work, and fishing interruptions to get it done. The original idea was just to create a simple printable book in black and white but as I got more into it, it kept growing with the eventual goal of publishing it on Amazon. I'm really happy with the end result and would love for some people to see it. The book is called "L is for Lunker" and is available on Amazon. I'm also more than happy to send anyone a digital copy of the book. Just send me a pm.1 point

I would be careful with this, I think this could be illegal on two counts: 1. Bait It is illegal to (or attempt to) deposit or release into, or within 30 metres of, any waters: live or dead bait or baitfish, including fish eggs, gametes or fish parts 2 Chumming Chumming (baiting an area to attract fish) is allowed for common carp and for attracting other fish species, but only with plant-based baits as defined in general fishing regulations.1 point

By Canada imposing tariffs on goods imported from the US the intention is to make American businesses suffer. For example if we have to pay 25% more for orange juice from Florida, then a lot of Canadians may stop buying it and switch to apple juice produced in Ontario. So these tariffs will hurt US producers/mfgr's and hopefully they will pressure Trump/US gov't to end tariffs on their side, so we will end ours. Hence, the term "trade war".1 point
