  1. Hi all, more ice fishing video for y'as. This is a compilation of three short sessions I had about two weeks ago. Walleye, pike and a few whitefish.

  2. With our go to being taken over by smelts and small herring, it was time to explore . My buddy Walleyed says, lets try line X and take the 4 wheeler . I cant refuse a free ride . Give the short legged ole man a break from walking . Now we left from line X and fished out from line X down the lake. Trying to fool me ? His devilish grin and snarrel was a give away. LOL So with a new area, one never can tell whats up or even if there are fish there . A large flat with a steep transition was a good start. Marked nothing but those herring/smelt and some perch again on the flat. Darn things are following me, or are really on the rebound. Moved out just a bit past Rob as he said he was marking, but not hooking up. Marking is a good thing, not hooking up well, maybe the fisherman . HAHA. J/K buddy . As I start to walk away from them, I realize I was in his grace, as we only brought one auger. Limit the weight on towing my smitty, left mine behind . Walk back and get the auger, and off I go. Set up again and right off the bat, I am marking . I have the mini meegs down just dead sticking 6" off the bottom . They come in, they rise, I drop and tap a tap, and they go . Never do they just look and go at a meegs. How dare they do this .This happened 4-5 times . Even had 3 come in at one time and did the same .GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR Decided it was time for a cup of java and a cinny bagel with pb&j . Sit back, chill and watch the boob tube while I listen to some Dean Martin . Isn't that a kick in the head . LOL Against my better judgment, I grab rod 2 and drop the vibrado with a new shrimp bait drop shot I tied. After about an hour of lifting slow, banging the bottom and dead sticking, a fish comes in. I lift the bait slow . As i lift, the fish bypasses the vibrado and streaks for the shrimp. I just twitch and the rod tip jerks down . FISH ON All I was thinking , I have a fish on with one of my own ties again. I was pumped. I reeled up slow and steady as I use 6lb floro as a leader . Once I could see the white bugger, I just guided him into the hole . I had his head out and trying to grab him,but the bugger was having nothing to do with it . I finally decided to do the bear grip and said, enough of this crap. Grab him by the head, squeeze and the battle was over. A quick snap, blood peeing out, I had another first on a tied fly . I had no cell to text Rob or my buddies to share my joy . It was weird . I felt guilty for a moment, but dropped my bait again not even giving it another thought, and was hoping for another fish to come in, but it was not to be. The rumble of the 4 wheel was my que to pack up and it was the end of another outing . Thinking after and talking to Rob when he came to pick me up ( love ice UBER shuttle service ), I would of bet if I had a drop shrimp above the meegs, I would of caught those ones rising up. Now I will have drops on all my set ups. I have a red and white worm I have tied to try . Might not look like much, but it worked. Even cooks nice . Off to another line X spot in the morning . Got to keep moving. Long read, but I love sharing my stories.

  3. We always did our clams on a fire on the beach. Nothing added to the pot but clams and a tight lid. When the clams open, it adds just enough salt water to the pot to steam them. We'd let it boil over, remove the lid to simmer it down, then put the lid back on. Do that 3 times and they are done. Add nothing, eat them just like that. Sooooo good! We do mussels the same way. S.

  4. Some make all of their money from repairs. A GM dealer once told me he loses money selling new cars and trucks. I told him "Then you must have sold that mansion with the guest house bigger than the shack I live in along with the 100 grand boat you were bragging about." Idiot. I may have even said idiot inside the quotation marks. We don't like each other. We sit on the same board and I have to put up with him once a month.

  6. One of the drive through liquor and beer stores. I love those joints. One I know of near where our Condo was even sells live bait. Only in America.

  7. Yea but do you have a warm place to drive out with, (Sally's heater works great) a warm up shack that you can strip down to a tee shirt in, 110 volts (generator) to power up engine block heaters or the microwave oven to warm your meals, a BBQ and camp stove to cook meals? With this rig I can use my permanent "Blue" fish hut as a base camp. Now I can use Sally and Bob (sled) and be mobile. Find an area I want to fish and then move base camp. Yes a lot of work, then what maybe needed to fish; but I also enjoy being comfortable, doing so. Shane. You will always be welcome In my fish hut, warm up shack or Sally! I like the way you speak your mind. Even as demented as it is. LOL You've helped me in the past!!!! Dan.

  9. Selling a 2007 GMC Envoy 4X4. Owned it and serviced it for the last 10 years. Been a great SUV, with all the power you'd need in a mid-sized vehicle; with its 4.2 Lt in-line six cylinder. It has no problem pulling its 5-6000 Lb towing capacity. It was used mostly as my wife's commuting vehicle for work, on her 70 Klm round trip. So most of the vehicle's 345k Klms are highway. Because of her commute, it got its servings like clockwork; anything found during these servicing was repaired or replaced at that time. Nothing worse than being a mechanic and letting your wife break down. Being an SLE model it has most of the toys offered in 2007. 10. So the last few months we've had quite a few complaints about the shenanigans that go on, generally in Non Fishing Posts, around here. Seems like some people just can't be reasonable and are offending quite a few folks sometimes very deliberately. We do our very best to try to keep this a moderated board, it's not facebook after all and we want everyone to feel comfortable here. I have never ever been a big fan of removing/banning people from the forum / board. I also have tried my best to keep most of the discussions in one place, (for 20 years now) but sadly I think we are done with that... so without any further ado, were announcing a couple changes for the better. 1st thing: all posts that are not Fishing or at least outdoors or outdoor equipment related should be posted in our new sub forum. (if they are not, they will be moved there) Non-Outdoors Open Discussion You'll notice we've moved some posts there already! We've had a lot of feedback from folks that really only want to see fishing or outdoor posts when they first get on there, but I've always said that as a COMMUNITY we should feel free to be able to ask for help and discuss subjects that are not outdoor related, so now there is a special spot for that! 2nd thing: We're going to start using some of our Moderation tools a bit more effectively. If a member can't be reasonable, they will be put on whats called ModQ, which means for a period of time all posts will have to be approved by a moderator when one happens log in. Honestly, if a user (ANY USERS - OLD OR NEW) can't be reasonable here and feels the need to troll there are plenty of other places to do it. We will be using this tool more and more in the coming months. If you can't say something nice or in the very least constructive, please don't say anything at all.. (Your Mom should have taught you this already) So that's about it. Have a great day everyone!! Be Safe Out There.

  11. Had a couple hours to kill before picking Jack up from school, took off from the house on the sled , awesome groomed trails on the lake and through the bush, but my destination lake was a slush pit, managed to get enough for supper, worth the trip! https://youtu.be/mE6Xd9vX8U8

  12. Ford(s)...I've owned two and both were brutal. Windstar and Exploder. Until I read Lew's post about his F150 I still thought the Ford P/U's and the Mustang were the only two Ford's worth owning. I guess that list can be cut in half lol. I used to laugh every time I drove past the Ford plant in Oakville and saw a couple lights out on the big Windstar sign! I wrote customer service an email to tell them they could have the ones on my instrument panel - they're never off!!
