  1. On tomorrows menu what I've prepped this morning. 9 lbs boneless pork butt marinating in apple juice with a few seasonings. Into the smoker tomorrow morning.
  2. I do that, love it as do my daughters.
  3. LOL....Thanks John, it actually was a chipped plate, I ran the image through Windows Paint first.
  4. My Dad passed away when I was 15, seems I hardly knew him at the time. Funny thing is I thought he was old (41). I was the oldest of four at the time, pressure on me was to be the man of the family, so I quit school and started working to help Mom. Dad was along with his Father and his youngest brother was my connection and lasting passion for fishing. All have passed now, most recently (very, very recently) my Dad's youngest brother, my Uncle. They taught me everything I knew about fishing, fly tying and rod building and inspired all I have learned since. Happy Fathers day to them and all my friends here, the fathers here and their fathers and grandfathers before them..
  5. Changed it up a little tonight. The Rib Eyes I have come frozen in pairs so I usually eat them back to back nights. To change it up a bit tonight's steak had two sunny side up eggs on top with a tossed salad on the side topped with the last of my smoked chicken breast and some home made Balsamic vinaigrette dressing (almost identical o HH's asparagus marinade). I'm full! Still salivating over Brian's dinner.
  6. Looks awesome Brian. I'm thinking on a crusty bun with whatever fixn's you like would make a great burger.
  7. Oh I knew where it was going Brian. It looks fantastic and more appealing at this moment than my soon to be steak dinner. Thanks for sharing it. I'll definitely be trying this in the very near future. As for arteries hardening, just a way of saying I should likely be more conscious of my own diet.....NOT!
  8. Suddenly I'm not looking forward to another Rib Eye Steak dinner like I was a few minutes ago.
  9. @ Brian, Holy Crap! I think I can hear my arteries hardening just looking at the pictures!
  10. Well it was delish. The garlic butter from the escargot was drizzled over the salad. Garlic on the steak, the toast, the sauteed mushroom/onions and the overly buttered garlic potatoes.... Good job I'm here alone..... *burp* Tomorrows dinner a carbon copy, only the steak needs to be grilled (2 minutes a side at 700*), the rest will be leftovers. My apologies for the chipped plates, I am a bachelor.
  11. Oh and here's where I'm at re: tonigh'ts dinner. ....Tossed salad is made ....Baked potatoes seasoned and ready to go ....Rib eyes are seasoned ....Onions and mushrooms sliced up for sauteing (steak toppings) ....12 escargot, also ready ....Garlic toast will only take a few minutes All I need now is to build up an appetite.
  12. I've had the privilege of enjoying this thanks to HH. I was skeptical as I've never enjoyed asparagus. Well that's all behind me now, thanks for sharing the secret to awesome asparagus Bud. I'm gonna print this off and save it.
  13. I like the sounds of that and it looks great. Must try, thanks.
  14. Not by any stretch of the imagination is this my fave Zep song, but I do respect the significance of this rendition given a certain trio in attendance.
  15. Music is always on in the shop, fed into the stereo via my mp3 (on shuffle). These two stuck with me this morning.
  16. Saw this earlier this morning, might want to take it into consideration for this coming weekend in the Long Point area. http://www.simcoereformer.ca/2015/06/17/south-coast-marathon-conflicts-with-opening-day-of-bass-fishing
  17. If a smoker was air tight Brian I'm sure the wood wouldn't smoke. Get a small electric and go for it, then share with the neighbours. They'll love you.
  18. I won't re-post all the pictures Rick but you're killing me and I just pulled four large over night brined chicken breasts out of the smoker. I'm suddenly feeling small time.... Here they are when I was loading them in a little earlier.
  19. Anyone recognize the guy in the white T-shirt and baggy pants?
  20. Congrats to you and all of your family Bruce.
  21. Late Saturday afternoon prepping dinner and listening to Wintersleep.
