My one year old deep cycle is bubbling when it is unhooked from everything. It has about a teaspoon worth of electrolyte on the top leaking out of the vent caps.

What's wrong with this battery.

Try cleaning the cables/connectors and battery terminals, make sure all connections are tight.

Check water levels, should be just below the neck of each vent hole. Make sure you use face protection.

Boiling is usually caused by over charging or a slight short,

I have a feeling you need a new battery.

Me to,It destroyed two pairs of pants taking it out to charge.Woud charge to 13.4,drop to 10.1.Noticed it was bubbling as well after the fact.Crap,get rid of it.

I just purchased a pair of Group 27 Kirkland deep cycle batteries from Costco for $95 each.

 

Never used Kirklands before but lotsa guys have said their good so I'm gonna try them.
