gordy28 Posted August 5, 2020 Report Posted August 5, 2020 On a sleepless night last week I came across some World Poker Tour on TV Hearing Mike Sexton exclaim again how it’s the game that “takes a minute to learn and a lifetime to master” made me realize how similar to fishing that is Even with a lot of grey in my beard I still learn something every outing it seems and a recent kayak trip where I was mainly using a ned rig set up really drove that home Newest post is up https://www.northernjacks.com/post/a-minute-to-learn Admin team - not 100% sure where this should go so erred on the side of caution Thanks for reading Andrew

OhioFisherman Posted August 10, 2020 Report Posted August 10, 2020 That mushroom style of jighead has been around for quite awhile, Gopher Tackle had a trademark? on the name mushroom head and were pretty aggressive about preventing others from using it as a description from what I have heard. So what's new? basically the elastec plastic, and it's another go around for them too. They were hawking them back in the 1990's because they floated and were tougher than regular soft plastics, but weren't around long because they melted other soft plastics and boxes, and I never heard anyone lamenting their passing. Always liked the Gopher Tackle jigs, they gave you a few hook options, even long shanked ones for use in bigger (longer) worms. My understanding is they are gone now, even their web domin name is for sale. https://www.lurepartsonline.com/Inhaler-Jigs https://www.lurepartsonline.com/Barbarian-Bullet-Nose-Jigs?quantity=1&custcol16=106&custcol_lead_color=101 https://www.in-fisherman.com/editorial/history-and-tour-of-gopher-tackle/153633
gordy28 Posted August 11, 2020 Author Report Posted August 11, 2020 Thanks Ohio I originally tried to get the Gopher jigs and they were really expensive to try to get to Canada I have been using both the Z Man finesse jigs and the Berkley Half Heads The Berkley ones are cheaper but I have found 1 out of 3 to be rather dull (I give them a quick file) Cheers Andrew
Old Ironmaker Posted August 11, 2020 Report Posted August 11, 2020 "A minute to learn." I don't think so. Whom here has learned all there is to fishing? Or is it who? I haven't even learned how to speak the language I have used for the last 63 years. Every year tackle manufacturers come out with a unique never seen before fishing product. Instead of the tried old Dare Devil being red and white the new wonder Dare Devil is white and red!!!!!!
gordy28 Posted August 11, 2020 Author Report Posted August 11, 2020 OI I hear you - I think the idea is its easy to learn how to fish - like the basics, drop a line and either cast it out or troll. But per your note to master takes a life time and probably never happens. I am guessing even professionals learn new tricks and techniques all the time

Like you tune up your jigs out of the package per your liking I also tweak tackle. The 1st thing I usually do with plugs is change the hooks and pass a file across jig hooks. The only hooks I leave on are Rappala, they are good quality hooks that hold their sharpness.

If you ever have the pleasure of fishing a nishine lure works bait, he uses ichikawa hooks, they are by far the best hooks I have ever used and it’s not particularly close.
ChenDirit Posted December 23, 2021 Report Posted December 23, 2021 (edited) Where I can buy ichikawa hooks? You are right, that fishing is like poker, it seems easy in the beginning, but it takes a lot of time to master it. This is why not all people who practice them are professionals, they just stick to the basics and don't learn techniques that can help them to make a lot of money. Even choosing the casino is important, especially if it is online. I am in this field for years, and you will be shocked how many scammers are out there. I read all the time a lot of reviews, statistics on this site https://www.canadacasinoplay.com before doing something, as I want to earn money, but not to give them to others.
