You're probably correct. Still, it's been 10 years since I owned a Motorguide and I'm still in therapy. Seriously, that motor (remember the Ptsv?) cost me a legitimate chance at the Cabelas NTC in DuBuque Iowa and I swore I'd never ever own another.

I've always run Lowrance and currently run a Gen 1 8" at the helm and 7" on the bow. These units, unlike earlier Lowrance units, have been flawless. I'm getting ready to retire and I'm planning to upgrade my electronics at that time. As I want to use the graph to control my Terrova I'll be switching to Hummingbird, probably the Helix 10" DI. I've owned Motorguide bow mounts in the past, and rightly or wrongly, never again. One advantage I see with Hummingbird is the ability to create your own maps without having to share. At least that's how i understand it. With Lowrance, I believe the mapping is free if you share, and there is a monthly fee if you prefer not to. If I'm in error on this please someone correct me. Not buying anything for another year.

By all means I like the suggestion to locate the owner. I had a cat once, she was the sweetest calico cat once she learned to trust me. She hated being inside because she was born wild. She would follow me all over the house and around the property just like a dog. And she was 8 lbs of whoop- ass on my lab. She used to love to sleep on my boat. One day she came up missing and I know that's on me but I really do wish I knew what happened to her.

Aren't you already paying them to do a job? We have the same thing here in the states. 5% make it tough on the remaining 95% due to their ignorance and slovenliness. Fisherman can hold these people to task similar to neighborhood watch groups. I guarantee if you pay for extra enforcement within a year you'll still be paying and the extra enforcement will be nowhere to be seen. That's the way all governments and bureaucrats work.

It has been my experience in walleye tourneys that most guys are very honest. I've fished at least 40 tournaments, and only once did I have a suspicion that cheating was involved. Now keep in mind that with the exception of a few MWC and Cabelas team Championship events the top prize for the events I usually fish is less than $5,000, in fact it's typically closer to $3,000, so maybe the money isn' sufficient to bring out the cheaters, or maybe I'm just naive.

Sometimes I'll add a rubber core weight just above the BB weight. If you're not familiar it's a cylindrical shaped weight with a slot and rubber extending from each end. Insert the wire into the slot and twist the rubber at each end. That said, IMHO the old 10'/oz rule of thumb is way over-baked. If you run 10 lb Power Pro, Fireline, or some other similar braid at 1 mph you can even use 1oz bouncers in the right circumstances. The correct amount of weight often depends on many factors, but perhaps most importantly it is based on how forgiving the lake bottom is where you'll be fishing. They don't bring used units to that show Cliff, but I like your thinking relative to buying used. If it were up to me I'd buy used but my wife prefers new so you know the old saying, "happy wife, happy life". No, the real reason to attend the show is to just learn. Learn about the pros and cons of each type of RV from travel trailer to 5th wheel to coach. Even though we're planning to buy new it is every unlikely we'd buy at a show. Best of luck to you, but as an fyi, my retired friends say Florida has the best deals ever on used campers. That makes sense if you think about all the folks hauling them down there.

Cliff, I would urge you to consider attending the Hershey Park, PA show in September. It's the biggest RV show in North America and nearly every brand and style will be on display. You can get in them, see what features you like, ask questions, meet dealers, get literature, and really start down the road of making an informed decision. If you go you really need to stay at least 2 days. You will learn more about RV's there in 2 days than you will in a year going to individual dealers, and you'll have fun to boot. My wife and I went last year and are attending again this year. It's an amazing show.

A kicker is a good investment if your style of fishing is trolling at 1 mph and above, or, if you fish waters where a 2nd motor is simply a good idea from a safety perspective. I typically use my electric motor up to 1.2 mph, then my kicker to troll above those speeds. Consider a 2 cylinder 4 stroke, it will run with much less vibration than a single.

I will just say that in my opinion the I phone 6 is way better that previous I phones.

Wow, no one can say your GM isn't afraid to make a deal, but at what long term cost? To me it is shocking how much he gave up for a rental player.

I look around the league and wonder, how do teams like Detroit not win? How are teams like Toronto and The Dodgers not 25 games over .500? On the other hand I am not a Yankees fan but they are really having a great year and no one wins more consistently than St. Louis. There line-up is only average, but their pitching is outstanding. More than that they simply know how to win; they rarely squander opportunities. Hopefully some day my Pirates will figure it out too.

Could you possibly have a setting issue? If your screen is not showing water anywhere including areas you know your chart has displayed water in the past you probably have a setting problem or your unit is not recognizing your chip.

I'm mostly a lurker on here, but this seems like the perfect post to share my thoughts. I rarely find comments on this site anything but either good social sharing, informative, or simply funny. Mind you, I don't read every post, just ones that catch my eye, but the folks on this site, compared to another one I visit are generally good- natured and respectful, save for the occasional anti-native American rant . On this other site for instance, there is a fella who has 26,000 posts. That's right, 26,000+ posts!!!! Nothing else needs to be said about this guy. Another guy seems hell bet on only posting to brag about his latest boat purchase, and then there is the 30 something man who is married with two kids, has a home and a camp on a famous lake, and has every toy known to man. He has told everyone he'll retire by the time he's 50 inferring everyone who can't is a loser, and only after reading between the lines do you realize his daddy has paid for everything. The louse even complained when his ailing father gave him an aluminum boat with a Mercury outboard. He, of course, strongly prefers glass. Uggh!!! So, boys and girls of OFC, behave and play nicely or I'll send these three dufus's to your precious site share their wisdom and singular accomplishments. Cliff, we've made our decision and it will be a fifth wheel. I'm retiring in about 18 months and we'll buy sometime between now and then. I'm not going full-time, so we plan to buy at maximum a 35' fiver. Most full timers go bigger. This size is easier to haul and allows for more campground options. We will use ours to travel out west and winter down south. I have a 3/4 ton diesel truck and a 2,200 lb pin weight is about the maximum I can haul and be within my 10,000 GVWR. We've been researching 5th wheels for sometime. My #1 choice right now would be a Northwood. Either the Arctic Fox 27-5L or the Fox Mountain 32-RKS. Northwood makes a very well-built 4 season trailer, but we also like the Silverback 31RK by Cedar Creek. We prefer the rear kitchen models as generally they allow for the largest kitchen and most counter space. If you go 5th wheel be very aware of your tow vehicles GVWR and GVCWR limitations and remember, all 5th wheel manufacturers list only the unloaded (dry) pin weight. Be especially careful of 1/2 ton towable 5'ers. If you indeed are not overweight it may be because they have built them quit structurally deficient to minimize weight. The biggest RV show in the nation is at Hershey Park in Hershey PA in September. It was fabulous, we went last year and plan to go for two days this year. It's the 1st show of the year where the manufacturers will have their 2016 line-up on display. Every kind of camper imaginable will be there. Good luck.

As a general rule of thumb plastic or artificial grubs and crawlers work best when triggering a reaction strike. Reaction strikes are triggered when conditions force the target species to commit before testing. In other words, they get one chance for the meal. Typically this will occur where there is current, weeds, or when the presentation is moving at a fairly rapid pace. Put another way, live bait will almost always out fish artificial if one is trolling a harness on the bottom of an open body of water at 1 mph or less. In the absence of weeds or current for walleye the pendulum of live bait to artificial swings from moderate to convincing in favor of live bait until the presentation speed picks up to over 1.3 mph. At that point it may level out some, especially if nuisance fish are constantly robbing you.

Dogs truly are one of God's finest creations. I have said goodbye to many a good pup over my lifetime and over the years I have come to believe there is something more for them in God's grand plan. The good Lord would never create such a perfect companion to have them only live this one short existence.

Sorry for your loss. I don't know what it is but the grief of losing a dog is sometimes just overwhelming. I hope over time your grief will be washed away leaving only wonderful memories.

What a great report and stunning pictures. How many hours did it take to capture a Lew smiling. The patience and the persistence is mind boggling. Seriously though, I love your photography. Not only are you so very talented but you obviously like birds, and I love to watch birds. Congratulations on the ski's.

I have a boarding ladder. I was talking to a guy yesterday. A number of years ago him and a friend required rescuing from a local lake. They were both wearing life jackets. By the time they were picked up the cold water had zapped their strength to the point that they could not even climb the ladder. They were probably minutes from being in a very serious situation.
