Think those old 2strokes were bad on gas?

Just saw a show "Mighty Ships" featuring Jumbo Fairplayer a heavy-lift mega ship. It gets 6 meters per litre of fuel.

 

Yes, 6 metres (roughly 19ft) per litre of fuel. I believe that is 16666Litres per 100km, or 0.01411 mpg

Don't know about that, but the fuel they use was described as one step up from asphalt and needs to be heated to enable it to flow.

Far as I know they are actually 2 stoke diesels.

A co worker fired up a boiler at a pulp mill last week. I'm pretty sure he told that it burns 6 litres of fuel (some type of oil) per minute.
