  1. are you allowed to kill them in ontario? ive had problems with them as well...
  2. thanks for the input, I will be checking that out tomorrow after school at the tackle store, its right in my price range as well!!
  3. ellwood epps!!! I always stop by there on the way up to the cottage!!!
  4. My rod broke tonight while fishing for some salmon. I have an abu garcia cardinal C102i spooled up with 6 lb triline that I would like to pair with my new rod because thats what I had been using with my rod that broke. what are some other rod options I should be considering? I would like something smaller because I just use the spinning setup for smaller fish (trout, panfish, walleye, bass, etc.), but I pretty much throw anything with the rod so I would like a bit of backbone to it as well. Matt.
  5. put them right in a bucket of ice or you could put them on a stringer so they would stay alive longer.
  6. yea salmon for sure
  7. tried byng island tonight with minnows under a float and jigs tipped with worms and weight forward spinners and all I managed was 2 little channel cats, a pumpkinseed, and a rock bass i think i'll have to get out to dunville next weekend
  8. thanks for the advice! I'm stuck on shore so I think I'll go down to fishmasters and get some live minnows to put on jigs
  9. yea I wouldent bother heading out until its light out. too dark and cold outside and i heard the perch dont bite as well in the dark.
  10. most plugs float, so what happens is that when your not reeling in, the plug is buoyent so it floats to the surface. almost any plug rapala makes is buoyant/floats at a rest, but dosent really matter because youll be trolling it all the time so it wont get a chance to float to the surface
  11. I always have an assortment of mepps #0,1,2, panther martin #1,2, small williams wablers, small cleo spoons, and 1-3" rapala plugs with me when im fishing alonquin. If your trolling, try tying a 3 way swivel to the main line, attach a bell sinker on a dropper line to another eye of the swivel, then tie a flourocarbon leader from the 3rd eye of the swivel to the lure you are using. I mostly use this technique when trolling spinners and floating plugs, because the spoons already have some weight so they get you down deep when trolling. If you could buy a few lures I would reccomend you buy a tiny rapala original floater and a mepps XD or black fury #0.
  12. frances farmer will have her revenge on seattle - nirvana
  13. I'm looking for a place closer to home (burlington) to catch a few walleye. I was thinking of going to byng island or brant conservation. Where would I have a better chance? Thanks, Matt.
  14. bayfront park for largemouth and/or carp
  15. I would fish some of the stocked lakes
  16. 46" maybe! great fish!
  17. i think 6 lb mono would be a good idea as thats what i always use to get trout. inline spinners work really great on the trout, try some smaller spinners made by mepps and panther martin, trolling them or casting them. when I'm trolling, I like to add some split shot a few feet up the line aswell
  18. mepps spinners, tubes, and those floating rapalas for me
  19. do you just use jigs tipped with worms and minnows and leeches? or would crankbaits and spinners work too?
  20. I think i was fishing on the dam on east end of the little bob river
  21. Hey everyone! I am going up to bobcaygeon this weekend (fri night to mon morning) with my father and my grandparents and I was wondering if anyone knows what type of fish live in bobcaygeon and where to catch them? I have been there before and hooked into some nice panfish and bass. I don't have a boat so I'll be shore fishing there again as usaual. I have heard fishing the dam in bobcaygeon can be good (but I dont know for what species nor what lures to use). I usaully fish out front of the hotel we stay in on a waterway connecting pigeon and sturgeon lake and have got lot of panfish and some little smallmouth on mepps spinners and jigs. If anyone could give me an idea of what fish are in there as well as some fishing spots and/or lures to use, that would be great and hopefully I can put up a report when I get back!! Thanks is advance - Matt
