cjgraham Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 (edited) Well it was another successful trip in the St Marys Rapids today. Lots of steelies amist the cluster of spawning Kings. Then I landed this hog. To me a bit to get him in thought for sure it was an Atlantic and didn't even occur to be that it may be a brown till I showed the pic to my buddy. I didn't even bother looking at the tail since I thought it was an Atlantic. Anyone want to give me some advice as to whether this could be a brown? I would imagine the rare Atlantic would still be lurking but I know there are Browns as well in the St Marys. Edited October 22, 2010 by cjgraham
cjgraham Posted October 22, 2010 Author Report Posted October 22, 2010 What an ugly snout on that thing I know eh you could throw a spawn bag on it and use it as a hook
Dozer Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 Half brown, half atlantic, half gar... brownatlanticgar! Can't help you on the ID but damn that is one funny looking fish.

cjgraham Posted October 22, 2010 Author Report Posted October 22, 2010 Im gonna go with atlantic in spawning/winter colours... I'll agree with you on that I just did some research tonight seems that the mouth of an Atlantic stops at the eye and the mouth of a Brown goes past the eye.
Spiel Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 Im gonna go with atlantic in spawning/winter colours... Atlantic. Yep....

Rod Caster Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 I would have thought brown but I'm not an expert. Amazing looking fish, my first thought was that it had a yap like a gar. Kool catch!
