  1. I replaced a bad capacitor on a Samsung and it lasted a few more years. My next one also had a problem at 18 months old and I had to spend $300+ on a new motherboard.. my LG fridge had a compressor failure at 18 months. I had ordered a maytag but was informed that it was not available a couple of weeks later. They offered an upgraded LG for the same price so I took it.. I wish we had stronger lemon protection laws but since our economy relys on consumerism there is no desire for that

  3. Basically everything in that kit except the weights looks useless i don’t know why you’d wanna drop shot with a giant ewg looking hook. No idea why they have some weird looking nail weights then there’s no need for swivels or snaps to drop shot. go to Canadian tire and get some gamakatsu drop shot hooks in size 2 and some drop shot weights in 1/4 and call it a day. Should cost you about $15

  4. Well, this is day 4 already, I've been too busy enjoying it to sit down and post. What a beautiful place! We are in The Point cottage, the view is spectacular, and the cottage has everything we need. It's been hot, 28 -29 sunny, with little to no wind and the lake is like glass. It's taken me a couple of days to get orientated, the lake is 12 miles long with something like 80 islands. Even with a detailed map learning which island is "cabin island" or "Ray's bay" was a challange but John (the owner) aranged for some other guests with 15 years experience to give us a tour and point out landmarks. Now I am comfortable running right down to the end of the lake. Smallmouth are hittin like crazy fight like heck and are amazing eating. Clear skys and calm waters are not the best conditions for walleye. There's no shortage of them, we have seen plenty and if you are willing to go out VERY early or VERY late you will have no trouble catching all the walleye you want. We haven't targeted lake trout, pike, or white fish and none of the other guests have either so no report there. This morning we went to a speck lake where the lodge has a small tinny. My friend Ken had grabbed two containers of worms from our fridge before we left. Unfortunatly there was only 1 worm in the one container and two in the other lol. We did manage to catch two nice specks, had several follows, and missed about 5 that took swipes at our spinners and didn't get the hook. I am amazed at the level of service here, new motors on all the boats, a beautiful pool (which is really handy when it's 29*c) everything is so nice and clean and they make you feel like you are family. Every lodge has it's pros and cons, I am really hard pressed to find a con here. I'll give this place a 5 star rating and you can bet I am already booking for next year.

  5. Bay front park in Hamilton is free also I very very strongly suggest you review the capacity limit of your vessel. What you are describing, taking 5 people onto an inflatable dingy sounds extremely dangerous

  6. Palomar knots truthfully are so bloody easy to tie and basically work with all diameters of line. to a point, when using heavier gauge fluro for pike leaders etc I will tie it to connect to my lure. I like the eugene knot for fluro under 20lbs. the number one reasonwhy I use these knots are they are what I’m able to tie when I lose dexterity in my fingers essentially any time the air temperature is below 10 degrees C (raynauds syndrome is a PITA) once again I simply complain about breakage. With the palomar knot, but to each his own. Learn the knot though, there are many times you will be fishing with straight braid, frogging, flipping, throwing a jig at cover, heck even whack rigging if you are fishing pads…in that case just run a palomar knot with straight braid and give err

  8. I have to second Cliff's rating of Chapleau Lodge. I'll be there in late July, and it will be my 43rd consecutive year fishing there. Yes, it's a 5 star operation.

  10. Not be overlooked are the estuaries of the Lake O tributaries. The Credit, 16 Mile and Bronte all have boat launches. Depending on the time of year you can catch Silver Bass, Smallmouth, Carp, Catfish and the occasional Pike. Steelhead and Salmon in the spring and fall.

  11. pike opens the second saturday in May on island lake. (before venturing into any new water, always read the regs!) You will catch a bunch of perch and small panfish probably fishing with bobbers and worms. For something more exciting learn how to cast spoons to catch pike. The fish this time of year will be moving towards the warmest water closest to the deeper parts of the lake. If you are into getting serious about fishing, Id suggest just doing a load of googling about how to target whatever species you are looking to catch. Its a life long learning process that gets more and more detailed the more serious you take it. You can decide to be a worm and bobber fisherman and that suits some people just fine to go out in a boat toss out a worm and wait for a bite while relaxing, or you step your game up a bit and make things more involved, but also some would argue have more fun doing it. Or you can be stupid like me and spend all of your expendable income to stare at panoptix for 8 hours straight chasing laketrout around. I was also once a kid throwing spoons for pike from a tinner too. We all start somewhere. Let us know how you fare!

  12. Satellite receivers have been like that for a long time. Echostar (bell) uses cheaper components that barely meet specs. I've repaired 3 of them over the years and every failure has been capacitors. 1 of them I had to use a good receiver and compare readings with a meter and 2 of them a visual inspection was all that was needed to spot the swollen cans caused by excessive heat. Those receivers are always on if plugged in and run quite hot all the time, both of ours are always removed from power every night. I have mine sitting on spacers to allow more air flow underneath. The last one I fixed had two bad caps. So the system runs on 5V and the caps are only rated for 6.3 volts. Add in a very hot environment and the cans swell and next thing you know you can't get a satellite signal. For a few cents more the could have used a higher rated cap to reduce failure rates but of course then they wouldn't sell as many replacements.
