Hi Bill, nice to meet you. You'll like it here. Dan.

There are trolling lures such as the Rapala Taildancer that will get you down to up to 30 feet trolling. You can also use a mini dipsy diver and that will get you to about ~20 feet down depending on how much line you have out. Or, you can use a 3-way rig. For this you get a 3-way swivel, tie your main line to one end, tie a lead to the lure off the perpendicular end, and tie a lead to an egg sinker to the remaining end and that will get any lure down. Lots of options, I'm sure other guys will chime in with some more.

Holy nice fish. Looks like it can easily swallow that waterbottle!

I don't think this warrants a new thread, so I'll just post the report here. Went out into Severn Sound yesterday and trolled for about 6 hours total. Only had my dad with me, so only 2 rods down unfortunately. Nothing the whole day except for a herring that somehow managed to get the treble into its mouth. I didn't even know it was on until I pulled me line up to change lures. Tried a variety of lures and depths, was using dipsy divers. Marking lots about 25' down, but still no takers.

Hey, thanks for the tips, Dan. Any advice on colour? I am having a lot of trouble connecting with anything, including lakers. Thanks! P.S. That is a really nice fish Canuck!

Looking his other videos these people are from NY so I don't think the MNR will be able to do anything. -
Well the fact that you are asking this illustrates that you are missing an important point a lot of people are mentioning. You must have good people skills and be able to implicitly understand what people need. Asking about averages any expectations is useless because there is so much variability. If you took me out and we got skunked I would still be happy if you showed me some new and useful techniques. However many people only fish a couple of times a year and just want to get into fish and don't care for learning techniques because they won't be using the knowledge. Correctly judging who falls into which category is where your people skills come in.

I would stay away from McRae lake unless you like being surrounded by idiots. Especially on a long weekend.

I come out of Waubaushene so it's even farther, but I need to get experience with deep water trolling so you gotta do what you gotta do. I've put in probably 8-12 hours of trolling so far this year and not a single bite. Seems like it's not all me though... Does it usually pick up closer to the fall?

I trolled there Sunday during the day around Giant's Tomb and not a damn thing. Not marking much either. I've gone out the last two weeks around that area also, and again nothing. I'm new to it though, so I might just be doing something wrong. Which marina are you at?

Just because shock tactics work does not mean that they are appropriate. Also your point of society being accustomed to seeing horrible things on the news/tv doesn't work here. I have a choice whether or not I watch tv and what I watch on it, and people have a choice in limiting what they allow their kids to watch on tv. If you are driving down a road and people are holding graphic signs by the roadside, you have no choice but to be exposed to them, as well as your kids. How would you feel if those billboards you see driving on the highway contained graphic images? This is basically the same thing. Also, they didn't really get their point across because I doubt a lot of people changed their views as a result of this demonstration. Sure looks like they got a lot of negativity directed towards them as a result, though.

I think this display was inappropriate regardless of your views on abortion. There are many ways to effectively communicate opinions without the use of shock. When I'm in Sturgeon falls, it's to relax, not occupy my mind with controversial issues.

What I do is I get a regular jighead but only put it 1/2 or 2/3 of the way into the tube, that keeps it horizontal.

I dealt with Henry when I bought my boat about a month ago. He was awesome to deal with, very friendly and professional, and really knew his stuff. I ended up not buying a Legend, but it had nothing to do with Henry or the boat lacking anything (I wanted a 150hp 4-stroke and didn't want to get a Verado, so went with another boat). I spent a LOT of time driving around talking to a lot of different dealers and he was by far the best one to deal with.

It's not very clear if he hit someone on shore or if the victims were in the boat? Not surprising that alcohol was involved, especially at 3 in the morning.

Droid! twilight, Rogers offers some pretty cool student plans that are really good value.

How long does it take for a hook to rust out?
OutdoorDan replied to coreyhkh's topic in General Discussion
I remember an article in OOD magazine some time ago that contained a study on this with bass, and basically said that hooks rusting out may be more of a myth than anything else. If anything, hooks rusting out would vary a lot depending on the type, quality and size/thickness of the hook. -
Have you considered a Sportspal canoe with a square or transom back and a 2hp motor on it? They are super light and easy to get into back lakes. If you look around kijiji you may find a good deal.
