  1. I'm a Jays fan and season ticket holder. If you're in town and need good seats for a game, hit me up. Best of luck to Trent. Looks like he has a great future. You must be proud!
  2. Maiden voyage today in me and my buddy's new boat. Decided to christen her on Rice and it was pretty tough sledding. Water temps were 58-60 degrees. Guys were stacked on the usual weed beds, with slower than usual growth and little to show. Reports of OOS Smallies and few walleye. We fished a few holes in 14-17 FOW as well, some shore line, river mouth. Jigged with minnows, worms, bucktails and lures of most description. A few taps, one good hit, no takers. Wondering how everyone else fared or if it was just us. A late spawn?
  3. Mike was also on NPR's national comedy show 'Wait Wait Don't Tell Me.' Good on Mike for having a sense of humour about it all. Transcript here, but it's also available as a podcast: http://www.npr.org/2017/08/12/543042965/bluff-the-listener
  4. New format looks clean, works great! Thanks for all the work you guys do on this board.
  5. Hey all-- Thanks for the replies, and the great suggestions. I promise to oblige your generosity with a detailed report, wherver we end up. Moosebunk - great to hear from you... your reports on Tree river are legendary. At the end of the day where we end up will be my Dad's call but I've got Great Slave - and a few of your other suggestions - on my bucket list. Corvette1 - thanks for the PM. Got it!
  6. Thanks for the reminder on Kesagami. I've read so many great reports from there...
  7. So my Dad turned 70 last year, and I promised him a week long fishing trip anywhere in the world. Once in a lifetime, sky's the limit kind of thing. We've settled on Northern Manitoba and are kicking the tires on a couple of places, including this one: http://www.wollastonlakelodge.com/ Yup, it's pricey. He's not into roughing it any more. And heck, I promised him anywhere in the world. Can't sem to find any reviews on this one so I thought I'd put it out there... anyone been? Or do you have somewhere comparable you'd suggest...? Full report coming next summer. In the meantime it's been kinda fun daydreaming about these places...
  8. Buddy. Way to go. Awesome post. Thanks for sharing. Here's to the many decades of friendship and fishing you will enjoy with your son.
  9. Welcome aboard. Nice fish for you and your son! Do you fish the outpost at Booi's or from the lodge?
  10. I mean really. Why do the rest of us bother. Awesome, as always, Mr. Bunk.
  11. Anyone taken Sideroad 5? Might be a good way to bypass 89. Get off at 88 and then back on at Innisfil Beach Road or Essa Road?
  12. I second the notion of writing a book, Moose. You'd have a lot of customers through OFC and no doubt everywhere else too. It's obvious that writing is a pleasure for you and that's a great gift. Thanks for the read.
  13. Go for the renter's agreement if you can. 'Open Book' is deceiving, by the way! You only have 90 seconds to answer questions through the Ministry website and it's 50 questions altogether, so you have to know your stuff. In other words, don't count on cheating. Great to know the rules anyway. Was surprised by how much I should have known but didn't.
  14. Fun Report -- really interesting to hear about the geocaching. Some of the folks here don't take too kindly to posting OOS pics, but hopefully this good bit of reading should ease off the grumpy gusses. Again, great read, look forward to more!
  15. Great report -- agree it looks like a kwik fish but I've never seen that colouring...
  16. Great post. Beautiful spot you have there.
  17. Thanks for sharing that. What a post. Inspiring me to scan my own trip to the Arctic...
  18. I've had good runs at perch with Floyd... http://www.floydhalesfishhuts.com/
  19. Congratualtions Lew. A lot of us have enjoyed your posts and been nourished by your advice -- not just on fishing but on matters of family too. Delighted to see you have found a place to nourish *your* soul and your family's. Very, very happy for you.
  20. Fantastic. You guys are doing an amazing job. Thanks for providing such a great resource and and community!
  21. Dan is wise. Most of us are family men. Most of us drive on less-travelled highways where speed can become a deadly issue. Stop thinking of what we can get away with and start thinking of what keeps our families safe. Pay the fine and drive responsibly.
