I'll bet! Obviously, I'm joking about the eating part though I'm sure it happens and truthfully, that's personal preference. But they're such amazing creatures it's great to know most get to swim away.

It's always interesting to me that players that "suck" while they're Leafs can magically have talent even before they put on a Sens jersey. LOL That's some solid reasoning skills right there. Ottawa has become a dumping site for when Toronto wants to get rid of dead wood and clean up cap space. Since the players the Leafs don't need are already better than the ones they have, it makes good sense. The previous year's standings don't lie. -

Cool! Thanks pal. Good to know. ?

Hey Johnny, you used Lysol on an aluminum boat?? I know it works great on white gelcoat glass boats but I’d worry about aluminum. Not sure the paint or decals would stand up to the strength of toilet bowl cleaners. I could be 100% wrong though too!

Glad you had a good day out with your Dad! I have to weigh in on the Lake Erie idea. First, going to Erie is not a crap shoot. Not if you take 5 mins and do some homework looking at wind forecasts. The good sites were already posted. Secondly, it’s not written anywhere that you have to run out to the middle of the lake to catch fish. You can catch smallies all day within a few hundred yards of the shoreline. In fact you can stay under 10 mins from the boat launch all day and still not go deeper than 15’ of water. I drive to the Fort Erie / Crystal Beach area and always plan my trip using a wind forecast. Don't be nervous and avoid the lake just because you’ve never been there. The people that get in trouble on Erie do so because they don’t respect the lake. No preparation, don’t know their limits, and don’t put safety first. Go and enjoy the lake! After a few visits, your confidence will go up and you’ll wonder why you waited. -
Some interesting comments. What isn’t understood must be unnecessary.

I agree Brian. I just hope Dubas and Shanahan win out over Babcock's propensity to surround him self with dipsy doodlers. They're great,no doubt, as long as there's a thumper paired up with him. -

Isn't that the truth! In the "real" world, we prove ourselves FIRST and then the money follows. In sports they throw money at them in case they turn out good so no one else gets them. lol -

Chris clearly said the Leafs need defencemen. Chris never mentioned winning a cup. Does every comment have to be a pathetic criticism? Everyone is dreaming about next year...unless you two lip experts already know who's going to win?? -
Agreed. I’ve raised that question many times in the past and nobody can give me a reasonable explanation. Personally, I think it’s a case of tradition and what we were all raised to believe. Just imagine catching a big female bass, massaging her eggs out into a jar and tossing her back in. Guys would loose their minds....rightfully so too.

In US waters only!! People will read that and go berserk. lol

Whether someone decides to target spawning bass or not is a personal decision and if it's done during the open season, not a legal issue. Getting sick over it?? Please. The damage to spawning fish/fry caused by severely fluctuating water levels, shoreline construction, pollution, or cormorants, are vastly worst for bass vs catch and release of a bedding bass. Personally, I avoid them if possible. The funny thing is, people think by fishing out in deeper water and not sight fishing, they're good Samaritans. Truth is, in clear water, smallies spawn out in as much as 25' of water...and at that depth they usually spawn later than shallow fish. So while the deep guy is throwing tubes and judging the shallow fisherman's ethics, there's a really good chance he's sticking active fish and bring them a lot further off the bed. Just saying...people are quick to judge based on what they think they know. Then go happily off to the river in the spring and catch bedding rainbows and milk them for bait because, well, they're ok with that. lol Because of the late spring and cooler water temps, If you're concerned about catching a spawning bass this year, better leave the rods in the garage until mid July. ?

213 pages in we’re getting serious about putting a stop to the trashing?? Monitoring every post sure sounds like a lot of work. Why not just READ the posts and target instigators as opposed to those that retaliate? Then watch the problem magically disappear?? Good luck -
Do you have a 14 - 15' aluminum boat with a bow mount electric?
grimsbylander replied to jimmer's topic in General Discussion
If you fish swallow you're going to want to be able to lift it right up...if you fish deep and in rough water you're going to want to stuff it deep to keep it engaged. For that boat my guess would be about the 42" length but make sure you have the up or down travel you're looking for. Don't skimp on Ft/lbs either...in many cases aluminum boats should have more thrust than even glass boats. Happy shopping! -

Honestly, pick a spot based on where you want to launch. There are fish from the Niagara to Long Point...just go where it's convenient to you! Any marina or boat launch has smallmouth and perch within a 3 minute drive. Have fun! -

Good to know. With a west, northwest wind you're good to go all along the north shore of Erie and there is no need to venture out too far for smallies. Lots to keep the kids happy in 15' of water.
