  1. Hey guys, had the opportunity to do some back country brook trout fishing last week for a couple of days, have tried doing this before with minimal success but this time around was different. Nothing crazy size wise but it was nice to finally get into some brookies after watching countless youtube videos, and doing tons of reading. This lake was about 40 mins off the main road and has been stocked regularly for probably the past decade. All fish were caught on small bright colored jerkbaits, it was a riot. Heres some pics those are a few of em, also lost a real nice on that was super coloured up with the nice red belly. One problem we were having was the fish were really tail nipping the jerkbaits and our hook up/landed fish ratio was terrible. Probably less than 50%, dull-ish hooks most likely being the culprit but the way these fish roll when you hook em they seem to be very good at throwing hooks. Also one thing that surprised me was how acrobatic some of these fish were jumping 4 feet out of the water. Is this characteristic of brookies? Never seen this in any videos ive watched lol. Lastly all fish were caught tight to shore near fallen timber or boulders.

  2. Hey Guys, Spent a few days on the water this past weekend and ive realized just through looking at photos from past years and a facebook memories reminder and what went on this past weekend that the smallmouth bass fishing is perhaps the best you will have all year right now. Reports i see from Simcoe say the same thing, the fish are up reasonably shallow, stacked up and feeding like absolute crazy. I had one of the best days on the water in my life on Thursday. The sunny calmer weather vs that weird crazy windy weather weve been having seems to be like a light switch. Get out there and have some fun if you can!

  4. I found no difference as far as balance goes. I can even stand and still feel safe . I have had it out in 2 ft waves and it just rides the waves. No fear of tipping of flipping over. I think it is about a 6" dif in width. I ran a 55lb on my pontoon. 3.5 mph 100%. Balance between you and the motor and battery is a must. I had the seat fully forward. Battery behind the seat and motor after that. A 30lb will be ok, but slower. The older 30 lb motor are not as good as the new. The older ones use 100% no matter the speed, as the newer ones only use what you demand from it. I am hoping to get out this Saturday to give the 30lb I got a go with the battery. I want to see how the rig handles the battery weight and motor. I am lucky that I can keep the battery at the bow. I see no reason I should have any problems. This thing drifted through 3" of water with out touching the bottom with all my gear and me so far. Happy with my new ride.

  7. I hope your cousin recovers with no long term effects, and soon...and that he comes around to the fact that this virus is real and not a hoax.

  9. Does anyone on the board have a contact at the MNR we could forward the video to? The guy's face is visible, so if they can track him down he could (and should) be charged.

  11. if he is native nothing can be done .. 2 years ago i was at ganny and a native was bowfishing downtown shooting arrows in 6 inches of water as they moved up stream people were standing 30 yards away from him as he shot towards them . i called police and they told me they have had a number of complaints about him doing it and the mnrf told them that if the people felt unsafe to move as the native has more rights to be there then them... this is nothing to do with racism as i have a native grandchild.. i am not happy that they can do it ... but they can
