  1. ...and for panfish my kids would catch them non-stop when we vacationed on Pigeon Lake. I always had a line of kids standing in front of me while I removed bluegill, sunnies and rockers and re-baited hooks. We would vacation with a group of people and I was the dad who fished. But all the kids liked to. They would get an hour twice a day where we would fish from shore and I had a never ending line of fish hanging from scooby doo and barbie rods. Good times

  2. Bass season opens this weekend for most of southern Ontario. Curious...when you take that first cast on Saturday morning, what's going to be hanging on the end of your line ? And what are you targeting...green fish or brown fish ? Although because of a (stupid) nephew's wedding, I won't be able to get out until Monday...for me it's Smallies on a jerkbait...probably Shadow Rap Shad in Black/Silver.

  4. There’s not better sinking feeling then when the OPP asks you to “turn on” your waterproof flashlight that you haven’t turned on in months lol

  5. I’m late to the party that is this thread but luckily Ontario has two openers saturday morning I pulled up to our first stop with a ghost coloured vision 110 and caught a pickerel lol suddenly noticed some suspended smallies off the shoal and quickly one fell victim. Then I noticed a school of gills getting chased by something surfacing, threw the 110 and proceeded to put 4 of our 5 fish mixed bag in the boat. headed off to flip in the afternoon and culled once, missle d bomb with a pegged 3/4 tungsten. Love me some slop. this Saturday it’s most certainly going to be smallmouth. I’ll be throwing an evergreen shower blow and a Ned rig for a follow up for any missed blow ups. Once the sun gets high I’ll be grinding an evergreen cr-8 all over that shield rock. I have a week off of work next week so later in the week I’ll go on a mission to get a tinner into a local back lake that’s loaded with giant largemouth. Our smallest bag ever out of it was 22lbs. this year I’m going to try pop my swim bait virginity throwing a deps bull shooter and see if I can crack a 6 out of the pond. Mix that with a big gabot in the pads. Swinging for the fences!

  6. No vertical adjustment. Dunno how many guys that would work for. I know it wouldn't work for me. I've got my Helix 12 on the biggest ram mount, I'm actually going to sand the 'balls' later today. Great tip Crowman! lol

  8. Third trip of the year and he's loving it.. He'll be 6 in August so stil using a bait cast and hasn't quite figured out the cast yet (admittedly I haven't let him try it yet). Anyhow, so far we've hit Dalrymple, Cooks and Balsam, which we fished yesterday. Always heard great things about Balsam but we got skunked there yesterday.. We fished in front of the park from 5 to 18 feet (the drop off) but not a single panfish caught, which surprised me. Next on the list is Cameron... I've also heard good things about it. Anyone want to share their favourite panfish lake, I'd love to hear from you! We are near the 400 and 9 so anything within 2 hours of that or so, would be fine. Those of you who followed my thread on my lower unit oil leak - motor has run well so far since that thread earlier in the spring. I haven't drained the oil yet but plan to do so this week. But the motor is running strong so I am hoping all is good!

  9. I'm a HUGE fan of Geigertec mounts. They're hand-made in Aurora, Ontario to an absolutely insane quality standard by people who actually fish. The guy who runs it (Tim Fernandes) is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. Website is https://www.geigertecmarine.com I like to support Canadian companies whenever I can, but flag waving aside, these really are the highest quality mounts I've ever seen - bar none. Yes, they're expensive and yes, pricing on the website is in USD ... which reflects the fact that's where 95% of their customers are located. BUT ... these brackets will last a lifetime and you'll never worry about having an expensive display bounce around in rough water, or detach altogether (as I had happen a few years back with another bracket). They really are as good as it gets.
