  1. Thanks again to all. Mackenzie will be overwhelmed when she sees the support. And I too am blessed to be a part of such a wonderful community.
  2. Very cool.
  3. That's awesome Ryan and good on you for taking the time to get her involved. And a big hearty congratulations to you Averie, well done!
  4. Wow! This post has only been up little more than an hour and the vote count is climbing fast. I sent the link to my daughter at work so she could see the thread and she was near speechless when I called her. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Truly an amazing community we have here.
  5. My eldest daughter will be off to University this fall and asked me if I would post this here. I generally don't solicit this type of assistance, but what could I say, what would any parent say. She (Mackenzie) is a bright kid who has stayed solely focused on her academic career throughout high school at the expense of her social life, not easy to do with all the pressures teens face these days. Also for the last 2 years she has been working evenings after school and 9 hour Saturdays (while maintaining top grades) to help pay her own way through school. She's now found another way to earn some money. It's an essay contest with a number of prizes to be awarded to those achieving the most votes. What she's hoping to achieve through dad's post here, is votes from the good folks at OFC. You can view her essay here..... http://crosslites.co...88e53e4af40468b and if you believe it worthy of a vote or two, please do. She'll be thrilled! Apparently you can vote twice a day and it runs till December. I won't pin this but I'll likely bump it back monthly till it's over. With thanks to all, a loving Dad.
  6. I'm sure I could swing the invite Dan but I'd like to wait till I'm able to carry my own weight. Hopefully next year will allow me the opportunity.
  7. Well who wouldn't want to be in on that kind of action. Awesome day on the big lake.
  8. You'd have had to carry me in and I wasn't prepared to throw that burden on you's. Fly ins might be (definitely) the better option, hopefully next year.
  9. After finally getting to see the pics and report on my daughters laptop I'm still trying to figure out where the hell I would have fit into that canoe. Awesome trip as usual guys.
  10. "Where would you go in mid-October?" That's easy, no if ands or buts about it.....Steelheading.
  11. That I'm not sure of, these days a get most of my stuff from the U.S. But locally you might try Angling Specialties, 3 locations in the GTA. Or perhaps this guy in London, Ont. http://johnsflymaterials.webs.com/ Other than that I'd say Cabelas, I'm certain they'd have them.
  12. Nicely done Brian. It's looking more like a Lund all the time, now if you'd just get rid of that silly console.....
  13. Well it can certainly vary but I'd say around $20.00 to $25.00 plus material costs.
  14. Yes I have indeed heard of this, though I've never encountered it myself.
  15. If you were closer to Hamilton I'd be happy to do it for you. That aside the repair is not difficult if you're a handyman of sorts. If you decide to to try it on your own I can direct you to the needed materials and instruct you through the process.
  16. That would be the first thing I check, I also see that you've done a visual inspection. So my question is did you try running a Q'Tip around the ring of each guide? Sometimes a hairline crack can be tough to see but the cotton a swab will snag on it giving you a visual indicator. As for my experience with Power Pro, no issues.
  17. She'll be at Waterloo Tom studying world history.
  18. My oldest daughter is off to University this September Tom and I tried to talk her into Lakehead, but she said that would be better suited to my desires than hers, smart kid. Oh well I have have two more who'll soon be off to University, there's hope yet.
  19. True Joe, not everyone could, but you pull it off with style. Having sampled some of your culinary skills I've no doubt the BBQ'd fish was outstanding.
  20. Good shoot'n Bud. I agree with the others on the Coho, no doubt about it. I also believe Rubin's fish is a Rainbow. Glad you salvaged the outing and for not having riggers you done well. But what I really want to say is"NICE SHIRT JOE!"
  21. In stained waters I'd be using chartreuse jig heads with matching plastic twister tails or gulp minnows if I had them pinpointed or gold bladed worm harness' covering water to locate 'em. Black and gold minnow baits (ie: Rapalas) are also effective and will help you cover water to find appropriate structure, then switch up to jigs to stay on 'em. A little piece of worm on the jig definitely won't hurt!
  22. Only suggestion I have is turn off the fish symbol display, it's useless!
  23. Spiel

    Tough Day

People do eat 'em, I don't.
  24. Wow that is nasty Phil, I'm glad you're okay, truly! But what I've quoted scares me. Honestly in the best interest of your health and your families well being along with all the others on the road you should really have had someone drive you to the hospital. Not preaching just (concerned) considering how you nearly passed out at the hospital it's fortunate that you made it there, safely. In hindsight I'm sure you can see how it could have become tragic. Again I'm glad you're okay.
