ok, let me know. offer's open any time. if it "can" be done, I'll do my best to help it get done.
-
actually, it shows how folks really feel about the issue. if that means it stinks, well, then that should tell you how folks feel about it. not that if folks dont agree, then their opinion, or feelings, stink.

i'm not familiar with your handicap/current challenge, however, I have a "little bit" larger 17' tiller that I can access that location during the winter. i'd love to have you join me.

Please Help Grimsby Tackle So That They Can Help You!
Steve replied to SLA's topic in General Discussion
Grimsby tackle have always helped me out. I heavily shopped around for my new Big Jon downrigger this fall. (4000 pro tournament rigger). Joc, FW, JB's, Shortwave, Bills Bait, none could touch Grimsby's price. Great shop and had the rigger in before the time required. Signed. -
thank goodness we have anglers, true anglers, making some of the decisions....cause the small lakes would get killed!

Volume DanBob. State Farm is a direct writer of sorts - agent controlled. depending on the experience of volume of the agent, they may get preferred pricing discounts.

i don't work in auto insurance, but working in the industry has allowed me to pick up a couple tips. - shop around. every year. know your details. for auto know your ticket history. no point in having someone quote you something that isn't correct, cause they likely will run a check, and your picing will change. just be upfront. for property know the age of your roof, wiring, other upgrades, anything that will make your property more attractive. - if you do have a broker, and they can't get you a price you feel is good, then don't be afraid to shop around just your sons policy. I mean you might have a great relationship with your broker; maybe a long time deal and you don't want to move all your policies. Well, you don't have to. Call some direct writers. BelAir Direct, PC, heck, really shop around. You may be surprised that you find a single home for your son without having to change the rest of your policies. - increased deductibles. if your son is driving an older car, with the cost of insurance, just request the highest property deductible. At least $1k. Yes, in the event of a claim, he's paying a grand, but heck, he's paying a lot more than that anyway. I can confirm that our company provides a rate break at 21 and 25. As well when you get married, or become common law. If he is only being Insured for 3rd party liability only, consider lower limits. Not something that I love to suggest, but $1m (instead of $2m) might be an option. - distance driven per day. make sure the broker is asking you the distance driven. your son works in toronto which may mean he isn't driving far distances per day. as such, his rate should be lower. I believe our companies greatest discount is when you confirm less than 15km's per day. - driving school discount. most companies will offer discounts for folks who have passed an accredited driving school. oh, I'm paying $1,750 annual on a 2003 Yukon SLT w/ col, comp, $300 ded, and $2m Liab. Even us working in Insurance get taken on our prices.

I'll offer a different view. buy quality equipment - but use it! rods and reels can be used for more than one purpose. I'm quite confident that the fishing I do would destroy "average" gear. However, if the reels I use work for three or four different types of fishing/species, it can be justified that much easier. Big water fishing doesn't take kindly to poor drags on reels.

son of a gun - that's amazing. i was fortunate enough to catch a few of his shows from this past tour - the man never stops! thanks for posting that.

we have caught bowfin as high as the sault. they are up there.
-
Trout are not in the listed fish ok to bow fish for. Muskie are unfit for consumption in 90% of the bodies of water as well - can't shoot them. Still have to follow the bow fishing laws.
-
Mike, I hate when anglers line the rivers with carcasses - especially when its done for roe. I know in the harbour (hamilton harbour) the carp are not fit for consumption, so the spoil part is not a factor. Salty, I'll personally drive you around in my boat and you can use my casting deck to shoot from.... not a problem at all! We can then bring the dead over to the RBG, they don't have issue with taking care of the carp.

Roger, I too am deeply sorry for your loss. Sitting here on a business trip, I remember all the kind words of encouragement you have offered me in the past. You are a good man, and now you have an angel looking over you. Your next 'coon trip will be the one - with some extra help from above. Again, I'm truly sorry Roger. Steve

we all think it was due to money. what about the fact that shimano has sunk so far on customer service its almost to a level of embarrasement. from the loomis clusterfuhk (nrx) to the horrible return policies (TC4 crucial crankbait rod sent for warranty in July 2012 - still not back) to the horrible downgrade in reel qualities (curado and chronarch and calcutta to name a few) to the corkless shimano line of rods ... man ... it can go on and on. new stradic Ci4 reel (4000) size that drag blew on first salmon (i'd assume the 4000 size would handle a salmon) ... shimano is having serious issues, both on quality, and customer service. maybe a guy like Bob doesn't want to be associated with a company that is taking every measure to reduce quality in order to reduce price any longer? i'm sure money was a factor, but shimano's quality, or lack thereof, on recent product developments, may have been a factor as well.

I agree with you there. We have released 6 walleye 14lbs or greater - none 15lbs however. 90% of anglers would consider those wall mounts. we also released a 24.5lbs brown trout. again, another fish that likely most would consider a wall mount. however, all were released. when I do catch a trophy, a true trophy (16lbs walleye, 25lbs brown, etc) I will kill it to stuff. i wont feel bad doing so either. replica's are ok for big fish, but a true trophy, nothing wrong with putting that on your wall. i'd hate to have the mnr say to me that I cannot keep my trophy.
-
BB, to further your point, a fish has no genetics to spread when they reach "true" trophy status. its like having your great grandfather trying to procreate. many studies have been done that point to the lack of fertility in advanced aged fish. it is a great thought however. thankfully the human race didn't follow it, or we all wouldn't be here right now.
-
ummmmm, well, for one, replica's look like toys, and they aren't even close to looking like your fish. they only look like a mold that the replica artist may have on hand. salmonoids and walleye look absolutely brutal done by replica's...and i'm talking the good ones, you know, from advanced. i promise you, when, not if, but when I catch my trophy walleye it will be bonked, put on ice, and mounted the way I want it - a skin mount. otherwise I might as well just give my credit card number to advanced and order me a trophy. replica's are fine for guys who want the toys on the wall, but for a true trophy hunter, there is absolutely nothing wrong with keeping a true trophy....
-
Stoty, you cannot have it "zero" fish over 24". you HAVE to provide right to allow an angler to keep his trophy fish. now, like GB did with muskie, a trophy fish has to be viewed as a true trophy...no 50" muskie there, no 14lbs walleye on quinte. but like someone catching a 56" muskie on GB has the right to harvest it, someone should have right to harvest a 15lbs plus walleye on quinte. however, otherwise, I agree with your post 100%.

Fish Farmer, to add to your point, they also allow fishing for the spawning fish, with the fish spawn itself!

Just totally got a guy on kijii busted....

I'd rather catch one legit brown in the lake than 10 browns in the ditch. but I guess for those who don't have access to a boat, or aren't willing to work at a fish in a river, the dalhousie ditch is the way to go. our crew call the ones who fish legally "ditchfishers" and those who go to get brown eggs "ditchpigs". -

BillM, go the the dalhousie ditch. i've seen guys stepping on males wondering why the eggs aren't coming out. i've seen guys stepping on females to the point the eyes of the fish were bulging out. I can't for the life of me understand why anyone would want to fish that ditch, but its one of the most popular area's for raping browns around....so i guess if that's whats considered fun - all the power to ya! -
which live targets have wide wobbles? my experience with live targets is they have piss poor action, if you can get any action out of them at all. or was the wide wobblin' bait referring to reefers, td's, etc.

Rangerguy, you are 100% correct. whats even worse are those who step on the fish to "assist" in guiding out eggs, then chucking the fish back in the water, proudly exclaiming they are a "sportsman" who releases their fish. -
we were there last Friday / Saturday. We took five eyes and two sheepers in that time. my only advice I could offer is our higher lines were most active, while our deepest lines sat silent.

so whats the deal with the outboard on the back? i didn't think they would let you in with a motor on the back, even if it is trimmed out of the water, and your working your bowmount? has this changed recently?
