Clam Auger Adapter Extension for Fin Bore Micro - - - - Pics

I should yank it off now and apply some anti seize instead of waiting until the ice has melted to deal with a rusted on part? Or it's not rust that causes this and is simply the torque tightens it too much? Need a thing on there like the Dewalt bi metal hole saw kit I have. You thread the hole saw on and no matter how tight it is you simply give the tool an easy twist to the "unlock" position and the hole saw is instantly loose.... -
I'm all for everyone enjoying crown land, but why were the roads blocked in the first place? Simply because outfitters want to ensure anyone visiting these areas will be forced to fork over some cash or were the roads closed off and the outfitters were able to gain access after the fact?

The above method definitely works to remove the chuck if it's not on very tight, but you also run the risk of causing cosmetic damage to the chuck. This can result in grooves or high points on the chuck which isn't really a big deal, but they can make changing bits uncomfortable without gloves in the future. The worst by far is when there's a small edge formed from the channel locks sliding on the chuck as this edge can be like a knife just waiting to cut your hand when you tighten the chuck next time. Tightening a piece of steel in the chuck and then giving it a sharp whack to loosen the chuck is a better idea. Zero risk of damaging the chuck. Zero risk of cut up hands. -

Thanks for the offer, but I have this auger and a 10" Jiffy. I'm sure someone else will put your auger to good use. -

Great idea. That'd be as easy as replacing the second bolt with a pin so the ice anchor adapter would pin to the 4" length of pipe quickly and easily. With more and more people using their drills on the ice it's only a matter of time before we start seeing cool new gadgets. Removing the chuck was very easy on my new drill... Remove the allen head screw inside the chuck Tighten the chuck onto a 3/8-1/2" allen key or similar piece of steel Put the drill into hammer mode Whack the allen key hard with a mallet to snap it loose I initially planned on using my 7 year old Ridgid 18 volt for the auger so I wouldn't have to worry about swapping the drill. I tried everything imaginable to get the chuck off that thing and ended up breaking it in the process of trying to get the chuck off. -
After trying this auger adapter one time without an extension it was easy to see that someone who is over 6' tall would have a sore back after using such a short auger. So, off to the basement to save my back... Parts: 1/2" EMT galvanized steel conduit (.705" outside diameter) cut to whatever length you want the extension to be 2 x stainless 1 3/4" x 1/4" bolts w/ nyloc nuts 4" length of galvanized .710-.715" inside diameter pipe. Conduit needs to be snug but easy to insert/remove It would be easy to modify the auger end to fit various sized augers using different diameters of pipe... 1) Slide the 4" length of pipe over the adapter on the Clam mount and apply pressure towards the Clam mount. 2) Drill a 1/4" hole 1/2" from the end of the 4" pipe towards mount going through both the pipe and adapter. 3) Attach pipe to Clam adapter with the bolt and nut. 4) Slide EMT into the short length of pipe until it bottoms out against the Clam adapter now inside the 4" length of pipe. 5) While applying pressure towards the Clam mount, drill another 1/4" hole through both the 4" pipe and EMT extension 1" from the auger end. 6) Attach extension with second bolt and nut. 7) Drill a hole 3" from the auger end of the EMT. The size of this hole depends on the size of thumb screw that came with your auger. Cost ranges from pennies to maybe $10 if you had to buy everything. Before this mod the tip of the auger was a stubby 20" from the bottom of the Clam plate putting the handles about 24" off the ice. After the mod the tip of the blades are 39" and the handles are now a much more comfortable 43" off the ice.

This is what people who have never used these adapters fail to understand as they simply think that something the government has banned must be an evil and deadly child killing device. There is no crazy amounts of propane flying around. There are no exploding tanks because safety features on the tanks prevent this. Filling your car at the gas station is likely more dangerous. It's comparable to changing the tank on your BBQ. How many of you think that is a huge safety risk?

Weird how mine appears the same as yours in the first pic and drills great yet yours works better after you bent it? At least you got it working, that's all that matters.

My old Aqua Vu ZT was similar to Terry's. On Simcoe it was easy to see everything with all 100ft of the cable out. Frustrating watching all those Whities swim by...

Whitetails don't have a harem or pack led by a buck and for the majority of the year the two sexes will remain in separate groups. You'll typically only see bucks with does during the rut when they're hanging around does waiting for them to be ready to "accept" him and the other time is when they're in their winter yards, such is the case here. The deer in your yard are being led by a doe, not that buck.

I used an old Aqua Vu ZT for a few seasons and the majority of the time the perch looking camera would attract fish of all species. I believe it was attacked more than 5 times by hungry pike and had the tooth marks to prove it. A couple of times the camera was pulled right to the hole and if I were fishing through a larger hole my camera would have been at the bottom of a lake. Perch would also be attracted numerous times with a little jigging of the perch camera. On Simcoe it was easy to see bottom and fish in 25 fow with the camera pointed down (downview) and resting only a few feet below the ice. In murky water I would simply drop the camera down to the same level of the lure (sideview) and easily see the bait and fish. The IR lights on the camera were completely useless as the light reflected off every little organism and debris in the water making it nearly impossible to see anything. They're a pain in 20+ fow when used with the camera viewing to the side as any fish swimming in circles below the hole will wrap around the cable. However, they're a game changer when the fish are being finicky and biting very light and are the best tool available for learning how fish react to different baits and actions. You wouldn't believe how many 12"+ perch can hit a bait without the angler even knowing it, even when using a spring bobber and extremely light lines. They can suck it in and spit it back out without a spring bobber signalling a hit. On many occasions the camera turned slow and fish less days into exciting and limit filled days... I sold it and bought a flasher, but plan on buying another underwater camera this season. It was frustrating sometimes, but using the camera is definitely worth the odd headache.

After looking at Terry's, that's 3 Jiffy's with the exact same twist. I'm gonna say it's supposed to be like that and you likely have a bent shaft causing the wobble. Might want to test it on some local ice to see if it still works properly before heading off somewhere far just to find out you can't drill any holes...

My 3 year old 10" Jiffy stealth xt is the exact same as what the OP posted in the first picture. It's only seen 4-5 tanks of gas and I know it has not been banged on the ice as I am literally the only person who has used it after it left the factory. When looking at the same angle as his first pic I can see that the bottom of the auger, where the ripper blade bolts on, is twisted slightly just like in the first picture. in the middle it starts square with the shaft and twists slightly as it progresses towards the outside. It's easy to see this when looking at the bolts as one is on a slight angle as BB pointed out. When looking at the sharpened edges of the ripper blade I can only assume this angle dictates how aggressive the ripper blade will be. The lower angle will "rip" into the ice less (original pic) where as more angle (after OP bent it) will mean more "ripping" into the ice? More aggressive cut means faster drilling, but increased mechanical wear? My auger burns through the ice with zero wobble...

I was simply pointing out that component cables are in fact capable of HD as most people are led to believe that HDMI cables are the only cables that work for HD.

I plan on buying a new diesel in 2-3 years. But, until then I will have to stick with my "old and inefficient" 2007 Ram quad cab w/ Hemi that averages 14 l / 100 kms when empty, which is similar or better than what many new trucks get. K&N intake Magnaflow cat back exhaust Removed all extra unnecessary weight Soft tonneau cover Removed engine fan Mashing the peddle = bye bye EcoBoost

Component cables (red, blue, green) will provide HD television up to 1080i where as HDMI cables will go up to 1080p. Component cables must not be confused with the old RCA (yellow, white, red) as they're not capable of HD. This in when it pays off having friends at Future Shop who can sell you a $99 HDMI cable at their cost of $8-$9...

Anyone can stand in front of council and ask to be exempt from municipal bylaws. People do it all the time and often win giving them special permission to break the rules. It's my understanding that bylaw officers always give a warning before taking action which suggests this family had time to deal with the issue properly (relocating or speaking to council) before being ordered to remove it. It was likely multiple complaints and lack of action by the rink owners which led to the closure...

What punishment would a first time offender receive if they're driving drunk and injure someone? What about if someone is killed? On average, are drunks typically let off too easy or are the courts hard on drunks?

NF-Should winter tires be mandatory in Ontario
ch312 replied to LostAnotherOne's topic in General Discussion
You're missing the point. Stupid drivers are stupid drivers regardless of how good their tires are and no tire can make up for lack of driving skill or knowledge. Saying that winter tires somehow turns bad drivers into good drivers is like saying all a drunk has to do to sober up is chew a piece of gum. In both cases you're simply using a cover up rather than dealing with the root cause. The bad driver is still a bad driver and the drunk is still drunk. In both cases a bandaid has been applied to make thing's seem okay when it's not. Mandatory snow tires will make our roads much safer, just like the mandatory boater card stopped stupid on the water. -
It's buyer beware at butcher shops as well. Many of them are very overpriced for what you're getting and in no way does buying from a local butcher guarantee quality like you're implying. Seeing as you made the comment about chicken farmers raising prices "just because", which is 100% false, it makes me wonder how many butchers put higher prices on their meat "just because" as a way to increase profits. Many people think they're getting a better cut of meat simply because it carries a higher price and it would be easy to take advantage of this...

NF-Should winter tires be mandatory in Ontario
ch312 replied to LostAnotherOne's topic in General Discussion
Oddly enough, every winter there is a long and somewhat steep hill in Brantford that people get stuck on after every decent snowfall and I have zero issues going up the hill in my Ram in 2wd with all season tires and no weight in the back. This is where driving skill comes into play. With over drive off simply approach the hill at a steady speed and maintain that speed, or even gradually slow as you're climbing, so your tires don't break loose. Do not apply more throttle while climbing to maintain or gain speed, change lanes, or think about touching your brakes and you'll climb the hill no problem. You want to climb the hill with the vehicle shifting as little as possible. Going down? Apply the brakes at the top of the hill and maintain steady pressure to prevent sliding. As for shorter stopping distances with winter tires, you can have the same effect with all seasons by driving according to conditions (slower), keeping proper space between vehicles, and braking much earlier than you would in the summer. -

These people understand that driving properly is by far your best defense against a collision. All winter tires do for bad drivers is give them a false sense that they're now magically better drivers. These people will still floor it to get moving, brake on bends, drive too fast, and brake way too late regardless of what tires are on their car and even the best winter tires won't save their butts in all situations. Learn how to drive. -
NF-Should winter tires be mandatory in Ontario
ch312 replied to LostAnotherOne's topic in General Discussion
I'd be totally against the idea of mandatory snow tires. Not due to the cost, but due to the fact that the government shouldn't be lumping everyone into the category of "people who don't know how to drive" and forcing everyone to use winter tires. I would much rather see mandatory driving courses along with stricter testing so we only have people on the roads who have proven they actually know how to drive. Doing a multiple choice test and driving around with an examiner for 5-10 minutes should not be an acceptable way of proving if someone is capable of driving safely. Putting better prepared drivers on the road would be far more effective. -

Buying groceries wasn't too bad until 2-3 years ago when I figured out how much a pregnant and nursing mother eats. Now she's mid term with the second one and the little guy is a 19 month old eating machine. Between this and prices rising in the last couple years I have just given up on caring how much groceries cost and just hand over the card. It's even more expensive when you're choosing healthier options. I plan on getting back into breeding rabbits for meat as they're cheaper to raise and healthier to eat when compared to chickens. At 8 weeks they'll already weigh 3.5 - 4 lbs each and the meat can be used in any dish calling for chicken and they almost taste the exact same.
