misfish Posted October 31, 2012 Report Posted October 31, 2012 (edited) Out for a walk with Gizmo and came across a great crop of shrooms under a bunch of pine trees. Eatable or not? Edited October 31, 2012 by Misfish
Joeytier Posted October 31, 2012 Report Posted October 31, 2012 Did you just pick one at random without any baseline knowledge of edible mushrooms? You are one brave man...
camillj Posted October 31, 2012 Report Posted October 31, 2012 Careful bud .. some are dangerous even to the touch
Twocoda Posted October 31, 2012 Report Posted October 31, 2012 those shrooms dont look like the ones you get out west....they arent covered in chocolate

ehg Posted November 1, 2012 Report Posted November 1, 2012 Don't eat it. It is some type of russula mushroom. Not deadly but not edible. Did a lot of mushroom foraging back in the day, very few were edible. Anything with white gills is almost deadly. Did find chantrelles and other good ones, lots of times they would have tons of bugs though. Here is a list of good ones. You have to be careful. http://northernbushcraft.com/guide.php?ctgy=edible_mushrooms®ion=ontario
Christopheraaron Posted November 1, 2012 Report Posted November 1, 2012 Best ones are the big puff balls, no way to mix em up and you can't miss them.
Joey Posted November 1, 2012 Report Posted November 1, 2012 I like some of the warnings: "warning: causes a toxic reaction of hot flushing and nausea if consumed with or followed by alcohol."
