no need to drill holes for the patch material to get into. you could throw in a few pins (tapcons with 1 - 1 1/2" exposed) if you want, but they're really not necessary as the existing concrete is in great condition and the patch material will bond well. - cut off that steel some more if you can - hose off the corner - wait for the shine to dry off the damaged corner (damp, but no standing water on surface) - mix up a slurry/scrub coat with patch material (a small amount of watered down patch material you brush/scrub into the area to be repaired) - wait for the shine to come off the slurry - trowel on the patch material, being sure to force the first "hit" into the concrete for a good bond - build it up until the patch material is sticking out farther than the concrete - wait for patch material to dry some - use a trowel to cut material nearly flush with existing concrete - blend in the patch to your liking with sponge float, styrofoam, wood, etc no matter what product you use the patch will always be noticeable. for this reason i suggest you parge the face of the porch all the way around. mapei planitop x and basf gel patch are my favorites. any construction supply in your area will probably carry these.

seeing as i've had a couple frustrating moments while fishing alone and setting lines (riggers, planer boards, dipsys), what are the methods you guys are using to make trolling as stress free as possible? is there anything i can do to help keep the boat tracking straight while setting lines, unhooking fish, etc? it's a 17' g3 angler with bow mount, 90hp outboard, and no kicker.

x2 i've seen a few idiotic comments on here before, but that's the first i've seen from a mod.

it all depends on which brand and model. my grizzly 700 is a few inches narrower and 150 lbs lighter than my buddies polaris 700 while it's only 3" wider and 17lbs heavier than the kodiak 450. realistically, a 3" difference between the grizzly 700 and kodiak 450 means nothing on the trail 99.99% of the time. while smaller motors will do what most people want, the larger motors really come in handy for getting heavy muddin tires to spin in peanut butter style mud where the less powerful machines will bog down. it's also much, much nicer having the power there when you're towing a heavy load and/or have a passenger on the back. with a bigger motor you'll always have the power there if you need it. as for power steering, the only ones that will tell you it's not worth it are those that haven't tried it. i'll never own an atv without EPS as it allows you to navigate through holes in 4x4 one handed with ease and really cuts down on rider fatigue. to the OP...the grizzly 550 and 700 are the exact same machine (exact dimensions, interchangeable parts) except for the less powerful motor in the 550. for the couple bucks extra it'll cost, you might as well go with the 700 size motor if you choose yamaha.

with the old tinner that would have been fine, but definitely not with my current boat. i'm glad i started this thread as it appears that boats do indeed slide off bunks sometimes and i now know that i'll never do it again.

well, not those that know what they're doing. launching solo is about 3 minutes, depending on how far away i have to park. i was pondering the idea about unhooking the winch so the boat floats right off. then i just have to walk back and tie to the dock eliminating the winch procedure and time involved with that. i'm borderline OCD when it comes to efficiency, but i can't get around launching without the winch hooked up.

thanks for all the input. i'm good at launching/loading as i often fish alone and am usually quicker on my own than other guys with 2-3 people. i've always unhooked everything except for the winch line, backed down the ramp, and then released the winch to let the boat float off the trailer. but, this is sometimes a pain as i can't get to the winch without getting wet or climbing on the truck. after reading some of the responses here i think i'll leave the winch hooked up for peace of mind

on sunday i went to burwell to get some pickerel and the guy that was working at the launch suggested i unhook the winch strap before backing into the water. i tried it out and it worked on a steep ramp. still didn't like the idea. it's a g3 angler 165 on bunks. is it safe to unhook everything when launching or was my near nervous breakdown justified?

whaaaa? last fall was the first for me that didn't include any hunting and i was pondering the idea of giving it up because of not having anywhere to hunt. thankfully, i came to my senses and can't wait to put some meat in the freezer this year. that is, if i can finally secure some land around here. what's the price range for waterfowl outfitters in the southwestern parts? i've always wanted to get into serious goose numbers and figure it's the best way to learn.

i've never had a trolling motor apart, but could it just be worn out/stuck brushes causing problems? maybe a wire inside came loose and was only hanging on by a couple strands resulting in a burning/melting wire? a lot of good stuff gets tossed in the garbage every year when they just need simple repairs. rip er apart to see what the problem actually is. you have nothing to lose anyways

while i agree that it's not exactly the way thing's should be done, in the end it's up to the fisherman to know the laws for the water he/she is fishing in order to avoid stuff like this. as previously mentioned, staying well away from the border is the easiest and most reliable option. saying that your friend is innocent because he didn't know where the border was is the same as saying it's ok to keep out of season fish if you weren't aware of the season in the first place. ignorance often costs $$$

i only have one neighbor and it's a business that's been in town for years. the littering from the employees was so bad that i literally had to pickup at least a plastic grocery bag worth of garbage every week before cutting the grass. multiple polite complaints to employees and the owner didn't solve anything. calling the city bylaw officer didn't help either. i even went as far as calling the cop shop to see if they could do anything about it and they said they couldn't do anything unless the offenders were intentionally throwing stuff onto my property. so, apparently it's 100% legal to litter on your own property and let the garbage blow everywhere? then there's the lazy, disgusting pigs walking and driving by that toss their garbage on the front yard and driveway
