glen Posted January 18 Report Posted January 18 Let’s name all Ontario lakes that allow two rods per angler. (I’m setting up my rod holders again so I want to have everything covered) lake st Clair. 2 rods where else?
glen Posted January 18 Author Report Posted January 18 But not Georgian bay. id like to fish Lake Erie at some point. so 2 downriggers and 2 boards. And 2 leadcore. so six rod holders should be enough. now I can either do four big Jon mounting plates (two plates with a duel rod holder captain pack). or tracks. Two pedestals with downriggers and two captain pack on rod holder bases.
Terry Posted January 18 Report Posted January 18 They separate Georgian bay from the Great Lakes for some reason that I will never understand, but there is talk about allowing 2 lines while trolling, so fingers crossed

Same for Lake Ontario...on the Bay of Quinte (although part of Lake O) you can't fish 2 lines west of the Glenora ferry. My understanding is the 2 line allowance was brought in to appease pressure from the charter industry.
glen Posted January 18 Author Report Posted January 18 The worst is when you’re by yourself and you only run one rod. It’s hard to know if you have a good lure on. 3

BillM Posted January 31 Report Posted January 31 MNR shut down the idea of 2 rods on Gbay, at least for this year.
outllaw Posted January 31 Report Posted January 31 dont give up. ask mnr WHY. a great outfit to help are ofah.there should be a zone representive.
AKRISONER Posted February 1 Report Posted February 1 Ya, it wouldn’t be great to see guys trolling two rods for walleye up in pointe au baril. Could get ridiculous. totally different scenario than guys running two rods out in lake o for salmon. Hence why the rule is the rule. heck we’re 1 line through the ice in parry sound! 1
BillM Posted February 1 Report Posted February 1 Yup, gimme two rods for muskie trollng, that's all I really want. I've got no desire to hang a live sucker off the back of the boat while I cast. 1
rockin-steelhead Posted February 2 Report Posted February 2 (edited) US waters on all the Great Lakes I believe is 3 rods a person but their limits are less. I.E Lake Ontario is 3 salmon it’s time they allow 2 lines per angler on G-Bay if they want to see more money coming in to the towns outside of the derby time. If I’m gonna drive 2 hours to fish, I’m driving 2 hours where I can fish 2 lines per angler. If they are worried about the number of fish being harvested lower the limit to 2 or 3 like they did with the bows. Edited February 2 by rockin-steelhead
outllaw Posted February 2 Report Posted February 2 well said on limits. we lobbied decades back on 2 rods for erie. quotas were brought up. commercial netters received 99.04 percent. sports industry receives 0.06.that was a no brainer other then commercial poundage royaltys to the ont goverment. on many other lakes the issues seem to be to get the goverment istituations to spend funds on whats sustainable.i am on l.st cl. we share it with michigan. they have 3 rods,we have 2. the fishery has proven sustainable, for sportsfishing.this was a major uphill battle that took near 20 years to achieve. 1
