Spent a ton of time fishing Temagami, Field, French river and Parry sound this fall. I caught the cycle on one lake in 20 minutes (all four major fish species). Then it finally happened. One warm evening in late September I was able to hook into and land my PB walleye. Just shy of 8 lbs Followed by a couple weeks later seeing an amazing northern lights show. Was a great fall and I can't wait to the Spring!

Hi all, has anyone been with this outfitter? We're thinking of going next summer. Any and all opinions would be helpful. Thank you in advance.

I poor pity the guy that tries to come in our yard. If I let the person in the yard or house he makes a big fuss over them as though it's one of his long lost friends. But until that time he scares the crap out of everyone and anyone, especially with them teeth and he likes to show them. They almost glow in the dark LOL. I'm certainly not complaining with the crime these days. I love him for it, he's doing his job and he takes it very seriously. His senses are so keen (his 6th sense I guess) even when he is in the house, which is most the time he some how knows, day or night when there is a prowler around and goes ballistic. Pretty good for seven months. but it's his breed. Imagine him in a couple years from now when his body is fully developed. There is no better alarm system. Watch out bad guys Haha.

80 pounds.....holy crap. Imagine the crushing power in his bite. Yikes! And yes, "Gentle" is always spoken in a calm and loving manner, they understand that our vocal tones underlie and enforce the command itself, imo.

Yeah, I got ya, Spiel, when Matty starts getting carried away I pull away from him, or try to, ( had him out to the Vet yesterday and he weighs almost eighty pounds, seven months old, that is where the King Shepard comes in) I just tell him, and in a gentle voice but with some compassion in it, easy, don't hurt dad and it wasn't long before he understood what I meant. Priceless!

I have a few sharp puppy teeth scars from intentional aggressive play but they're the price happily paid for Barry in the process to ensure that my pups know and understand the term "gentle!" My last few dogs (Brook and now Gordie) would allow crawling babies to take their food right out of their mouths, or their treats and toys and they would do nothing aggressive. However, on my command they can turn when necessary.

Thank you very much for that Spiel. You are absolutely right. He loves me as much as I do him and he certainly shows it. Of course at seven months old he does love to play and gets pretty wired up and if I'm not bleeding than we aren't playing hard enough. LOL.

Agree. The ice fishing season on my lake was 2 weeks long last winter. I have a good buddy of almost 40 years who lives in Philadelphia. We now have the winters he used to have. They used to have a brief ice fishing season down there, now none at all. The only bright side is...I don't put away the boat until almost Christmas, and Steelhead season is now much longer. Even as a skier, the season is now so short, and the conditions often terrible, that I don't get out much the last few years. We have a couple of trips planned down south this winter. It used to feel like I was missing something when we went away...not anymore.

Yesterday was wild game day in the kitchen, doing some cooking before rifle season for deer........ First up was a big pot of rabbit noodle soup, using a couple cottontails. Next was squirrel pot pie with a couple tree rats. 😉 see pic I also had a couple more cottontails in the pot with the squirrels. They will become rabbit pot pie and rabbit stew. In the meantime, I had a deer neck from last November simmering away all day in the slow cooker. I deboned the meat last night, and this with the stock will become a big pot of hearty venison barley soup. And for supper, I had moose tenderloin with fresh free-range eggs, yum yum!!! Life is good. Hi all, Days off just at the right time, clearing up before the snow hits and getting stuff power washed while the hose still works and ending the day with a few casts up the road in the evenings.

thats the major difference we experience here in the balmy south. Growing up daytime highs in Southern Ontario were never much below the freezing mark and more specifically when the big weather systems moved in from the south, our snowfalls were always hovering around the freezing mark. Usually a big storm came with some mixing of freezing rain etc. and now with this warming climate a couple of degrees to the warmer side, suddenly most of our big weather events in the winter just fall as cold heavy rain. Up in your neck of the woods, it might not be -20 for weeks on end anymore, its more like -10 or even into the single digits below freezing, but its still winter. I couldnt believe it, i drove to kapuskasing through cochrane for work in early march last year and it was already spring...the snow was basically on its last legs. heck I was boating in parry sound in march! not a skim of ice in sight. I swear any person that "loves" the winters weve been having these past few years is absolutely sick in the head. give me -15 and sunny over +2 and pouring rain/dreary...honestly there may be no colder weather than when it pours rain and its hovering around freezing. Last year didnt we break a record for the most consecutive cloudy days? If i recall we had some kind of stretch of 40 days straight from november to january where it was cloudy +5 and grey...and people are celebrating it?

Isn't that the truth, I got one a few months ago. Supposed to be King Shepherd and Malinois cross, I love him to death. I don't call him a Malinois I call him a Malingator for obvious reasons as I am sure you can relate.

Speaking of serious mange, and badly sun burnt as a result. check out this poor guy, It's heart breaking. If I got the right picture (computer's acting up as usual) when he looks back over his shoulder the expression on his face tells me he is looking for someone to help him. I wish I could have done something for him. Nope wrong picture and I can't fix it.

Priceless Spiel, as you know I love dogs more than anything else on the planet. I dearly commend you and your daughter for looking after number ONE.

I just had to share this. My daughter's near 13 year old Lab has had a number of major health issues in the last 3 years, among them the loss of a cancerous leg 2 years ago and a cancerous spleen last November. But he's a fighter and as strong as a plow horse when I'm walking him, almost daily. My daughter always makes him his annual Halloween Costumes and last year he was Bat Dog and this year he's a Pirate Dog. Too cute!

I hear ya on that, but even with all the snow and ice we get here winter is too long in my opinion, I’m getting old.
