  1. palomar ? Yes a Palomar knot should do fine, be certain to moisten the knot before tightening.
  2. Shucks, nobody actually ever called me a "Fishing God", but I'm good with it. It's a stacking release for a second rod, the snap closure goes on the rigger cable, with one clip on the cable to keep it at the desired depth and the clip on the fishing line. Can be set anywhere on the rigger cable. Here's another style I use that can work anywhere on the rigger cable. Scotty stacker release
  3. Something fishy in the harbour Fishing derby, community events happening Saturday Aug 12, 2010 / http://www.thespec.com/ Even if you don't catch a fish, you will probably get hooked on the harbour. This Saturday, the Hamilton Harbour Fishing Derby will give families a great excuse to enjoy the waterfront. In addition to the fishing derby from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., the third annual Happy Dayz in Hamilton Festival will follow. Plus, harbour cruises will be available at a reduced rate of $6. A number of private fishing boats will also take people onto the water for the derby. Prime spots will be stocked with fish and the catch-and-release fishing derby will offer several prizes, including longest fish in each category and most fish caught. Only live fish will be measured. Prizes will be awarded at 1:30 p.m. at 47 Discovery Dr., at the foot of James Street North. All participants under 12 will receive a prize for attending. Check-in stations for the derby will be located at Pier 8 (Williams Coffee Pub and the north side of Discovery Centre); Bayfront Park (boat launch ramp); the fishway (on the Waterfront Trail); and at LaSalle Park (boat ramp). Werner Plessl, executive director of the Hamilton Waterfront Trust, said the fun day offers a great opportunity for youth to learn how to fish "and they can walk away with their own fishing rod." About 1,000 fishing poles will be given away to those who need them. Last year the event attracted between 5,000 and 6,000 people. Plessl said Saturday's events also celebrate the efforts by various government levels to improve the water quality. "The water is clear." For more details on the events, see hamiltonwaterfront.com.
  4. Unfortunately I believe you have but 3 choices, go the warranty route, scrap it or construct an ice fishing rod with the tip.
  5. Lack of MNR officers and enforcement.
  6. $40 for the pair. I'm back to $35.00, going, going........
  7. You are one witty character my friend. Best laugh I've had in days, perhaps weeks! I'll stand on my original price of $25.00
  8. No no no, I'm trying to sell mine for $35.00......LOL
  9. Ummmmm, not! If you set the hook, it's yours. Just saying.
  10. Well given that little bit of evidence to their productiveness Richard, $35.00.
  11. Perhaps south of the border but up here they're kept outside where it's always below freezing....
  12. I still have a couple glow of Ping A T's in my pier aresenal, they don't work, never did, never will. Going cheap at $25.00 a piece if you want them.
  13. Wow those pictures sure brought some memories flooding back Spincast. I took the Polar Bear Express to Moosinee back in 1980 while I was camping at Kettle Lakes PP. Doesn't appear as though much has changed in three decades. Thanks.
  14. I have a pair of X135's and have never experienced anything along the lines of your troubles. Have you looked through the menu to see if you've accidentally disabled some features? I'd look through mine but to power them up I'd have to untarp the boat and it's hot out there......
  15. Funny you should say that Lew. I had considered throwing in a custom built rod for the OFC'er who submitted the most votes but there does not seem to be a way for me to keep track of said votes. So all I can offer is my thanks to all who have offered their support and kind words.
  16. Well I've hung bottom a few times and it only takes a second or two to throw it in neutral or reverse if your not sleeping.
  17. Just saying Ron, you do make one of the finest Caesars I've ever tasted, on the ice, late at night, bungalow style..... !
  18. To the best of my knowledge most riggers (I have Big Jons) come with an adjustable clutch, set 'em up right and you'll have no worries.
  19. Here's your sign! Honestly I'm truly glad they are okay, this could have been fatal in a heart beat! The fact that they survived may be a first!
  20. aholic you say, sounds like you'll do fine Ron.
  21. Yep, this Saturday and I should be there working at the Stelco Fishing Club tent.
