  1. Hi all, can anyone recommend a simple, easy to use Youtube to MP3 converter? Trying to help my older neighbour download some songs for his MP3 player. Thanks,
  2. Yesterday my daughter e-mailed me again, asking why I didn't do something useful with my time. "Like sitting on the couch, watching TV and drinking wine is not a good thing?" I asked. Talking about my "doing-something-useful" seems to be her favorite topic of conversation. She was "only thinking of me", she said and suggested that I go down to the Senior Center and hang out with the guys. I did this and when I got home last night, I decided to play a prank on her. I e-mailed her and told her that I had joined a Parachute Club. She replied, "Are you nuts? You are 73 years old and now you're going to start jumping out of airplanes?" I told her that I even got a Membership Card and e-mailed a copy to her. She immediately telephoned me and yelled, "Good grief, dad, where are your glasses?" This is a membership in a Prostitute Club, not a Parachute Club!" "Oh man, I'm in trouble again," I said, "I really don't know what to do. I signed up for five jumps a week!" The line went quiet and her friend picked up the phone and said that my daughter had fainted. Life as a Senior Citizen is not getting any easier, but sometimes it can be fun.
  3. As a kid I recall the less fortunate coming to the door with pillow sacks and little makeup/costume. They came to the door early and late compared to the general population of trick-or-treaters. Last night I though of the less fortunate out there trying to get candy in the rain, cold temps and high winds while the more fortunate had less cause to 'venture forth'. Hearing that some places near Montreal postponed the date while the GTA didn't got me thinking about it. The kids out there need our protection from the elements and vehicle traffic. I am considering asking gov't to consider this aspect if they haven't thought about it. Thoughts?
  4. Thoughts? I think this is a great way to get ticket revenues beyond 'excessive noise' tickets and will help improve ID of drivers committing crimes. Also it may help discourage drive-by shooters from their terrorism since numerous cameras may get face pics of occupants. If done safely re police protection it isn't 'carding' but would target illegal windshields.
  5. Reading some articles off Youtube and am worried about our kids and farther down to line. Some scientists say in 3-5 generations women won't be able to have offspring due to DNA alterations. Brussels (world banking headquarters), Israel, and Trumps place (Marla Lago in Florida) isn't allowing it yet its being pushed fast and hard everywhere else it seems. This stuff will be all over pretty soon. They need to install the devices very close to us due to the short range of it. No government research has been done on effects. Gov't is trusting the seller and the seller is clearly stating in its literature/sales crap it is a form of pollution yet is also claiming no liability for any negative effects. $ is the goal of the telecom industry and here's some scientific perspectives on it from a guy trying to get a local government to be cautious. Many Youtube articles on it so I thought to pass the issue along since most here are caring types. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ljLynbr5iPc
  6. Hi all, I'm looking for someone in the Barrie area to install a new dishwasher my wife and I bought Friday. It will be a new install not a replacement, there was never one in the house. I got one response from a contractor site that was shady right off the bat, wanting to "tap into" an existing power source. I have a friend whose house burned down from this kind of install so I'll be damned if I let some fly-by-night contractor do this to us. Especially with a child in the house and another on the way! Any good references out there guys/gals? What should we expect to pay to remove cupboards, run water and electrical lines? Should we be looking for a plumber, electrician, or both? Thanks guys, Jesse
  7. I just got a letter in the mail from the Ontario provincial government asking whether I paid taxes on my boat. I bought it in 2015, sold it in 2018. And YES, I paid taxes at the local government office in 2015 right after buying the boat. Did everything to the book. And now they want proof that I paid the taxes and I can't find the receipt. I'm quite diligent with all my boating paperwork but this one seems to have slipped through the cracks. Does this mean I have to pay the taxes again? If so, what a crock that is. Does the local office keep a record of transactions maybe? I know the exact date the taxes were paid.
  8. I'd like to think I'm an above average tech guy but I'm getting stumped on how to send MASS txt messages. I coach a team of 10 guys and added them in contacts and put in a group. When I try to start a msg or group message it never lets me select the group and never auto fills to the group name. I can select individually all 10 no problem but that defeats the whole group thing. I feel like I'm missing 1 stupid step... I click on Start group conversation and it brings up TOP CONTACTS etc. but not groups. Any help appreciated.
  9. A hot Iron was unfortunately placed on the Maple inlay on a towel on the dining room table leaving a white impression on the wood. There appears to be a clear coat on the wood, I think it was the clear coat that was burned off leaving that white image. Before I try to buff out the white mark of the image of an Iron and ruin the entire table that wasn't exactly cheap does anyone among our talented group have any suggestions? Someone suggested carpenters crayon. Is there such a thing? I believe it is Maple. Definitely not Oak. Thanks, John D.
  10. Looking for a rough idea what people are paying for basic insurance for a 6 x 10 enclosed cargo trailer. Although I keep it locked an not quite visible to thieves, thefts are on the rise and insurance might be help if the worst did happen. Thanks.
  11. Watching the race all afternoon. Robert Wickens a Canadian rookie on the Indy Car circuit is trading the lead all race, led most laps. 2 laps to go and he is trying to pass race leader Rossi and they touch. Race over and Sebastien Bourdais wins in the town where he lives. The Canuck came close but no cigar. A rookie to Indy, not to auto racing, 28 years old that has been trying to get a Formula 1 ride for many years. Lets root for him in the Indy 500 in May. He is a road course racer though not an oval guy, big difference. Everyone will know his name by the end of the season.
  12. I am hoping someone can give me help with my samsung tablet, I have a tab e that came with an excel program on it. 15. I have to put away the summer tires on the wheels. Store vertically, horizontal or it doesn't matter. I store vertically piled one atop another to save space. Take the plastic wraps off the tire guys put on? Someone told me to take 5 pounds out of them. Yes I pay the guy his 50 bucks. I'm 63 not 53, big difference believe me. Advise please. Dan, are you there Dan D?

    Ooma

Thinking of switching to ooma and dumping my Bell landline. Any experiences and thoughts before I cut the cord
  17. After a decade of price gouging on the price of bread they're going to give you a $25 coupon. Oh boy, struck it rich. If you figure you buy 1 loaf of bread every week, 52 loaves a year times 10 years, that around 520 loaves, give or take. Not saying how much they gouged us per loaf, but that's another screw the customer deal.
  18. Seems they're looking for new cops in New Zealand. Best commercial I've seen in a long time!!!
  19. Headed north with my brother for some birds. The weather was less than ideal but wasn't terrible either.
  20. It's my proud honor to introduce my granddaughter! Born Oct. 17 2017 @ approx 11 am Tipping the scale at 9 pounds even. Mom, baby doing well, even my son; now that he's done sweating. LOL She'll also be sharing her birthday with her Aunt, my daughter; at 32 years the baby's senior. Dan.
  21. Just had a wind advisory issued on the 6pm news, 70-90 km/h winds from Grey Bruce through Simcoe County. Blowing pretty good here already.
  22. Captured on 09/24 South of Mapleview on 400SB
  23. If I've hunted the grouse opening day up north it was 20-25 years ago but it's unlikely that I ever did. I avoided it because it's too thick, too green and I had a flexible schedule. I didn't hunt much in September period, but now with young kids and busy sports schedules the number of chances are limited, so for the last few years an early trip north on the first Friday after the opener has been the norm. This year, Friday was the opener for the first time in 11 years. There were a lot more atv's and hunters than I'd noticed in the past. The first week in September had been promising with a few frost warnings and some cool nights but as we know the weather was hot this week. The alarm went off at 2am, the gear was loaded and the wheels were rolling by 3am. The trail we like to walk is narrow and overgrown so we don't usually see atv's on it, we just hoped that any other walkers weren't there before us. When we pulled up there was no sign of other hunters and we prepped and were off on the first hunt of the season. By 8am we each had bird and then I got lucky when I went exploring off trail and had 3 more grouse by 9:30am. And that was it. We didn't see/hear another bird. We got back to the vehicle by 11am and actually got in and ran the A/C. I was considering a nap while letting the engine run but had visions of a 8 hour snooze running the engine dry. While eating our sandwiches we discussed our options and decided to drive out and try another area. This would keep us cool and kill some time while we figured the birds were lying low due the heat. On the drive out we were stopped by the OPP. They checked to see that the guns were unloaded and asked to see our hunting licences and we were on our way after a couple of minutes tops. The drive to the second spot produced zero birds but did put us an hour closer to home. We had 5 birds and didn't die from the heat or mosquitoes so another season has started. Bring on the frost.
  24. I posted a few weeks back looking for an outboard manual. I ended up getting the screen shot I needed (thx to Big Cliff & BC Jr) but I continued my quest to obtain the entire manual for '91 Merc 115. So after continued & dogged determination, I found the following site deep in my google search results and happy to share with everyone here. The site: http://boatinfo.no/lib/library.html The facts: - Original OEM service manuals in their entirety - Owners manuals & marketing manuals as well - No sketchy registration required - NO COST except for cost of printing - Does not work on mobile devices. You'll need to acces via desk/laptop - Download & print max 25 pages at a time - Print to PDF to save $$ but still restricted to 25 page limit - All major OEMs available for HP & years back to 50s/60s through current (I think?) I am a happy owner of a 379 page printed & bound manual @ zero cost :) Printing & binding was no cost as a major printer OEM is a client of mine Cheers
  25. So my mystery continues. After about 90 minutes of heavy trolling motor use (high winds/waves) my electronics crap out. They're hooked to the trolling motor batteries, which are new. I've been all over the electrical system at the batteries. Cleaned and tightened the terminals, etc. I checked the voltage on the batteries. One was 12.3, the other was 9! The boat is a 17' Yamaha G3 with a 115 Yamaha. Charged is a Minn Kota. So a few questions if you don't mind. 1. When I was reconnecting the terminals I heard a motor/pump or something start up for about 5 seconds and then shut off. Pulled the wire off again and reconnected. No noise. Left the wire off for about a minute, reconnected and heard the sound again, coming from near the front left side of the boat, when my internal fuel tank is. Could that be a transfer pump or fuel pump???? 2. My electronics are connected to my trolling motor batteries, but I've heard everyone has them connected to their started battery. Is that what everyone does? Any help would be appreciated.
