  1. So I did up that pork loin yesterday, took a good while to slice, trim and then pound down the cutlets with a rubber mallet. I got 20 all told of different sizes. It was exactly five pounds of cutlets, maybe 2 lbs of trim for mince pork and another pile of waste, mostly fat. So today wifey did the prep, first dip in seasoned flour, then egg and milk mix and then into the smoked bread crumbs. Placed them on parchment paper on two large cookie sheets and the into the fridge for a good hour. Then the two of us got at frying them in two cast iron pans with a good two inches of oil and some butter mixed in and in 30 minutes we were done as it takes maybe three minutes at the most to get them nice and brown and crispy. Once cooled they got vacuum sealed and frozen. Makes for a great quick meal, once thawed it's only a quick fry to heat them up. Did I mention how damn good they are hehe. I could never go back to store bought and I'd put them up against any restaurant easily. My daughter moved in for a few months while looking for a house and once she'd tried them her eyes lit up whenever I told her there was one in the fridge for her. I did remember the before and after pics this time. I know I posted before about these but wth, they're worth it. EDIT: oops, I meant to post this in the cooking thread, but the bread and paprika were done in the smoker

  2. I'd look at these. I almost considered selling my superfisherman and getting the Freedom 18. It's a hella nice rig for a mid size semi utility, and I sometimes miss the tiller layout. last I checked Marsh's marine had a 16 in stock. Might be gone now.

  4. starcraft is now basically a smoker craft...and if my experience with a smoker is worth anything...stay the heck away. Hands down the worst riding boat I have ever been in. My old man runs an alumacraft trophy 185 and my best friend has a 17 foot crestliner...both are fantastic boats. The alumacraft specifically feels a heck of a lot like a lund. Which is saying a lot because you already know how a lund looks and feels.

  5. Yep, quite a few things in common. If your like me, and don't need fancy schmancy to catch fish, look at the starcraft freedom series. They are solid, and very versatile hulls. If you want more fancy, check the alumacrafts. They are sweet. I am torn, because i am a tiller guy to the bones, but i need a bigger boat, mostly for great lakes trolling, so do I get a big tiller like I want? Or do I get a windshield for me? For the passengers? I just don't know. I sure do love my buddies alumacraft competitor 185 with a 90 yammy tiller though. She's sweet! I've also head of a company called TEAM boats (I think, out of Bala?) that make all welded hulls. Similar to a Stanley style boat. S. S.

  9. Yup, like porkpie said. Those chinooks will have their bellies on the bottom. I've tried to 'salvage' a day with lakers only to realize they weren't lakers, lol.
