  1. Good news one would assume. Seems like many different species of flora and fauna are reintroducing themselves to Southern Ontario. I was thinking due to better pollution controls and kinder, gentler humans.
  2. Great chronicle of your trip Like the fry pan wielding photo. LOL
  3. Sorry to hear about this run around, seems Cisco's and Irishfields comments might put you on the water faster than paying for lawyers to squabble to a finicial solution.
  4. Even as youth, most fishermen are watchers of the sky and wind. Sorry for your loss, truly one of largest, unexpected tradegies for this area.
  5. Very common that people comment on the weird green sky when the storm is overhead. It looked pitch black to me when it was 20 km away to the north. This storm was still producing tornadoes even south of Peterborough. Every weekend i would be reminded when travelling to Pigeon Lake as County Rd. 10 around Cavan lost a bunch of trees and a church we would always see. Some of those trees are still there debarked and limbless.
  6. Nice old school type report! Seems like people are having trouble finding walleye around here, you did well though.
  7. I was driving down the 115 at that time and looked to my west and witnessed the blackest sky i ever saw. When i got home the reports started coming in about one of the deadliest storms ever to hit southern ontario. Though i wasn't affected i will never forget that day. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8apXOQQKuPU&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tq36XF_5WKc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XCoQ0auZfrE&feature=related
  8. I found one! Randy on Trafalgar Rd. (905)703-5622
  9. Ya, good luck with that?! Have tried many different things(including above). When flying down a 400 series of highway to travel a few hours for good fishing, the way i outlined is only way to go, without trailer. Takes about 5 minutes to do once you have a couple of cheap investments. Geez, have fairly severe MS and still pull this off.
  10. Try Randy at (905)703-5622. Located on Trafalgar Rd. near Georgetown. Fixed my motors up recently for real cheap. You wouldn't be dissappointed!
  11. Don't need to tie the back of boat as long as you get the big ratchet strap, tie the front well, and use the largest noodles. Had to drill the main frame underneath a little to hook the strap secure. Hooking near the end of leaf springs didn't sit well with me. Everything outlined needs to be done for this to work efficiently This method should work for most mini-vans/SUV's.
  12. Hey, thanks for this Was thinking of crimping some 100 lb. test flourocarbon leaders, will try this method for the upcoming musky season instead. Sounds like it could be very effective! Have to find that Hollow-Braided line first.
  13. Another super report! Some beautiful days for sure. Many thanks for posting,
  14. Well, that was very creative ,nice!
  15. Great report and very nice pictures. Congrats on the fish and making it possible for your kids to experience the wonders of Ontario HaHa, about a year ago my daughter found a cache when were muggles. Now i have 5 or 6 planted in west Toronto(Wychwood Barns, Christie Pits, etc). Keep living the good life!
  16. HaHa, PP/Clampett was the same guy as you probably know. About 5 yrs. ago when you received an e-mail notification of a PM, someone queried me about fishing location at that time. The e-mail address was [email protected]. That guy still posts occasionally.
  17. Have been throwing a 12 ft. on top of a Caravan for over 20 yrs. Really makes most lakes accesible. Hopefully the pictures will help. First you have to buy about 5 of the largest, widest styro noodles available at Rona or CTC. Cut one straight line lenghthwise down four of the noodles then attach them to the boat. With a decently strong person at each end of the boat it can be hoisted on to roof. Also need to get the strongest, largest, long racheted strap available at CTC and get it around the boat and vehicle. Now you can attach and tighten strap. Cutting a flat section of the noodle and sliding it down the the strap on both sides of windows helps to further tighten and stops the strap from fluttering against window etc... Padding behind the ratchet also prevents scratching of paint and other things Underneath, need to use folded cloth as the sharpness of metal there wiil cut through styro and strap. Need to tie front of boat by opening hood and feeding quality rope around motor mount. From underneath pull both ends across hood, one end through some attachment on very front of boat then knot and secure. Have done this hundreds of times and feel safer than trailering. Hope this helps!
  18. Grace and Harbord here. The above route is probably the quickest, but going to the Allen then down Bathurst to Lakeshore or Front might be less mental stress. Be prepared to pay lots for parking, you will be towed or ticketed otherwise.
  19. Great report again The little musky, bunch of big walleye, the good times with your boy, rainbow at the end... Nice!
  20. Alright, a fairly positive reply that makes this endeavour seem more worthwhile. Thanks! Wondering about the launch do you have to pay or is it public? The shallowness shouldn't matter.
  21. Thanks for replies! Seems like the rocks might be even worse than i imagined. Was curious about the musky bite up there, sounds a little tough. Read a report, many years ago, where Dr.Crossman said the largest Kawartha musky he netted came from this lake. It was 45lbs. Will give it a try for smallies i guess.
  22. Nice bunch of browns! I will have to look back at pictures for those blue tinge/spots. Once kept a 2lber due to deep hooking, by far the best eating fish ever had.
  23. Have fished most of the lakes in Kawarthas but not this one. I am aware of the abundance of rock obstacles so keeping a watch on this seems paramount there. It seems with all this structure that perhaps it would be decent for the bass and musky. Really would like to try this lake this summer, any one have any experience there to share? Thanks in advance
  24. Super report! Great pictures, writing and total adventure. Those brookies look a little dark, bluish almost. Were the waters tea-stained? Amazing how some planning and experience helps make things work. Like having cell foam in pocket at right time.
