manitoubass2 Posted August 18, 2016 Report Posted August 18, 2016 I wonder how he will kill his next bear. Slit its throat with his license?
Old Ironmaker Posted August 18, 2016 Report Posted August 18, 2016 Good one M2B2, I was thinking Garrotte.
Old Ironmaker Posted August 18, 2016 Report Posted August 18, 2016 Can anyone tell me why they leave a Bear dead overnight? Close to road kill, especially once critters get to it, no?
pics Posted August 18, 2016 Report Posted August 18, 2016 Can anyone tell me why they leave a Bear dead overnight? Close to road kill, especially once critters get to it, no?tracking bears at night is kind of scary. .. nothing else is likely to touch it before morning anyways.. the problem with bears is their meat spoils very fast and the quality of it would depend on the temperature overnight .. a lot of guys bring a generator and freezer for the spring hunt...this guy probably has a lot of followers who will now want to hunt the same way but how many can make the same shot? Ethics and respect for the quarry should come first.. just because you can doesn't mean you should... kind of like fishing for muskie when the water temperature is in the 80's..
netminder Posted August 18, 2016 Report Posted August 18, 2016 Anyone else think that they are perhaps going to outlaw spear hunting bears not because of the backlash this guy got, but because there are too many people likely to try and copy this, and it's to protect the idiots from themselves?

pics Posted August 19, 2016 Report Posted August 19, 2016 From petersens hunting.com...As hunters, we must recognize that widespread expressions of outrage over hunting are not random. They erupt when people perceive hunting as a form of vain, thuggish conquest: one that disrespects animals, has no serious purpose, and serves mainly to gratify hunters egos. The less concern we demonstrate for animal welfare, the less we are respected. The farther a hunting practice drifts from meaningful utilization of the animal, the more objections are raised and the more difficult it becomes to explain such hunting as demonstrative of respect for life.
