  1. Monica and I just had to get out of the house, so on Saturday we took a trip up to devil's Lake, near Minden. Just enough time for some lure washing and a swim before the clouds looked like they might end the day with a soaking. Nothing big was caught, but we were just glad to get out and relax on the water.

  2. I've been lucky enough to spending a few days on the St. Lawrence River recently and the Hi-Def Relief Shading on the Navionics charts definitely gave us a new perspective on the structure that we were targeting. We fished anywhere from 15-50 FOW and caught some beautiful Smallies, there were also lots of smaller specimens. By no means was the fishing easy but always fun to try something new and catch a few hawgs! The majority of the fish came on a dropshot rig, a Ned rig or a Carolina rig! A Z-Man TrickShotZ for dropshotting, Finesse TRD for Ned rigging and a Diesel Minnow for Carolina rigging were the ticket, still blown away by how long these baits last on the hook!

  3. Princess auto had one on sale last week. May still be on. I have had one for over 10 years and the best thing I ever got. CT put them on sale next month for fall preserving. Great for roasted peppers.

  4. Not that they would last that long, but a well sealed vacuum bag will preserve it's contents for years, I've taken three year old pieces of tenderloin that I found on a freezer cleanup and they were surprisingly fine still, the dog was disappointed though hehe.

  8. Andrew, Not now due to Covid-19 but when things get back to normal, hopefully, local community colleges generally have introduction to photography courses. I took my courses at Sheridan in Oakville many years ago and those principles that were taught decades before cell phones that take photos were invented hold true today. There is more than enough on line information to use the cameras you have I am sure. I would say learn what happens when a photo is taken with a 35MM or digital camera. It's all about light and how much light to take a pic, pretty simple really. Principles used at the turn of the 20th century is the same as the turn of the 21st century in fact. I occasionally will use my wife's Grand Dads 100 year old Leica 35 MM camera today or my 60 year old Practica 35 MM I got by saving Pinky Stamps from Steinburg's grocery store when I was 6. I can sum up what I know about digital telephones that transform into magnificent camera's in 2 words. "Not much."

  9. I too love the 5 fillet approach but to me it works better with larger pike as the top of y bone is tight to the shoulders on small pike. A large pike for my non-surgeon hands is perfect to perform the “ 5 boneless filet” pike technique. I know veterans can get 2x as much meat off than me but when you only filet 10 pike a year the 5 filet way is simple quick and no hassle.
