Just saw this sign ,and the reason why i posting this is because someone in anther forum topic said it was safe to eat the fish in hamilton bay , Now i think not

Normally harbour fish are OK to eat, I have never though. The sign you have shown above was a warning during the algae bloom, it happens every year. The bloom however is long over and the person who is to take the signs down more than likely hasn't got around to it yet.

my buddy eats bullheads from hamilton harbour, hes fine (maybe not in the head) but no mutilations that i know of, but some of these bullheads have some serious mutilations like giant tumors and missing eyeballs, extra fins etc. :stretcher:

Technically some fish from the Hamilton Harbour are okay to eat in some quantities (although I personally wouldn't), read the Eating Guide. The blue-green algae don't really change this because it's not the muscle tissue that gets contaminated.

Is this the same Algae bloom that is all over in Lake Erie this year, does that mean no fish from Lake Erie. Lots of commercial fishing going on our there.......

I've read conflicting info on this - the safe to eat articles I read stated to ensure you don't eat any organs (liver etc) that absorbs the majority of the bacteria from the algae and eat only the fillets.
