AdamS Posted August 24, 2014 Author Report Share Posted August 24, 2014 I didn't have an open fuse so I tried taping into one and grounding to a piece of metal but it wasn't an actual ground. I didn't see a ground around the area. I think all I need to use is the black and red wire so should I be grounding the black one? That's what I tried, and I tried taping into 2 different wires with the red (one at a time) but I couldn't get the unit to power up. Any ideas? Terry Posted August 25, 2014 Report Share Posted August 25, 2014 IMO you should not ground wiring on a boat, in the real meaning of grounding (do not use the boat as a ground)all DC voltage should be isolated from the boat you could/ should have a - (grounding block) near the fuses if not run a - wire to the battery but if you gave a fuse block there has to be a wire for the negative wire Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
