chris.brock Posted July 11, 2015 Report Posted July 11, 2015 My Curado is close to 25 years old and doesn't owe me anything. Suddenly the drag isn't smooth. With a fish on, it loads up, then chatters and releases 6' of line or so, then loads up again, etc. This condition happened suddenly, not gradually. How can I fix an old reel like that?

Steve Posted July 11, 2015 Report Posted July 11, 2015 my bantam curado super free, curado dpv, and two of my curado e201's all went down to texas (eBassFisher) fur super tuning. its amazing how great the old shimanos are when tuned up.... my bantam super free, after super tuning, it as smooth as my calais!!!
FrankTheRabbit Posted July 11, 2015 Report Posted July 11, 2015 It will be interesting to see how the Made In Malaysia reels will fare down the road. Despite selling my CuradoD, I'll definitely be keeping my CuradoE and Core for a very long time. My dad still has a pretty good condition CH SuperFree and Stradic FG, which have only been serviced once since he's owned them. Definitely built to last!
Lape0019 Posted July 12, 2015 Report Posted July 12, 2015 Definitely sounds like you need a new drag disc. Carbontex is an upgrade over the original material used. Buy one and add some drag grease and you will be good to go.
