  1. wireless camera for this guy. you can get them at canada tire for $50-60 if you keep an eye out.
  2. sure, ill go out and buy a lund. right after i receive a $10k check from you for the extra funds ill need to get one. thanks for the help folks. i guess they dont get up on plane as easily as other makes. the 165 (16'8") is rated up to 150hp. would a 90hp be good enough?
  3. im leaning towards yamaha as i currently own a yamaha atv, bike, and outboard. just wondering if their boats have the same great reliability as their other products.
  4. i was going to head to pitock dam for the first time to try and catch a pike or two, but after looking at the regs it closed on march 15th from the dam to #59. what i'm wondering is if there's any fishable (and accessible) water downstream of #59 that hold pike.
  5. how are these boats in the quality, ride, features department? i'm thinking about an angler v 165 with probably a 90hp outboard. seeing as i currently have a little 14ft tinner, i have zero experience with bigger boats and was hoping id get some feedback before spending $20k on a boat that i may not be happy with. do they hold their value better than other boats?
  6. lol....who cares who he is? as long as he invited you to go fishing that's good enough for me
  7. i guess i'm the only one around here that likes to float fish for cats? during this time of year they're in shallow water, very active, and very hungry which means they'll find your bait much quicker than later on in the year when they aren't congregated in predictable areas like they are in the spring. i find that i catch at least 2x more fish when using a float as it keeps your bait off bottom, usually zero snags, and i can easily cover more water. for bullheads i'll use 20lb power pro, float, swivel, 10lb flouro, split shot, bait holder hook, and worms or live 2-3" minnows. for channel cats it's 50lb power pro, much bigger float, swivel, 20lb flouro, split shot, and the hook depends on the bait they want that day. sometimes the big girls want a big chunk of meat which permits the use of a big circle hook while other times they want the same small minnows i'm using for bullheads. cats are just like every other fish out there. sometimes they're predictable and the normal rigs and baits will work while other times you need to downsize and fine tune your presentation to get them to commit.
  8. i've probably seen thousands of piles of deer scat and that pile in the pic you posted is 3-4 times bigger than the largest pile of deer scat i've come across. i've never seen anything like that, but we don't have any porky's around here either. i googled to see what porky crap looks like and i came across a few pics exactly like yours. like other critters, diet probably affects the size and shape of porky's in different areas.
  9. i didnt have any luck finding any of these online at kijiji or autotrader. it has a trailer, battery, lights, minn kota transom mount, old eagle fish finder, and the motor. ill get a pic tomorrow. thanks
  10. looking for help with putting a price tag on this package as i cant find anything about this boat on google. 1998 sylvan 14 cfs 14ft aluminum 3 bench boat trailer with all new electrical 2003 yamaha 15hp 2 stroke with gas can i figure the motor is worth $1500 alone?
  11. see if he'll give a better deal if u get two boats. im looking now and this could be a chance for both of us to save a few more bucks. im lookin for a 16-17' with windshield and stand up top...
  12. i dont recall having to get a lawyer involved for the discharge. im pretty sure i just called the bank and told them id be making the last payment and would like the discharge papers mailed out. being mortgage free is a great feeling and puts you in a great financial position. i paid off the mortgage early and there was zero penalty for doing so. id never get a mortgage from any bank that was going to charge me a fee for paying off my debt sooner than they'd prefer. crooks... with our house being free and clear, obtaining a HELOC for 80% of the houses value at 2.5% was quick and getting approved for our next mortgage literally took less than 90 minutes after applying online.
  13. had her out again on friday. it's still not starting as quickly as i'd like (2-3 pulls) but it seems to be getting better. maybe it just needs to be run some more? anyways, i had quite the little mishap after my bulky mitten got caught on the throttle while i was walking with the auger. ended up with a bruise on my shin and a 2" slice in the top of one of my $180 baffin boots before i got it under control. the blade sliced through most of the pack in the boot and was about 1/8" from gettin me toes :wallbash:
  14. it seems much easier to start after i poured half the gas out of the tank? but, this is also at room temperature so i'll have to put it out in the cold for a while to see if it still starts good under normal conditions. hopefully she gets better with age
  15. a slight hijack... anyone have any experience using home hardware house kits? what isnt included in their price?
  16. it has burnt 1/2 a tank of gas since new and was drained for storage, so there hasn't been a chance for any buildup at all and i am using fresh gas that's mixed properly. this engine should be like new on the inside. i do remember having problems the couple times i had it out on the ice last season which rules out storage causing the problem. new plug makes zero difference. trying every way possible to start it doesn't work. 20 pulls to get a new machine started sucks...
  17. last year i bought a new jiffy 3500 stealth stx and did the break in properly. i didn't use it very much last season, but it did have starting problems. last week i get it out of storage and it fires up almost right away, but when i went fishing this week it was a huge PITA to get this thing started. considering it's had less than a half tank of gas through it, i'm rather annoyed by this practically new machine. it should only take max 2-3 pulls to get it started. any tips?
  18. i find it amusing when people complain about paying bank fees, but don't consider talking to the bank to scrap the fees. i'm currently enjoying my 100% free banking with CIBC until i switch banks
  19. i've been with ING for quite a few years now and had a mortgage with them. the entire process of applying for and getting the mortgage was super easy and it was awesome doing it all without leaving the house. the service is excellent and i haven't had a single issue with them. i can only compare service to RBC and CIBC, but ING is far better than both. as for fraud, their online security is is just as safe as other banks websites and your accounts are covered under CDIC insurance. i just wish they'd get back to the 3.5% on savings accounts...
  20. the handle extends to the same length as the standard fin bore, a feature i was unaware of until i had already drilled a few holes. seeing as i'm a tad over 6ft tall, at first i thought i was crazy for buying an auger designed for little people
  21. good luck.
  22. fishing world. from what i could tell, i got the last one in the store so you may want to call ahead before heading over. $89.99. same price as the normal fin bore's...
  23. considering how small the lake actually is and the increased pressure due to the big lake access being closed off, i think it's in the best interest of the lake to keep it on the d-low. that said, the internet has already resulted in the lake practically being fished out....
  24. yesterday was my first time using the x67 and i think you'll see my aqua vu posted on kijiji in the near future. i'm sure i'll enjoy it even more after i get it figured out. i was a bit hesitant after hearing people say that the lcd screens are slow with a very noticeable delay. even a guy at the shop where i bought it (for a great deal of $259) said i'd see delays of up to a couple seconds. but, after using the unit, i'll assume none of the naysayers have even used one before. there was ZERO delay. i even set the unit outside in yesterdays howling winds for 45 minutes to see if it would slow down. still, zero delay. sensitivity? in 20 fow the small barrel swivel 16" up from the lure was easily seen on the graph. i'm not sure how well it will work in deep water, but i'll assume it will work well considering i didn't have a clue how to adjust the sensitivity. i was catching too many perch for playing around battery life seems pretty good as the voltage was 12.1 at 7am and 11.9 at 4pm after using it the whole day. at what voltage will the unit shut off? i really like the fact that most of my tackle and the graph are all in one bag. great design. i also picked up a 6" fin bore micro as the jiffy i bought last season is just a tad heavy to tow around when i leave the ATV at home. i've owned an 8" fin bore before, so i knew i had a good auger before using it. this micro is so light and easy to use that i drilled the majority of my holes yesterday while sitting in my hut. effortless going through 6" of black ice. next on the list is a 1 man fish trap. yesterday was my first time pulling the 100lb yukon TC by hand and a smaller 50lb hut is definitely needed for early and late ice when i can't take the ATV. btw...i caught hundreds of perch and brought home a limit of decent fish.
  25. out of gilford yesterday about 3/4 of the ice had zero snow and was very slick. chains, airing down to 1 psi, or studs would be a good idea for the quads. 6" of solid black ice out there means it's a-ok for the machines.
