grt1 Posted November 14, 2012 Report Posted November 14, 2012 just saw an article on the free press site saying that a Toronto area company was fined several thousand dollars and the owner was given 2 60 day sentences (served concurrently) for importing snakeheads. in the comment section one guy asked what do they taste like and another replied, chicken. just goes to show by their comments they think this is a joke and not a serious threat to the natural ecology
mercman Posted November 14, 2012 Report Posted November 14, 2012 Its unfortunate, but most people who dont fish, dont give the aquatic environment a second thought.
aplumma Posted November 14, 2012 Report Posted November 14, 2012 We have the snakehead in one of the local rivers I fish and I have caught and eaten a few of them. They are a firm fleshed fish that is light and white in color. The truth is it does resemble chicken I am not ruling out he was being flippied but it is a fair description of the flesh. I also agree that we don't need the fish in any waters that it hasn't already contaminated because it is a dominating species. Art
Snidley Posted November 14, 2012 Report Posted November 14, 2012 Very popular fod fish in Asia and in Japan they are sort of like their pike.
Fisherman Posted November 14, 2012 Report Posted November 14, 2012 Very popular fod fish in Asia and in Japan they are sort of like their pike. Then let the consumers travel to Asia and Japan if they're that hungry for them. Quit polluting our water with foreign species.
