This was me Christmas morning 2015 and it looks like maybe a repeat this year too.

I should have been out chasing muskie yesterday.

A balmy +11C here today, what little snow we had is GONE, hopefully for a long time.

Looking at the long range forecast, it's going to be a while before we can ice fish in southern Ontario. Hopefully, it's not like 2002...most Simcoe operators didn't even get their huts out that year. That was an El Nino winter, just like this one.

2015 was insane, I specifically remember Christmas even night in st Catherine’s it was 14 degrees and we had a thunderstorm.

My wife has been away for a bit, and I was at deer camp for a week, so I have been enjoying LOTS of wild game. But I rarely take pictures of my meals, even when my wife isn't around. (If she is, she wonders what the heck I am doing taking pictures of the food...) One dish I dreamed up and would make again was ground venison, cooked with diced vidalia onions, with green peppercorn sauce and acini de pepe pasta. First meal was all that mixed together. On the rebound, I took half of the leftovers, put it in a loaf pan, added a layer of shredded mozarella, a second layer of the meat and pasta mixture, topped it with a generous layer of mozarella, and into the oven at 325 for three quarters of an hour. Very toothsome. A hunting buddy shot a nice bull elk in BC this fall, and gave me some elk steak. I pan-fried it to just barely rare, then cooked a couple free range eggs in the pan juices. Those eggs had been collected less than a couple hours before they went into the pan. That one I did photograph. And for the record, I actually had a SALAD with it! Doug

First and foremost please understand I'm not posting this for anyone to feel sorry for me, maybe I shouldn't be posting it at all but several of my friends here on the Fishing Forum became very fond of my boy and best friend on the planet, Trooper. I posted a couple pics of him when H H came up with the idea and a great one of sharing pics of our four legged buddy's. I liked each and every one of them. Sadly Trooper passed away Saturday morning. I know I'm not the only one to have gone through this, it's the hardest thing, I've been through it a few times and if anything it just gets harder. Man, life is sure empty without him. I seldom went any where without him, we loved each other to death. His biggest thing was meeting people, he liked every one. He was always so happy as all dogs should be. Thank you.
