  1. Looks like some apologies are in order: An Aurora man has been fined $5,000 after a 72 walleye or more died during a June 2012 fishing tournament in Bobcaygeon. Teodore Gallone pleaded guilty to failing to comply with the conditions set out in a licence to transport live fish in a Lindsay courtroom Dec. 6, a release from the Ministry of Natural Resources states. Court heard the Town of Bobcaygeon hired Gallone to manage a live release walleye tournament on Sturgeon Lake on June 9 and June 10. During the two-day tournament 497 walleye were caught, the release states, and 72 died before they were released and an unknown number died shortly after. MNR officials checked Gallone’s live release vessel. The release states he neither checked nor monitored the water temperature and oxygen levels in the holding tanks during the tournament. http://www.thepeterboroughexaminer.com/2013/12/17/tournament-boss-let-walleye-die-mnr
  2. i'm sorry, but sometimes i think the opposite. took me two hours to get into the office this morning. hamilton to erin mills (western most section of mississauga). so many drivers have no idea how to drive in a little slush.....driving 40km white knuckled.... i'm not saying to drive 120 on the highway, but when all your dealing with is slush, nothing wrong with doing 60km - 70km.... my 4 wheel drive yukon just putted my way into work...... drive should not go from 45 minutes to 2 hours just cause an inch of slush.
  3. I recall a number of hard core bass tournament guys denying that this occurred when first reported after the tournament. I recall a fellow (can't remember his name) who was adamant that the deaths occurred and he was quickly damned by the tournament anglers who fished the tournament saying he had alternate motives. Very interesting the fellow was right. Can someone dig up that post? I did a search, but like usual, could not come up with what I was looking for (likely cause I couldn't remember the threat title).
  4. Does he work for Canadian Solar Mike? (or ABB / WB White?)
  5. he's a fish whisperer, that's for sure.
  6. Yes, they are guaranteed rate contracts, guaranteed for 20 years, regardless of the government in control. Yes, on the second question as well. If there wasn't an incentive, and the power was purchased at the price collected by the end user, it wouldn't be prudent for "the farmer" to put panels on their land/roof/etc. There have been revisions to the power purchase agreements, originally written prior to "FIT (feed into tariff)" program under a contract called "RESOP". Since the original power purchase agreement (PPA) offers, the government has consistently been decreasing the price paid per kw. This is proper and accepted by the investor, as the cost of the equipment (panels, inverters, etc) have decreased year by year (due to increased demand and local production). PPA's entered into today pay the highest from energy generated from panels on a rooftop (incentive to those who don't have "tons" of land to use for panels). The next highest is "small scale - microFIT" ground mount panels. You see these often on farmers fields with a "tilting" mechanism so that the panels follow the sun (those are called trackers). Finally, the lowest amount (but still very healthy amount) is paid to "large scale" ground mount farms, usually producing power between 1mw to 10mw - and upwards of 100mw (all per farm).
  7. Is that Mr. Chowda with that beauty bow??!! good stuff Steve!
  8. i won't argue that point bud. i'm paying like the rest of ya. i'm not even the broker, so I'm not making any commission on this stuff...I just provide the insurance. Any questions, just ask. There was a point about about a waste of land. My personal experience is many, if not most, of these farms are being installed on land that otherwise isn't the most "farm-able". (not all, but most).
  9. just a quick set of numbers, for the business folk on this board. 10MW solar farm cost: $35m Annual revenue generated: $7m (this is not some random number. We have insured these for almost five years. This is the average return, annually, on a 10MW solar farm). I actually insure that specific farm. Therefore, five years you break even (give or take a year or two depending on financing terms). Your contract with the government is 20 years. I'm sure it won't take a genius to see the $$business$$ sense behind operating a 10mw solar farm.
  10. oh, gotcha. so much for that idea, lol.
  11. actually, my old man just pointed out, because players don't get paid during suspension, it would be best for clarkson to get suspended for the rest of the season. we wouldn't have to pay him and we could replace him for someone from the marlies, making for a win win situation.
  12. oh well, his best games of the season were during the leafs first 10 games. clarkson is a joke.
  13. the increased cap will kill the nhl. there is already great polarity between the teams....and now its only going to get worse. i don't want the yankee's in the NHL.
  14. we are just joking man....... and i would do the same if I were you
  15. beauty brown. over 10lbs for sure. i'm aware of a 20lbs brown that was caught in that same spot, which was caught while the angler was sitting his hard steel lure on the bottom chatting with a friend....browns are opportunistic feeds that will eat just about anything.... my favourite fish!
  16. Lagavulin is a nice peaty bottle. Laphroig is also nice and peaty, but I do prefer Lagavulin. another great example of a nice bottle at the $100 range.
  17. bunk, good list bud. Macallan is my favourite when comparing equal years. An 18 Glenlivet is such a nice bottle for $100, but an 18 Maccallan can't be beat. Of course the price is $250. Oban is top notch. Oban 18 is simply beautiful. Scapa - never really loved that one...tasted too much like Rye. Abelour is trouble. I've had their 63% cask strength. Abundah version. trouble in a bottle. Dalwhinnie and Glengarioch are sure winners when I enjoy those with company. Don't think i've ever tried Longmorn. mmmm single malt
  18. I drink scotch whiskey, mainly single malt. with a single malt, especially one that isn't too peaty, it is very easy to tell the difference between a cheap(er) bottle ($35 to $50), a mid class bottle ($75 to $125) and a nice bottle ($150+). i know its opposite ends of the spectrum, but really, I would challenge anyone on this board could and would tell the difference between a 12 year old Glenlivet and the 25 year old Glenlivet Archive. Price is $45 vs $250. another example, although not single malt, would be Johnny Walker Red vs Johnny Walker Blue. $260 price difference but a massive difference in quality and taste.
  19. I just want to work hard and live modestly. the reason is I want to somehow be able to have my wife stay at home when we have kid(s). I liked growing up and having a mother at home in the morning,at lunch, and after school. I'd like to have my wife do the same, at least until the kid(s) are five or six. in order to do so I have to bust my butt to make good money - enough to support a modest lifestyle on one salary. i'll never make enough money to live "lavishly" on one salary, but I do believe with some smart money management we are going to be able to survive with just me working ....
  20. in the last 10 years, 9 of which I owned my boat for, this is the year I've done the least amount of fishing. mainly life got in the way. got married. bought a house. spouse lost her job which drastically tightened up finances. I did manage to do two northern cottage trips for a week each. if it wasn't for those, i couldn't even call myself a fisherman this year. oh well, 2014 will be a new year. i'm looking forward to getting back in the groove of things.
  21. its strange. i think its funny. i have my uncle over, i think Canada's only curling fan, and he says its blasphemy. that makes me even happier
  22. my inlaws make wine (Italian), but man, its the worst swill i've ever tasted. i think the years of drinking their own home made wine has killed any taste buds they may have had. when you can buy a nice bottle of red for $12 its tough to get overly excited about home made wine.
  23. nope. gotta wait for MCI to allow the release - or something like that.
