  1. At 17 years old with two years of rod building experience behind me .... LOL Mid 80's at Honey Harbour cleaning bass, yes that's right Bass! My first boat from late 80's, not my kids as I wasn't married.
  2. There's some great pictures here, love 'em all. Due to the limited technology of the time this would be the oldest picture of me I have......LMAO I will try and find some fishing related ones though when I can find a few free minutes.
  3. I'd rather catch the Sheephead over those over grown non fighting, non edible walleye .... LOL But you know me, when it comes to fighting silver I prefer Steelhead hands down, every time!
  4. Thanks Lucas, again it sounds just yummy!
  5. I'm aware of the "Novemburger" event and hope to sample a few. before months end. In fact I was at the Fool and Flagon this past Saturday for a friends retirement party and asked our lovely hostess Christine about it. She gave me all I needed to know to convince me I'll be back to try theirs. But if you would Lucas give me your thoughts on their Novemburger entry. It sure sounds yummy!
  6. 3....? Nah! Two knots, one at the hook and one at the leader to main line. I subscribe to the KISS theory and it's worked for 40 years . Oh and congrats Brian, another technique in your arsenal.
  7. In a word, "WOW." Great post Mike, hope one day I'll be in the pictures instead of saying "WOW" from the sidelines.
  8. First a great "BIG" congratulations Bernie. I knew you had all the prerequisites nailed and kudos to HH for helping you get it on paper. I'm not at all surprised that you landed the job. I've no doubt that the challenges will be met by you with a full head of steam every day and at the end of the day a great deal of satisfaction in your (well deserved) accomplishments. I hope you find it truly and fully rewarding every day for as long as you choose and eventually a route to a comfortable retirement. Again congratulations.
  9. This is indeed the way it works as history has proven time and time again, like or not the world is over populated.
  10. Absolutely! But not before we rid the great lakes of Pacific Salmon.
  11. A few more pictures from my daughters camera, finally.
  12. In today's news.... http://www.thespec.com/news-story/4897951-golden-horseshoe-has-algae-problems-of-its-own/
  13. I love wood working. However I'm not doing anything as large as your work JM which looks amazing. Love the Muskoka chair. I hope you and the family are well and settled in after that long journey (I was horribly remiss in replying to the great post detailing the journey, it was awesome! My bad!). I'll share a few wood working pictures though that are of a much smaller scale.
  14. It's been far too long, but Brook was happy! Of course so was my daughter. We all went fishing this past Sunday (along with daughter's boyfriend) in my boat which has been dry docked for 3 and a half years (sadly). Fishing was slow but the weather was beauty. Daughter out fished both her Dad and boyfriend, nothing earth shattering in size or numbers but it didn't have to be, it was the "just being out there" kind of day for all of us. I'm sure I'll get more pics in my email but for now all I have this.
  15. It is a Walleye rod, you just need to fish where the Walleye are. I'm certainly happy to seen Jen out using it though.
  16. Perhaps is just me but I take people far more seriously when at least an attempt at proper grammar is used. (pet peeve)
  17. The person you need to get in touch with is undoubtedly "Mercman." PM'ing may not be quick enough though. See of you can source an email address or a phone number.
  18. An historic event has now concluded and destined for the history books I would think. http://www.thespec.com/news-story/4885028-hamilton-s-lanc-returns-safe-and-sound-to-cheering-crowd/
  19. I often fish this area and have many decades of experience. Knowledge I try to instill in my daughter and her boyfriend who often fish in the area mentioned in the linked article. I always warn them to stay out of the water and away from the immediate damn outflow when fishing until they acquire the needed knowledge. Knowledge that I would like to show them personally when I can find the time. http://www.thespec.com/news-story/4884458-hamilton-man-drowns-in-grand-river/ My condolences to the family and friends of this young man.
  20. A good intro with the 5 W's along an age goes a long way. Just saying.
  21. I've been saving my nickles and dimes for a long time in hopes to spend 30 minutes with her.
  22. She just roared over my house at 11:50. It's nice to see (and hear) her return safely home. She's probably on the runway now.
  23. Bingo, I've been startled silly just trying to put them into position when they fire .... *damn* Extreme hair trigger with nothing more than a wee bit of peanut butter on and under the trigger for indoors. Outside in the shed the rolling pin method with a pail of antifreeze is dynamite.
