duber Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 Just wondering if the ice is on its way out on Nippising yet.My buddy bought a new Alumicraft up there and has to wait till they can test his boat before he can pick it up.He don't say much but I'm sure he is going bonkers waiting for that magical day when he can go get his new boat.We have been fishing open water down here for 2 weeks now and I'm sure thats not helping much. Thanks
ccmtcanada Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 Here's a sattelite image shot yesterday at 5pm... http://coastwatch.glerl.noaa.gov/modis/mod...on.143.250m.jpg River looks ok, lake looks pretty frozen still.
Bernie Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 Nipissing still for the most part is ice covered. Fish Bay is about half open but that happened a couple weeks ago. Some has since refrozen Be at least two weeks yet, more cold weather next week. yuuuk!
Muskieman Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 If he bought the boat at ASM in Sturgeon Falls he can test the boat today... the river is thawed. RFS
duber Posted April 15, 2009 Author Report Posted April 15, 2009 Thanks guys.He got the call to pick it up in 2 weeks. They say the river is open put alot of crap floating in the water right now. Can't wait to see it.She looks like a beauty in the pictures.I think Alumacrafts are a top of the line boat.
Northhunter Posted April 16, 2009 Report Posted April 16, 2009 Will be a while yet. Anything with current opened up quick. Everything else is gonna be a couple weeks. I took a drive north on the weekend looking for ice-out brookie/splake prospects and they are still ICE FISHING!!! This is only an hour north of Suds.
irishfield Posted April 16, 2009 Report Posted April 16, 2009 Can still drive on Temagami in the mornings...
Bernie Posted April 16, 2009 Report Posted April 16, 2009 Fish Bay is open. There was just a little ice out from the dock.
T-Bone Posted April 16, 2009 Report Posted April 16, 2009 Try this webcam view...looking west from downtown North Bay... http://www.city.north-bay.on.ca/living/bay...on.asp?camera=2 Here's another just north of Callendar...sometimes it is up...sometimes not... http://torbay.net/torbay1/dockcam.html
hotrod Posted April 16, 2009 Report Posted April 16, 2009 I live right on the lake in Sturgeon and there's still plenty left on the lake, here's hoping this warm weather will open things up.
