Mildmay Sacred Heart School Salmon Release ends up to be a bigger day than they thought. Another successful School Salmon Release, Trout Hatchery Tour & Fish Kincardine Derby Student Weigh In Helpers, the Students were allowed to help weigh in a few Trout & Salmon & watch the guys clean them. Even asked what was in their Stomach & 1 of the Lake Trout had a few smelt & a Ling mostly digested. Thanx & Tight Lines SBK http://lhfcschoolhatcheries.blogspot.ca/2014/05/mildmay-sacred-heart-junior-senior_6626.html

With the PH & Ammonia being off a little on a couple of Aquarium's I was on duty for the March break, making Trips to 2 School's in Walkerton, Mildmay, Teeswater & 1 in Wingham over these dates March 7, 8, 10, 11, 14, 16, after siphoning 2 pails of water out of each Hatchery & replacing it with Mildmay Well water they sure look good. Some of the Salmon are getting big. Tight Lines SBK http://lhfcschoolhatcheries.blogspot.ca/2014/03/march-break-school-salmon-hatchery-run.html

Scotty Electric's, they are the fastest when you feel like chasing the big boys your marking, free spool going down you can drop 75' in seconds. Tight Lines SBK -

Sorting Days are today from 9 am to 12 noon. And Monday through Thursday from 9 am until noon next week as well or until we finish. Fin Clipping starts next Saturday, February 8th, at 9 am until noon and will continue until completed. If you can help, please come out. It is a great way to meet fellow club members and show your support to the fishery. Matt Luckhart is spearheading this campaign so if you have any questions please send him an email at [email protected] Otherwise just show up at the hatchery in Kincardine and ask for Matt any day you can help. Evening hours could be arranged if a few volunteers wanted to set up a work crew, Thanx & Tight Lines SBK http://lhfcschoolhatcheries.blogspot.ca/2014/02/kincardine-hatchery-rainbow-trout-2nd.html

This is one thing some of our Executive believe: There is a VERY powerful group of people that want every naturalized and non-native fish eradicated from Lake Huron. If fin clipping ended, in due time, so would all stocking of anything but Lake Trout into the lake. Like it or not, the future of the OS and the LHFC depend on fin clipping. End of story. Cut off a baby's arm below the elbow at birth and that child will no question face many more challenges in life than those with 100% of their body parts. I don't dispute that. The same goes for the fish. Just keep in mind they spend 3 months in the rearing tanks getting used to the new way of life before we put them into Mother Nature’s care.........That has to help their odds at least a little bit I would think...... Good Morning Everyone, The Rainbow sorting and fin clipping has started and we are looking for volunteers to help us out at the Kincardine Hatchery. I personally sorted rainbows last year for the first time with my teenaged daughter and it was a blast. I have never fin clipped and my work schedule will not allow me to try this year. My point is this – if you have never done it before, have no fear, it is something that is taught in seconds and by the mornings end you will be an expert. The more helpers the merrier! Thank you in advance. Kind Regards, Mike Hahn Vice-President Lake Huron Fishing Club

(for bass guys) If you could only take 6 rods
spinnerbaitking replied to Toddyc20's topic in General Discussion
If I could be fishing for SM & LM I likely won't be in my boat with less than 10 or 12 rods, I could have 2 or 3 different Dropshot & Tube rods or 3 or 4 Flipp'n rods Jig &/or Texas Rigs, I like lots of techniques tied on for quick changes, a couple lake that have nice Smallies on I could have 2 Tubes, 2 Drop Shot, 3 Crankbait, a Spinnerbait or 2 & a Jerkbait maybe a Swimbait rod too. Moe Whytock & I headed up to Port Elgin to meet Garry at the Hatchery & pick up the Salmon to deliver to Peninsula Shores District School in Wiarton, I met my father & invited him a long to the school as he lives in Wiarton now & could help with delivering food or equipment if needed, Richard Gawel a member of the BPSA & LHFC has worked to get an Aquarium in the Wiarton School, we were welcomed with a wolf cheer after introductions & 2 of the Students dumped the Salmon into the Classes Hatchery. http://lhfcschoolhatcheries.blogspot.ca/2014/01/peninsula-shores-district-school-wiarton.html Then it was off to Walkerton District Community School to set up our last school of the year, there are 3 classes helping to take care of the Salmon & have decided to set it up in the Library for all to enjoy, one of the Students from each of the Classes helped dump the Salmon into the Hatchery. http://lhfcschoolhatcheries.blogspot.ca/2014/01/walkerton-district-community-school.html Hope you enjoyed the little video Tight Lines Richard
