  1. oh, and certainly tie directly to the hook.....no swivel....and likely don't even use a flouro lead....just use your braid directly to your hook.... i use a polomar knot to tie.
  2. take a 3/0 thin shanked hooked, tex-pose rig it on a genuine senko (they are softer, and easier to set the hook), and cast it out.... reel it across the thick slop, letting it sink in the pockets.... with the right setup (20lbs braid, no mono) and a softer action tip of the rod, you will be able to launch the senko....when you get the hit, give it a second or two before you hammer it home.... the fish won't let go of senko.... we have caught pike, bass, and walleye using this technique recently.
  3. If JT phrased it like that, he would have been destroyed by the con media.... "how can someone who can't phrase the english language run our country"..... blah blah blah.... but that didn't happen.... it was super hero harper that screwed up.... I think they should have just left harper to speak the entire time....he would have buried himself deeper all on his own. Another classic: "I never said things were great" ....
  4. IT'S GAME DAY!!! GO CATS GO!!!! BBQ here at my house, then off we go to the game. Let's go boy!!!!
  5. I am Canadian.
  6. i find with enough time in the sun, flies take care of the slime on the carpet....
  7. sounds like my lundy and yammy needs some tlc......nah, some more slime will suit it better (and yes, don't anyone buy anything used of me...when I'm done, in the garbage they go, lol)
  8. yammy gets detailed, lol? my yammy only gets started. (seriously, what is meant by detailing a yammy?)
  9. you're right drew, count me as one of those guys. i just fish in my boat.... i haven't cleaned, vacuumed, or anything since my major overhaul in 2012. put it away in the winter, get it again in March, and just start fishing again..... i'm sure some extra attention would definitely help with longevity.
  10. m2, awesome stories. thank you again for sharing.
  11. your right bunk....my buddy just simply fished...didn't clean or take much care of his boat...but didn't think he had to...after all, he bought a lund. things that went wrong in his boat.... wiring harness crapped out a number of times causing his gauges to fail. seat post screws constantly came loose, causing his seat base to always be wobbly. silly lund track warped, causing the rod holders not to slide freely along them. the material in the seats were really thin, allowing hooks to easily penetrate it....and even after last winter the material started to crack. the stitching in the seats starting coming out. the hoses have cracked, causing water to leak in constantly. those are just a few....but the rivets aren't leaking....just the rest of the boat is crap.... to be honest, i'm not sure what maintenance would be needed to keep the above from happening..... but it doesn't leak.....
  12. Kingfisher are absolutely awesome boats as well... Great big water boats..... Biggest challenge, at least for folks like me, is to find a boat that can do the big water, AND fish the skinny water.... That takes some work, and some customization, to find that boat.
  13. rough debate tonight. not going to declare a winner...plus i don't believe it is possible to have a "winner" at a debate. the loser was definitely the globe and mail...what a joke.... we'll see how this all turns out....
  14. niagara on the lake has something as well... your not allowed to fish from shore on niagara on the lake property, unless you live in the municipality.
  15. Starcraft are awesome boats.... if it wasnt for the amount of largie fishing I do, i'd buy one in a heart beat....but their high gunnels and lack of casting deck, which is great for big water, is horrible for bass.... Lunds have gone down hill over the last five years...a friends rebel fell apart, and it was a 2011.
  16. 99% wild? we stock a bunch of kings in the lake every year (Ontario does, as does NYS). unless I'm misunderstanding you?
  17. on bronte, back when bronte had fish, I saw a full volley ball net draped across the river..... and a pile of half dead salmon on shore.... not mentioning who was operating the net, but I can guarantee you they were headed to restaurants in Toronto.
  18. essentially, and I'm sure others will correct/fill in. there were really only atlantic salmon, lake trout, and brook trout in lake ontario... late 1800's due to over fishing and daming of rivers, they were almost made to be extinct (well, the atlantics were). when alewives were illegally introduced in the (1970's?) the mnr needed a way to control.....west coast salmon were the answer. coho's and pacific salmon were introduced (coho first). the fishery for these pacific salmon exploded. not sure how steelhead fit into the above, but i'm 99.9% sure they were not native to the lake, neither were browns. the mnr have a hard on to bring the lake back to its original glory, so they only want to stock lakers and atlantics. if it wasn't for the push by anglers, kings and coho's (likely browns as well), wouldn't be stocked. of course, bows, which are held in such high regard by the elite, are considered ok to stay.... if the salmon are removed, in theory, so should the trout (except the lakers, which technically aren't a trout, but a char). either way, closing the rivers from sept 1st to november 1st would be a good start in ending the salmon massacre. for the most part, it would also allow the browns to get up, and spawn, before getting caught and killed for their eggs.....as bow fisherman can't go without brown trout eggs (gold as they call them).
  19. yep. that way we can all catch lakers and atlantics....just the way it was intended. LoL (again ) I fish for every single species of fresh water fish in Ontario (except carp) and nothing beats the excitement of spring kings.....you can get them from shore, a kayak, or even waders walking the shorelines....no need for a big fancy boat.... Have a 20lbs fresh spring king peel 400' of line off in one run....or spool ya if your using an undersized spinning reel....far from dead kings in rivers... Just close the rivers down until November....the loogans will be gone, then the river will be ready for the hard core trout guys....
  20. Reminds me of the Big E's contribution. http://www.lhsc.on.ca/About_Us/LHSC/News_Events/Eric_Lindros.htm Good on them!
  21. LoL, I bet it doesn't :)
  22. not to derail the purpose of this thread, but using spawn/roe for spawning fish is even more asinine than simply being able to fish for spawning fish. can you imagine dropping muskie roe on a spawning muskie....or even better, kill a muskie to steal its roe to catch another muskie..... blows my mind that it is legal.
  23. I'm going to be honest M2, I believe your posting has made me a better, more tolerant person. Due to the Caledonia situation(s) here in the Hamilton area, not to mention the Hagersville thefts of trucks, I've had a HORRIBLE attitude towards natives. Many times I've read your posts, whether they are related to your family (again, who are beautiful), your cooking, your dogs, your practices, and now your customs, as a result I've become a much more tolerant person. Thank you for taking the time to share your culture, and even more so, thank you for being patient with the intolerance on this board (which I more than contributed my fair share towards). My very best friend is half native (mom is 100%, dad is not), and he himself has separated himself from everything that is native....however, rather than do the same, you embrace and do your best to change (or at least, help us understand better). You're a good person. Thank you for taking the time to post. Cheers. (edited for grammar)
  24. I wish more municipalities would follow suit. Can you fish for bass, muskie, or walleye when they are spawning? No. Why Trout and Salmon?! Open the creeks/rivers back up on November 1st.
  25. Well, now that they aren't the farm team of Montreal, they will get support, lol. Not many fans of the toilet seats here in Hammertown
